@Vulcansugar Actually, most people outside half a mile would have probably survived had they ducked & covered - especially the poor people getting hit by glass. Gen in this movie gets away without a scratch thanks to a small concrete wall
This is actually more accurate than the crappy BBC documentary - no one was vaporised ( the fireball didn't reach the ground), the bomb was dropped by parachute and a lot if people died by flying glass (hence duck & cover which ignorant smart asses like to make fun of). The bomb didn't actually hit the Aioi bridge though - it missed by about 250 metres.
@Eddyisrich403 uh it was a joke you fuckin retard. Are you really that stupid? I even gave you an "Lol"...do you need me spell out the word "joke" next time? Really?
I hate war so much; I love the men and woman who serve, but seriously, it makes me sick to my stomach. This is going to sound cliche, but I truly wish we could all get along... I don't think anyone deserves to die because we don't get along (for many different reasons, unfortunately). I especially don't think that people who have absolutely nothing to do with the war should be effected, it's awful.
to be honest i do not hate Japanese people but while the bomb droped on hiroshima was not unavoidable it was favorable over an invasion because if we invaded many many more americans and japanese people would of died
@alternateGRAMMAR If we didn't drop the bombs Japan would never have surrendered and many, many more people would have died in the inevitable invasion of the Japanese mainland, something that was already planned should the bombs fail to work. The bombs killed thousands so that millions would not die. Even the modern Japanese government realizes this. Would you have preferred a slow, costly and inefficient invasion or two mercy blows to end the war right away? Think.
@SuperAquila83 People died. Get over it. It was inevitable that nuclear warheads were going to be used on civilian targets because the world had never encountered that kind of devastation before. now that the world has seen over 100 nuclear detonations, the likelihood of another being detonated by a government of a developed country is nil to naught. that's war for you. even if you don't think you're involved, you still are. and btw/fyi russia made the biggest bombs. not the US
The Japanese werent no saints either,You think a nuke is bad? at leat its a quick death, more could be said for the thousands the Japanese Tortured and raped.
Go ahead and cry for the war victims of Hiroshima... but say a prayer of thanks for the 1,000,000+ American servicemen that didn't get killed or wounded in an invasion of Japan. Stretch your meager imagination a bit, shake off the Anti-American horse sh*t you have swallowed for years, and be thankful your ancestor didn't get killed in a battle for Tokyo.
Also, This video is unrealistic because 1. The flash of light from a nuclear bomb instantly vaporizes all flesh on your body. There is no pain, no melting eyebalss, none of that. You are literaly dead at the speed of light. The shockwave is enough to turn your bones into dust and strip the paint of buildings.
@Xiones11 Only the people close to the epicenter would instantly evaporate, but the people who were not close died very painfully and some were ravaged by cancer and painful burns and poisoning and such and suffered for years or decades.
Wow. we dont need to justify this "mass murder". you did it for us by killing hundreds of thousands of more people than we did with two nuclear weapons. You think you have it bad? You dont see the jews and the ukranians complaining when over 13 million of them combined were killed. Oh, you probably think your better than all of them dont you. 7 million ukranians starved by Stalin 5 million jews by hitler. Your ancestors killed nearly a million innocents. WE DONT NEED JUSTIFICATION TO KILL YOU
there Fucking eye balls.!!! oh my god. who ever made this cartoon is mentally demented .=( . i started thinking it was Pokemon some kids cartoon. imagine my shock when there eyes balls started falling out. i dont think am Gonna be the same ever again after seeing this =(
to be honest, its hard to tell if it was the right answer... on one side ur talking the deaths of 100,000 + civilians as a result of these bombings, but if we had chosen the alternative and initiated a full scale invasion, we have to wonder how many civilians would've died then? its a hard thing to have to think about, definitely one of the more darker times in human history
This cartoon is taken out of context. Let me post some facts for you guys. Casualties from both atomic bombings: At least 150,000 Japanese dead Victims from Japanese genocide: 3,000,000 Chinese 400,000 Indochinese 300,000 Koreans 300,000 Indonesians 100,000 Filipinos 60,000 Burmese And at least 300,000 more. Japan declared they would keep fighting until the last Japanese was standing, the bombings were done so there would be less killings than with a full-scale invasion of the country.
@BigDogJang0 Seriously? Are you trying to justify the atom bombing? It didnt only kill thousands civilians, children etc, but also had a imense impact on the people that survived. The radiation poisoning is the trully horrifying thing. Intentional slaughter of innocent civilians is a warcrime. It cant be justified.
