You have to be a lance cprl. To be a scout sniper I believe and yes. You can be a force recon sniper. It is VERY difficult tho. But all in all to answer your question yes you can be both

@USMCxXxKid Yes just as stated earlier you can be both. However if you are looking to do so I recommend that first you talk to your recuiter to get a recon contract. That way after completion of infantry training you have a slot in the Basic Recon Course (BRC). Upon completion of BRC you might do some schooling or just go straight to a battalion. When you get into a team let your ops chief know that your intrested, if he sees that your worthy and if you have time they will send you to the SSBC

@plumber6936 you can join US military & not be a US citizen; you just have to be a legal US resident. My dad was USAF; we lived in Ottawa for 3 years in the 90's.. i ended up joining the Army, but so did a Canadian kid i knew from 8th grade LOL.. military is a SMALL world :) but yeah, he was Infantry & a sniper in Iraq. So i guess figure out how to move to the States legally, & then go see a recruiter. Lots of Canadians joined up in Nam, while our hippies ran to Canada to get out of the draft...

Bwahahaha so many funny comments on here, dont get me wrong being a marine is probably twice as hard as i would imagine, and i respect the men who become one.
However to say that they are doing it to defend themself and/or their country is ridiculous, but on the other hand, soldiers are being trained to be obedient and to some extend ignorant so i somehow can understand it, since they just dont know any better.
So atleast educate yourself, instead of mindless OOORAH !
