So when writing a song, could you theoretically just pick any chords you want and sing in any pitch/octave that you want on any note you want? Or do you want to pick a chord where the tonic is the same as your starting note in said song? Or perhaps just use a chord where the notes in the chord reflect the notes I would be singing?

Believe it or not but lol i actually learned how to play and sing at the same time by like singing along with songs on my ipod while typing and talking to people on facebook like it helped me think about both things and i got used to it and its helped with my guitar skills ALOT
