Hi Rick. I've been watching your videos and review. Great job, keep it going! I want to ask you about Crosman 2260... I would like to get a non springer .22 and I am looking to get one. I found it in stock in a shop and it seems like a good value deal. I have a Diana 34 and a Crosman P38 CO2 pistol. Would the 2260 be good for taking down small game (rabbits etc.) and in what range? If 2260 is a no go, what other CO2 single shot bolt action can you suggest? Thanks and keep up the good job.
The 2260 is a nice gun, but under powered. Consider the Discovery. You can run it on co2 or high pressure air. On co2 it will still be a little underpowered, but better than the 2260 stock (I believe). Now you can boost the power of you 2260 with aftermarket modifications. You'd have to search google for those options.
I know nothing about this gun, but am about to buy one, i waited for you to show how to load it, is it a repeater, oneshot? you concentrated far to much on the shooting and targeting i think, so now i am still oblivious....:(
@airgunweb if u finished shooting and u fired 10 shots do you need to take the co2 bulb out when it is still half full? or do you have to let it in even when its not empty?
I was reading your comments about home invasions. I live in Texas and my neighbors house was broken into. It was night and the home owners were asleep. They heard the invasion and grabbed a 357 magnum and shot and killed the invader. They had every single right to do so.
It sounds like they used the same rear sight (or something very similar) as the one on the 760. On the $30 760, it's understandable (though mine was bent to the right out of the box and it took me a couple of days to figure that out and some very careful twisting, with pliers, to straighten it out). On a $180 gun, that's inexcusable, IMO.
Please don't take offense.. but your thinking is flawed. IF you have an intruder and you shoot them with a bb or pellet gun, you will most likely be antagonizing them further putting you and your family in danger. If you are looking to truly defend yourself, and you have the legal means to do so, get an appropriate firearm and training on how to use it. A good example would be the Taurus Judge pistol.
@AirGunWeb also well not trying to be a burden, but the pellet rifle I possess can be very powerful. I'm looking for a firearm that can cripple a man and not kill him. Because in the world we live in today I would be cuffed, and sent to prison. But I thank you for the firearm suggestion. I don't really know that much about bb/pellet rifle guns.
It is sad that a criminal breaking into our homes has more rights than we as homeowners due.. in some states anyway. South Carolina solved that issue.. they basically said that if a home invader was killed in the act, they would not detain, investigate, or prosecute the home owner.. amazingly home invasions all by stopped... Go figure...
@AirGunWeb maybe I should move there. I live in a quite peaceful town though, but a bunch of rich punks have been coming in recently, and I know they'll cause trouble.
I'm not sure about any of the gun laws there.. you should get into a class of some sort and find out what your rights are. I was amazed to find out what my rights were in SC.
Rick, what is your favorite air rifle in means of price/accuracy/quality, I want a rifle for target practice, i ordered the gamo big cat 1200, I'm going to have to make a lot of adjustments/upgrades over time for it, this is my first air rifle so i could use any advice you can give, please get back to me, thanks.
I never shot mine that low.. I've never had it happen, but anything is possible. If you are using really heavy pellets (not recommend) I could see how that may happen.
How long can a CO2 powerlet stay inside the gun? Say if I opened a new one and shot a bit and decided that I was done, and left the powerlet in because I still had 20 shots left, will my gun be ruined if I left it in there for a day, maybe a week?
mixed opinions on this one.. some say you can others say you shouldn't.. I personally leave mine empty and start with a fresh co2 each session.. but that is just me.
wow.. I really missed your comment if it is 2 months old.. my bad. I plan to get to some of those as I can. They are viable airguns and fun to shoot... Why not review them!
I've got this gun and we can not get the scope to calibrate. Is there a way to manually adjust the mounting of the scope? This is our first high end gun so this is new to us.
this should be a VERY easy gun to setup.. if you can't get the scope on the paper.. then you may have bad rings, bad scope, or and this may be the most likely problem, the barrel band may be off and pointing the barrel in a weird direction.. Check the barrel band first.
Thanx I recently found out about the bolt it will not fit but the cheekpad looked like it MIGHT im not sure, it says that it doesn't on the website but I compared both the stocks on the guns and it looks like it will,(they might just say that almost as a marketing technique) but who knows maybe it doesn't fit.
And also i have in fact used this gun for small game hunting. Especially squirells, birds and chipmunks all from about 25 yards with crosman premieres.
hi, i live in bad neighborhood with alot of crime and my parents are anti gun people and i do believe in arming yourself for self defense but since i cant buy a real firearm, can this air rifle put people down ?
I'm in the process of working that problem out. If you can get the RWS 34 Panther for around 200 that would be a very good option.. I'm trying to find another one for under $200.. It is on my "to do" list for 2010.
very different guns.. what are you wanting to shoot.. if you plan to do ANY hunting/pest control, go with the Big Cat or the Whisper.. If you just want to shoot targets.. this is a great gun.
I had a 2260.. I prefer the QB78 Deluxe in .22 from Archer Airguns. (see my review).. Great gun.. make sure to get their "gold service" and insist on a seal upgrade (pay the extra.. it is worth it)
What would you recommend? The Beeman wolverine carbine with the RS1 trigger or the Crosman Quest 1000x. I'm thinking of getting the Crosman Quest 1000x but i'm not sure.
I went on your website, it was good. You wrote you had a 2260, I know that if you do not get the steel breech upgrade, you will have to get those clamp on scope mounts. But If you do get the steel breech upgrade, do you still need to buy those?

