you are kidding about susatinable harvesting - that thing in daniels got took 15 - 30 years to grow and he says it will last him 6 months. sustainable ?
@seachangeau Long term sustainable? If people are going to switch to Chaga, perhaps this should be looked into... i'd venture to say some native shaman healers that live in areas with chaga may know if this is possible.
@SirCharlieLittle for the same reason it's anti-bacterial. One species attempts to exclude all others from it's substrate. At least that's my understanding.
Do you know what are the side-effects of drinking too much chaga? Could diarrhea, fatigue and feeling tingly/pulsating be some of them?
Do you discard all pieces of the chaga which naturally fall off when cleaning it of white spots (fungus I assume) and the blonde wood parts of the birch tree?
If a large whole chaga is boiled in a little water is there any risk of getting a super-saturated/high concentration overdose?
This guy absolutely ruins any good people are doing trying to promote raw foods. This guy makes David Wolfe look normal. Fruit and vegetables balance my immune system, not wild mushrooms. SNAKE OIL SALESMAN.
Great info and stuff...But what's with the 'look'? Why do a lot of raw food experts have to have that 'long greasy hair loose patterned shirt from calcutta barefoot n scarily close to nature' look? So embarrassing... could never get my friends interested in raw food with this image...
@Yephora That appears to me a tribal indicator of a desire to move beyond an infantile culture twisted by greed racing on a path of distruction. Understanding is the 1st step to overcoming judgement. Nice of you to ask.
My father and I recently went out harvesting together. I hope that this activity becomes tradition in our family, just like our blueberry and raspberry gathering adventures. I am blessed to have an abundance of chaga in my home environment. Nature provides so much for us. It is truly a blessing.
@budsmokerthc There are bacteria that eat other bacteria and are therefore antibacterial bacteria. Even with Yeast - there is good yeast and bad yeast. Instead of denying "claims" based on your own ignorance, why don't you try educating yourself?
@naturallogicskincare Ya thanks i looked into it. as i said i really didnt know, just sounded a little off. I love these you tube health gurus but some of them (david wolf) care more about sales than good info haha.
@naturallogicskincare Yeah, it seems to get to that point, doesn't it... we'll figure it out one by one, on a smaller more personal scale, I hope. Much Love & Many Blessings to you:)
i was trying to make a point. it is a fact that drug trials are not always independent. its a fact that pharmaceutical drugs kill more people then illegal drugs every year. ITS SHOULD BE COMMON KNOWLEDGE THAT THE DRUG COMPANIES LOBBY THE FDA AND CONGRESS TO APPROVE THERE PRODUCTS. their goal is to increase profits not cure disease or help anyone... they are a COOPERATION. they have a duty to there stock holders to increase profit.
How can this mushroom be antifungal? Aren't all mushrooms fungi? Not trying to be contrary, just want to learn. After finding out that mushrooms are fungi, I stopped eating them. I've read that most chronic sinusitis is actually a fungal infection. I can't imagine breathing the spores of mushrooms, much less using them in an enema! Seems like the colon would be a great place for a fungus to thrive. Okay, please shoot my statements full of holes. Hope I'm wrong, I want to learn. Thanks.
Any doctor will tell you - DO NOT freeze water in a plastic bottle, and DO NOT drink water from a plastic bottle that has been heated up (left in the sun) because harmfull components from the plastic can leach out into the water.
Plus, everything TASTES BETTER from a glass bottle, beer, pop, or water.
this guy is such a good salesman. whenever i don't think i'm going to be convinced like carrying a glass water bottle, this guy tottaly convinces me. he's like a spitting image of david wolfe. but who eats meat. cool guy.
Does anyone know of any published studies relating to the use of chaga, and where I can read them? I love that he thinks the snake oil bottle he's holding is the secret of the universe. When will people finally think rationally and use the scientific method to test these sorts of assertions?
@hanserclimbs I think that what he is trying to say is that because the bottle is made of glass as opposed to plastic, you would be more careful with it so that the bottle doesn't break. He is not trying to say that the bottle itself is sacred, but you really knew that...didn't you?
@hanserclimbs it has been used in chinese medicine for thousands of years... just because the drugs companies didn't pay off some asshole scientist or lab doesn't mean what daniel vitials is saying isn't true.
@jfezzy69 I wish I had the interest to break down how ridiculous your comment was point by logical point. To abridge myself, the amount of time it's been in use doesn't justify it's existence, ie. slavery, genital mutilation, bloodletting, astrology. If it was effective, drug companies would SELL IT. It's common knowledge that aspirin can be extracted from willow bark, but Bayer makes more money than hippies for Willows. And lastly, Vitalis is a snake oil salesman, regardless of his intent.
@hanserclimbs and for this bullshit theory "if it was effective, drug companies would SELL IT" drug companies cant patent natural products. witch means they cant make any money off them or sell then for 3 bucks a pill! you have logic but are fucking ignorant witch doesn't make you smart. it makes you a average brainwashed american. wake the fuck up buddy!
@jfezzy69 You can patent a lot of things that some folks would call natural. Also, you don't need a patent to make money. Aspirin and Penicillin are found naturally, but aren't sold by anyone except drug companies.
I don't care if it's been in Chinese medicine for thousands of years. If it isn't testable or something that can fall under the scrutiny of the scientific method, I'm not interested in it, period. And you shouldn't be, either.
I just went in the woods today with my son and we harvested a very large chaga mushroom - thank you for showing us - also saw Daniels video where he harvests it - too late for the call but will check out his website. Thanks again!!!
Wow, here I am living in Alaska and have this wonder tonic all around me. I am so happy to have discovered this informational video!!! Thank you so much.
Mushrooms aren't like other foods, you need to boil the medicinal mushrooms to get the most out of the polysaccharides they have in them. It's not like cooking spinach and destroying the phytonutrients
@theguitfiddle I saw on another site that the chaga has on its surface chitins. this is like an ecto skeleton and needs to be broken in order to get the effect of the chaga mushroom. boiling is one method, the question is for how long? any insight? thanks - seti48
i dont know the life cycle of it. but when i found it there were 2 large nodules, and 2 small. i left the smaller nodules. I did not make it back to check on them. if anyone knows the life cycle of chaga, let me know. does it grow within a season, or many years?
Hello to anyone who is knowlegable about good healthy water.
I currently live in the united kingdom and i am very keen to discover where my local spring water sources are located, can any of you offer any advice on how to begin to locate my local freshwater springs and how to decipher weather the waters found are safe to drink ?
I went out and found one. I looked at about 40 trees before I discovered a chunk of it. It does look like charcoal and I found it on a yellow birch tree! Tomorrow I'm gonna go chisel a couple chunks off of the tree and then leave the rest so the chaga can replenish.
Kevin, You ROCK for supporting others like you. I think that it is great that you go and support the events and network with your peers. Kudos to you.

One day I was walking in the hills of Washington. I had heard about some medicinal mushrooms and what do you know I found some.
I ate like 20 of them. Two weeks later a rescue squad found me on top of a mountain with a pack of wolves that had taken me in.
I taught the wolves how to speak english and made friends with all the magical ferry's.
Great story hah, kidding of course.
Great energy in that video that manifested that great story you just read.

However, most people who watch this are eco-friendly anyway and will practice safe harvesting.