@eeorer9 You're right when you say every Japanese person wasn't out to get America. But back then, the Japanese soldiers were unbelievably loyal fighters who would fight until the very last man for their country and emperor. A Jap solider would literally run out into a troop of US soldiers if he was the last man--Hopefully, he could at least kill one more for Japan. We offered the option of surrender to Japan *multiple* times. If we had invaded by foot, the death would have been unbelievable.
@pokemonmisty101 fyi Hiroshima was the hq of the Japanese 2nd General Army under Field Marshal Hata. 43,000 j troops were in the city & 20,000 died in the bombing.
The atomic bombs ended the war.
I suggest you find a ex-Canadian POW who suvived J imprisonment & ask him how he feels about the atomic bombs
@NintendoNaut You're absolutely right- the obvious answer was to take the lives of 90,000+ innocent people. Because we all know that every single Japanese person was out to get us.
I remember I once went to a anti-nuclear gathering one day. What I remember the most was a sign or poster that one of the people was carrying. It showed Dwight Eisenhower and it read "If I thought the net gain was on my side, I would use it immediately!"
@TheYuuzhan Yes, a nuclear bomb is terrible. However you have to think that the japanese in this time was ULTRA NATIONALITSIC, loyal ally to NAZI GERMANY, liberal people today INTENTOINALLY forget this because they are so ashamed that a non white race has suffered because of their acton
@TheMidwestsk8ter Perhaps. But the only way we can all live in peace is if we correct all our mistakes, help others, grant equality to everyone, scale down our militaries, stop global warming, abolish nuclear weapons, end our dependence on money, stop disease, and, if they even exist, unite in the even that we encounter another civilization beyond the stars.
But how can we do all that? You can't change 6 billion human hearts and souls just like that...
You know, just to even things out, there should be a cartoon showing an innocent Chinese family being bombed, raped, and slaughtered by imperial Japanese soldiers for no reason other than the fact they were Chinese.
La guerra es una estupidez siempre posible, mientras haya mentes capaces de justificar todas sus atrocidad en nombre de un bien supuestamente superior...
guys, yes what happened in Hiroshima and Nagasaki was a terrible thing, i'm honestly amazed the japanese have forgiven the west for dropping them.
but the fact is, back then if the bombs werent dropped, the army of america, australia, england and china would take at least another years to conquer japan, and by the end there would be nothing of japan left, just a wasteland of rubble, tens of millions of deaths and it would still be a dead wasteland today.
@JuanIgnacioGreen its simple we did what we had to do we didnt want to get into WW2 but they asked for it when they bombed pearl Harbor we didnt have a choice it was either thousands of them or thousands of american troops being slaughtered, the main reason most dont like the nuke is because it is dirty warefare, ther is a saying Alls fair in love and War
@JuanIgnacioGreen Seriously? How can people think that the USA is this evil? We did not drop the bomb to kill innocent lives of women and children. We used it to end the war. Do you not remember pearl harbor? The people they killed were 100% innocent, since we werent even in the war yet. They dragged us into it. So now, you think this is really as bad as you think it is? Yes, it was sad, but it was necessary.
@JuanIgnacioGreen what do you expect from americans? They are a bunch of retarded ignorant mixed shit. They talking about AMERICA they do not remember that there are NOT americans but just a mix of all of the worst person from all arround the world = America. Fuck them! Fuck America!
@TakaoMoriguchi The US sent *twelve* men to the moon and got them all home safely.
You could look up their names yourself- or, if you want someone to answer a question, you'll get much better results if you show a bit of good manners- and avoid acting like the lower terminus of an alimentary canal.
The ones caught in the blast wouldnt have felt a thing, the explosion combined with the wind influx would have vaporized them in less then 1/4 of a second they wouldnt have had time to rejester the pain b4 death, yes it was a terrible accurance but it was war we did what we had to do. In fact Nasasaci wouldnt have been neccessary if Japan had surrendered after the first one was dropped.
Also, Rummel's democratic peace theory has nothing to do with how valid or invalid his research is . John Dower's numbers are also much lower than yours.
200,000 is too low; the conservative estimate is close to 250,000. I've never before heard that the Japanese killed 16 million Chinese civilians. R.J. Rummel put the number of civilians and prisoners they polished off in all of Asia at just under 6 million. The Encyclopedia Americana says that "several million" Chinese civilians perished.
@MrAcarine Funny, the lowest estimate is 7 million, top 16 million, combined death toll, not counting casualities, is lowest 10 million and top 20 million. JUST IN CHINA.
