People must remember that automatic race/drag cars don't use your traditional 4-6 speed torque converter... They are 2-3 speed converters with custom ratios to suit a cars need. Just one of these converters in itself is worth 1/2 of an average men car price. So to say autos are boring or not a real drivers car is simply not fair... Street legal tuner cars will mostly have manual transmission for the sake of being more frugal, that is it. Cant drive in traffic w/ 1000hp on 2-3 speed auto tranny..

Only very expensive automatic trannys shift as fast as a human could with a manual. Thats why they use sequential gearboxes in racing which are still manual. And a Supra auto tranny is sure as hell not shifting faster than the manual is. I know it because I have been driving Supras for 12 years and know em in and out. Most of the time people just take auto trannys if they dragrace much and dont want to risk misshifting and destroying the tranny that way.

@Brimmy11 True in alot of what you said but the whole "shifts faster" statement does depend on the year and type of transmission, i actually believe the 4speed auto in the supra doesnt shift as fast as a good driver ripping it in a v160....and the high HP vehicles like lambos, r8s, ferraris have a completely different twin clutch system that indeed makes it shift fast a sh*t, most car enthusiasts dont have that luxury.
