This happened back in 2005. What has become of this incident?

Well, the incident apparently is still being investigated by the Michigan Bar (Doyle O'Connor is an attorney), as of this January at least, as part of a larger investigation dealing with O'Connor's later refusal to follow a court order. And people still occasionally comment on it to me - even, or especially, Democrats.
No action ever was taken against Brewer formally, because there really is nothing formal that could be done given that he the MDP party chairman and had no ethical obligations.

Brewer must go! He is ruining the State and not helping good democratic thinking to progress.