two completely different technologies... the "GAS RAM" is a metal spring replacement in a break barre rifle. CO2 is a compressed propellant. The durability of the gas ram is up in the air right now.. only time will tell. Springs wear out, I'm guessing the gas ram will to. With CO2 you are always having to buy co2 so they all have their down sides. I like the Gas Ram for the power, reduced recoil, and generally smoother shooting.
i hear many people say that bbs destroy the rifling of the barrel but y does it do tht isnt it all the same fitting .17 .22 nd whatnot y does it destroy it. thank you Mr. Rick
Generally air "rifles" shoot pellets... some shoot both pellets and bbs (crosman pumpmasters for example) but the bb's kill the rifling in the barrels after a while. All of them propel their projectiles by air. Some you pump up, some use a spring and an air compression chamber, some use co2, and some use very high pressure air.
The physics of it all is the same as a shooting a spit ball in class. When you blow air in a straw... stuff comes out the other side.
"technically" they say "serious injury and fatality can occur" if misused. This gun could kill someone, as could most airguns. You need to follow proper shooting guidelines when using it.
hey there.. I had the 2260 in and just let it go recently. It is a decent rifle and shot well, but I did not have time to review it. Which benjamin are you talking about....? Send a link to my email when you can.
Hi Rick! Really nice Vid. here.. like it. nway, may i please know how far you did the shots? i mean how may meters/yards? do you have idea to what is the effective range of this gun?
thanks for the comments.. it's been a while since I did this review.. I think I was about 15 yards away. I'd say that 15 yards is about the effective range.
Does crosman even make the 2260se anymore? If not would buying a normal 2260, putting a steel breech on it and putting a scope on it make it the same? And is there any semi automatic airguns with wooden stock for sale?
I'm not familiar with all the available upgrades out there for the crosman co2 guns. I know you can do a whole lot with them. As for semi-automatic airguns, Yes, there are a few out there. They will be CO2 or PCP. Take a look at PyramydAir's site.
hello there. i will soon buy a pellet gun and i have some questions. first i am deciding between crosman 1000x and beeman. which is better? second what is the range of shooting with egg. 1000fps?
seen alot of your videos theyre very good. i was wondering whether you have herd of the parker hale striker? its the same as the bsa lightning i think but a feew different bits to it, its .177 and i was wondering what the velocity is on it ? thanks.
here i have a request..can u make a video on how too shoot with a scope i know most of what u need but be nice too be how u do it had different ranges and stuff like that
I would have to say no. At 20 yards it will not activate my gamo knock down squirrel field target. I just don't think it has the power to do the job without just wounding your game.
I hope to get to one. I've got one of the standard 2260's that I've been working with, but the weather has been too cold for CO2 reviews. I hope that will change soon.
It is call PellGunOil, made by Crosman specifically to lubricate the internal parts on CO2 bb and pellet guns. You can get it at PyramydAir and other distributors.
I'm guessing that by keeping the parts lubricated they last longer. As for performance, I'm not sure that it does anything other than help maintain proper seals thereby maintaining proper pressure and velocity.
I recently bought a new Crossman .177 air gun with about 700Fps... i was wondering if this amount of speed would be enough to take small game like squirrels and birds using pellets like the Crossman Destroyer, flat, or domed pellets
Hey there.. I dropped you a note on one of your other posts.. but here is a copy:
You should be ok if you keep your shots to 20 yards or less. Also, make sure that you can hit a quarter reliably from whatever distance you plan to shoot from. That way you can make clean kills and not just wound your game.
i did recieve the initial message, i posted the question twice cus it said it didnt go through on the first video.... i guess it did.... cant rely on internet for the truth
Really like your videos. I don't know why anyone would buy a Co2 gun because the cost of the Co2 cartridges will eventually exceed the added cost of a high quality gun either spring or pcp.
I'm glad you like the videos.. I'm sure you are right on the math regarding the co2... However, I try to remind folks that hobbies are never really based on financial common sense... Rather people get them because they just like them... I love shooting CO2 for target practice or just plinking in the back yard... Doesn't have to make sense financially.
20 meters is fairly easy. 100 meters is stretching it. Neither will work at 100 meters. You'll need either a PCP rifle like the Discovery, or a Magnum Srping Rifle like the TechForce Contender 89 or RWS 850 Magnum. Also for 100 meters you need .22 vs .177. As for the L96 AWP, that is an airsoft rifle and would not work for shooting rats or crows. It shoots plastic while these others shoot lead at velocities more than double airsoft.
you are welcome.. give PyarmyAir a try and spend the extra $10 on their 10-4-10 service. They'll shoot ten shots with the rifle before they send it out to make sure that you don't get a bad gun. Well worth the extra $10. If you call them.. Please tell them that Rick Eutsler from AirGunWeb sent you their way.

