Hey man Thanks a lot ... i'm trying to learn the basics of Java programming so that i can start a class for Software Designer ...
i learned some things from your tutorials and i'm couriois because i'll be taking my exaam on a Windows platform and i'm practising on my Mac ... is there a difference on the code between platforms ?
I'm enjoying your Java vids...watched 8, 9. Loved the FizzBuzz. I like that you are onto some more advanced beginner topics, such as for-if etc.
Do you have one on methods, scope and all that jazz. I'm hung up on Malik chapter 7 (zzzzz and it confuses the heck outta me). I know it's not rocket science, but I was doing fine up until that chapter....and so...Fashion Nugget, huh? on VINYL...wow! Didn't know that even existed. And Serenity. Good vids and good taste. Goin' the distance.

I tried the FizzBuzz experiment 5 times before I managed to get rid of the errors, I just wrote a crap load of if else statements to start off with but they slowly disappeared ;)

Self-educating for now so far programming is just a hobby but it's interesting none the less. I use to play around alot with good old QBASIC. But then i figured id probably need to graduate. I'm slowly getting down the basics of java now. Watched your videos and some other ones online. So im not too sure if swing is too much of a big jump for me just yet. But from text tutorials doesn't seem too bad. I just learn better from video/audio.
I'm glad to hear you're going through the self-educating route... that's what I had to do too. Except this was 10 years ago and there wasn't such a thing as youtube, unfortunately. Although it's ten times as hard to go this route it's also a lot more rewarding. It will be cool to see what life is like 10 years from now - once you have brushed up on programming the hard way, will there be a learning tool even more powerful than Youtube that you're going to post stuff on?
If you would like to follow an actual educational program, and do assignments & watch video lessons from the stanford university you could do that by either going to their channel (StanfordUniversity) or searching Java methodology, and follow Professor Mehran Sahami's lectures. This is the best video lectures found Online, and they are fully packed up with Humor and Programming. Enjoy :)

Great! I'm glad to have the opportunity to dialogue with someone who has:
1) already got a degree
2) knows that that doesn't mean they're done learning
