With out the reverse engines in real life would the plane have been able to stop before the end of the runway at this airport.Once a plane is on the ground is FSX accurate .Does FSX give you the specs on how long a runway you need to have to get the plane stopped with no reverse .

In a real situation you wouldnt of used the reverse thrust... there was a inncerdent where a BA jet used reverse thrust during a engine fire and all it did was blow the flames onto the passenger cabin fulslarge (carnt spell it).... This is the kind of situations where a virtual co-pilot is more than helpful.

I use something called Multi Crew Experience (for which there is a demo), and FSX & FS9 are so much fun. You need a microphone though, as we are talking voice control here! :-))

On modern planes today pilots routinely do autolandings. Pilots in United was required to do at least one autolanding per 30 days 5 years ago. What the policy is today I don't know. But of course if you include taxiing in the landing you are correct. There are no automated taxiing of aircraft (at least not yet).

Autopilot uses the autoland to land the aircraft, just type in the ILS Nav frequency, press the approach switch and it will take you all the way down to 200 feet agl, then, you dis-engage the autopilot and autothrottle, let the aircraft continue to drift towards the runway, and then at about 30 feet, raise the nose, idle the throttles, that's called the flare, the aircraft touches down, and if you have all the switches and levers in the right place, the aircraft will decelerate sufficiently.

The auto pilot in a lot of passenger jets can and does land the plane. CameraManMillenium is correct. You do however need three coupled autopilots functioning to do it. Some airports have the setup so that the plane can taxi and dock the plane.

An ILS CATIII landing can take you all the way down to the runway and even control the aircraft on the runway after landing. If there is poor visibility on landing, the autopilot can bring the plane right down to the ground, including flaring the aircraft. So, the pilot doesn't necessarily have to ever take over if he doesn't want to, as long as the aircraft and runway are capable of an autoland+flare.