Of course, Americans never fully taken in the effect of the "Three Alls Policy", as well as the use of bacteriological weapons by the Japanese.
And I don't trust an idiot who lives in the imaginary world of "Democratic peace theory"
How is the killing of inosence any different from what they were doing. We are supposed to be the example for other countries in our countries eyes, but that kind of thinking is for uneducated rednecks, yahoo kill all of um. The creation of those weapons was the biggest mistake our country could have ever made and for even thinking of using something like that on humans even in a time of war our country shouldn't be looked at as heroes they should be despised.
The second A bomb was necessary to knock some senses into their Emperor to override the Facist government's decision with continuing the war. The first was not enough as historical records show the Emperor still shared the optimism and will to fight with the Facist government. A civil uprising against the Facist government and the Emperor would likely ended the war less painfully but such things are taboo in Imperial Japan. The two A bombs were necessary for any practical decision maker.
Historical record shows that only after the two atomic bombs did the Japanese Emperor for once went against the will of the facist military government. Even with the first A bomb, both the Facist and Japanese war supporters weren't willing to stop the war. (In fact, you can find footage of those, dying with burns from A bomb, wanted to continuation of the war by crying "Banzai" for the Imperial War effort.) No one had the interest and the power to end the war in the facist military government.
this is horrible but it saved many more lives an invasion would have killed many many more people even the inocent so its horrible but it may have been better its all in how you look at it but its horrible what they went through
Are we really going to be so ignorant as to drop bombs on each other to prove a point? I love America, and am very happy to have grown up in America. This bomb is not American though. This is not what America stands for. We just got a few shits in the system who thought it'd be good to drop a bomb on people. If you study history, you'd know that Japan was planning to surrender, and they were down to their last men. We took it way too far. 我々は、同じ生物学を共有します。に関係なく、イデオロギーの
@KramerPacer83 Study history? GREAT IDEA! J army had 2.3 MILLION troopsto defend the Home Islands. 240,000 died on Okinawa. Kyushu's garrison was x10 larger. Do the math.
Wow the majority of these comments on this page are fucked up. Okay how bout when we are attacking the middle east, the middle east drops a bomb like this on us? And the middle east is like ' don't fuck with the middle east'...
@jubjub444 If you don't know history and have no idea of the consequences should the US NOT dropped the bombs, please refrain from getting your fingers anywhere near a keyboard.
@xesolor Wow your stupid, okay drop a bomb on innocent people who didn't even have a say in attacking the U.S.... The problem is they were not the people who attacked us. We could of just dropped bombs on their military base, like THEY DID TO US.
@jubjub444 Wow you ARE stupid, the problem was unless the US forced immediate surrender from Japan, not just 10,000 people in some Japanese will die, some 1,000,000 or more civilians from ACROSS ASIA will die, do you want 990,000 more people to die?
Oh and by the way, Hiroshima and Nagasaki had strategic military presence, had the Americans wanted to just kill civilians they could've just targeted Tokyo, they didn't just point at a random point on the map you d**k.
@xesolor Yes i know that thats why i said, they should of just bombed their military bases...like the japanese did to our base, but we are bombing more of their bases
@jubjub444 LOOK AT THE LINK I PROVIDED, Jesus, Hiroshima was a vital Japanese military base, Truman awaited for the Japanese to surrender, but the Japanese gave no inclination whatsoever, so Truman was forced to drop a second bomb in Nagasaki - a major military industrial town.
Prior to the bombing Truman sent a message urging all Japanese civilians to evacuate military industrial complexes, the bomb was to targeted to destroy military industry, the Japanese didn't, their own demise.
@xesolor Those civilians didn't know english, so thats why a lot of them didn't even know... And lots of americans didn't know japanese, including truman, so thats why they didn't even know if japan surrendered before the 2nd bomb, truman was never forced to do anything. And before FDR died FDR wasn't even going to drop the bomb, he was going to try to make a treaty with Japan.
@jubjub444 "Those civilians didn't know english"? You're joking right? There are TRANSLATORS in BOTH COUNTRIES you genius, had the Japanese wished to surrender before the 2nd bomb they COULD'VE DONE IT, EASILY, they were in diplomatic relationship with neutral Switzerland, it's wasn't exactly as hard as going to Mars if Japan wanted to contact the US.
@jubjub444 Yes Truman was forced to drop the bombs, because military analysis of a full invasion on the Japanese home island would mean catastrophic death tolls for BOTH the Americans AND Japan, not to mention untold civilian death in Asia at the hands of stranded, furious Japanese troops - HALF of the Japanese army at the time was in China.