i found a pump acton .117 air rifle that comes with a scope new for 50 bucks but its 300 fps how shity is that
suzuki834 2 years ago
"technically" they say "serious injury and fatality can occur" if misused. This gun could kill someone, as could most airguns. You need to follow proper shooting guidelines when using it.

can you do the 2260? or the benjamin steroid version .22 caliber
brandonan14 2 years ago
hey there.. I had the 2260 in and just let it go recently. It is a decent rifle and shot well, but I did not have time to review it. Which benjamin are you talking about....? Send a link to my email when you can.

Nope.

The Destroyer pellets did more damage to the paper.

One question, I have a Norica Krono, I read somewhere that it's a Single shot, spring piston, break barrel rifle.
Does my gun use CO2 canisters?
Cause I don't have an extra.
MazzazzK 2 years ago
don't know that rifle.. check with Tom Gaylord over at PyramydAir's blog.

Hi Rick! Really nice Vid. here.. like it. nway, may i please know how far you did the shots? i mean how may meters/yards? do you have idea to what is the effective range of this gun?
oretxua 2 years ago
thanks for the comments.. it's been a while since I did this review.. I think I was about 15 yards away. I'd say that 15 yards is about the effective range.
Rick
AirGunWeb 2 years ago
I get about 30 to 40 shots per co2.
Rick
AirGunWeb 2 years ago
How long do you get out of each co2 canister? thanks
nicski5264 2 years ago
I believe you can still get the 2260. You may want to consider a TechForce 78 deluxe. I should be getting one in soon to review.
Rick
AirGunWeb 2 years ago
Does crosman even make the 2260se anymore? If not would buying a normal 2260, putting a steel breech on it and putting a scope on it make it the same? And is there any semi automatic airguns with wooden stock for sale?
brian80o 2 years ago
I'm not familiar with all the available upgrades out there for the crosman co2 guns. I know you can do a whole lot with them. As for semi-automatic airguns, Yes, there are a few out there. They will be CO2 or PCP. Take a look at PyramydAir's site.

Does crosman still make all of their guns in the USA
brian80o 2 years ago
nope.. all in china.. Just the Benjamin Discovery and the Sheridan pump rifles are still made here. Maybe some of the custom stuff as well.

instead of just using a drop of pelgunoil, could i use a drop of any other type of lubricating oil, or maybe wd40?
sorrentino97 2 years ago
nope... most likely it will eat the seals.. Stick with what was made for the job.
Hope that helps.

seen alot of your videos theyre very good. i was wondering whether you have herd of the parker hale striker? its the same as the bsa lightning i think but a feew different bits to it, its .177 and i was wondering what the velocity is on it ? thanks.

That is a good idea.. I actually have a set of training videos that I'd like to do. I'll see if I can work that in.

hey rick.does the crosman destroyer work well in the walther lever action
wevin37 3 years ago
From what I remember it worked ok.. but not as well as the Gamo Magnums.
Rick
AirGunWeb 3 years ago
I would have to say no. At 20 yards it will not activate my gamo knock down squirrel field target. I just don't think it has the power to do the job without just wounding your game.
Rick

What about the 2260SE? . Any reviews in the works?
bigdon90 3 years ago
I hope to get to one. I've got one of the standard 2260's that I've been working with, but the weather has been too cold for CO2 reviews. I hope that will change soon.
Rick
AirGunWeb 3 years ago
I've seen you say on multiple videos that you should add a drop of oil on the top of the co2 cartridge, but what does it do?
t3hDRIFT 3 years ago
It is call PellGunOil, made by Crosman specifically to lubricate the internal parts on CO2 bb and pellet guns. You can get it at PyramydAir and other distributors.
Hope that helps.
Rick
AirGunWeb 3 years ago
haha yea i know that part, but i mean how does it help the gun perform, do you have any idea?
t3hDRIFT 3 years ago
I'm guessing that by keeping the parts lubricated they last longer. As for performance, I'm not sure that it does anything other than help maintain proper seals thereby maintaining proper pressure and velocity.

that's a cool gun!

I recently bought a new Crossman .177 air gun with about 700Fps... i was wondering if this amount of speed would be enough to take small game like squirrels and birds using pellets like the Crossman Destroyer, flat, or domed pellets
SilentSalvation1995 3 years ago
Hey there.. I dropped you a note on one of your other posts.. but here is a copy:
You should be ok if you keep your shots to 20 yards or less. Also, make sure that you can hit a quarter reliably from whatever distance you plan to shoot from. That way you can make clean kills and not just wound your game.
Rick

Really like your videos. I don't know why anyone would buy a Co2 gun because the cost of the Co2 cartridges will eventually exceed the added cost of a high quality gun either spring or pcp.
888zzz 3 years ago
I'm glad you like the videos.. I'm sure you are right on the math regarding the co2... However, I try to remind folks that hobbies are never really based on financial common sense... Rather people get them because they just like them... I love shooting CO2 for target practice or just plinking in the back yard... Doesn't have to make sense financially.

What would you suggest?
GAMO Whisper / Crosman 1760 SE or the L96 AWP?
DaXwPlaX 3 years ago
What do you want to shoot? the Gamo Whisper and the 1760 are very different rifles. I'm unfamiliar with the L96 AWP.

Basicaly, I want to hunt Rats / Crows.
The distances I am talking about are between 20 to 100 meters.
If you would do your next review on the L96 AWP I will really appriciate it.
It seems like a very powerful rifle, and it has very stable handling and stock is perfect.
Thank you.
DaXwPlaX 3 years ago
20 meters is fairly easy. 100 meters is stretching it. Neither will work at 100 meters. You'll need either a PCP rifle like the Discovery, or a Magnum Srping Rifle like the TechForce Contender 89 or RWS 850 Magnum. Also for 100 meters you need .22 vs .177. As for the L96 AWP, that is an airsoft rifle and would not work for shooting rats or crows. It shoots plastic while these others shoot lead at velocities more than double airsoft.
Hope that helps.
Rick
AirGunWeb 3 years ago
Thank you very much for taking the time on answering my questions.
Yes it helped a lot, and I think I will take the RWS 850 Magnum.
Thanks again!
DaXwPlaX 3 years ago
you are welcome.. give PyarmyAir a try and spend the extra $10 on their 10-4-10 service. They'll shoot ten shots with the rifle before they send it out to make sure that you don't get a bad gun. Well worth the extra $10. If you call them.. Please tell them that Rick Eutsler from AirGunWeb sent you their way.
Thanks!