@jubjub444 Last point - FDR already passed away when the notion of using the Atomic Bomb was even thought of. They didn't even make a WORKING PROTOTYPE when FDR was alive, FDR had no idea if America could even MAKE a atomic bomb, let alone using one, how the hell could he have thought of ANYTHING?
@jubjub444 "FDR ...was trying to make apeace treaty with Japan"? BULLSHIT! Unconditonal Surrenderwas FDR's policy- there is NO evidence that he wouldn't have used the A bombs.
@kentamitchell Yep. No evidence. Of course, other than the multiple times we tried to make peace with Japan. Japanese war stratagy consits of "fight hard to the last man". They regardless of the peace treaty that was negotiated between Japan and the entire Allied forces, not just America. Serious, the Potsdam decleration. Google that shit.
@jubjub444 Not having any say ? What about the people in Manchuria ? The bomb dropped in Japan was more sterile and killed more people, but what the Japanese did to the people in Manchuria was more cruel and personal . That was premeditated , what they did just to make people die and suffer the way they did . Just saying .
@pubsterguy I don't justify the use of atomic bombs purely because of "revenge", there's no point in that, killing more won't bring the dead back to life.
Having said that, Japan wasn't going to surrender unless their war criminals were fully acquitted of their crimes, which is like allowing mass-murderers and rapists go free, the atomic bomb was the only thing that forced the Japanese to quickly surrender and face their rightful criminal prosecution.
@xesolor So, what was the total number of kills between each of those war criminals? The equivalent of two atomic bombs? A "war crime" is a very subjective thing!
@Prinsdam You tw*t, do you know what the Japanese did in the Second Sino-Japanese War and WWII? The max. casualty at both Hiroshima and Nagasaki is around 200,000, including military personnel.
IN CHINA ALONE 20,000,000 WERE MURDERED BY THE JAPANESE, 16,000,000 OF WHICH WERE UNARMED CIVILIANS! In comparison total Japanese losses only cumulated to around 3,000,000 combined!
YES, THE WAR CRIMES THE JAPANESE COMMITTED WERE WORTH 100 ATOMIC BOMBS.
@jubjub444 Completely different. America was refusing to enter an international war envolving some its closest allies until it was forced in by an unprovoked terrorist attack that severly damaged our navy. America was also brought into the Middle East when an unprovoked terrorist attack killed 2,000 people and hit the Pentagon and WTC. We jumped in there to settle a revolutionary military coup by Al-Qaeda and disable a terrorist organization. Tell me how they are similar.

007wrestlingking 1 week ago
@JuanIgnacioGreen Seriously? How can people think that the USA is this evil? We did not drop the bomb to kill innocent lives of women and children. We used it to end the war. Do you not remember pearl harbor? The people they killed were 100% innocent, since we werent even in the war yet. They dragged us into it. So now, you think this is really as bad as you think it is? Yes, it was sad, but it was necessary.

MrAcarine 2 weeks ago

TKKTism 2 weeks ago
Historical record shows that only after the two atomic bombs did the Japanese Emperor for once went against the will of the facist military government. Even with the first A bomb, both the Facist and Japanese war supporters weren't willing to stop the war. (In fact, you can find footage of those, dying with burns from A bomb, wanted to continuation of the war by crying "Banzai" for the Imperial War effort.) No one had the interest and the power to end the war in the facist military government.

我々は、同じ生物学を共有します。に関係なく、イデオロギーの

kentamitchell 3 weeks ago
@xesolor Wow your stupid, okay drop a bomb on innocent people who didn't even have a say in attacking the U.S.... The problem is they were not the people who attacked us. We could of just dropped bombs on their military base, like THEY DID TO US.
jubjub444 2 weeks ago
@jubjub444 Wow you ARE stupid, the problem was unless the US forced immediate surrender from Japan, not just 10,000 people in some Japanese will die, some 1,000,000 or more civilians from ACROSS ASIA will die, do you want 990,000 more people to die?
Oh and by the way, Hiroshima and Nagasaki had strategic military presence, had the Americans wanted to just kill civilians they could've just targeted Tokyo, they didn't just point at a random point on the map you d**k.
xesolor 2 weeks ago
@xesolor Yes i know that thats why i said, they should of just bombed their military bases...like the japanese did to our base, but we are bombing more of their bases
jubjub444 2 weeks ago
@jubjub444 LOOK AT THE LINK I PROVIDED, Jesus, Hiroshima was a vital Japanese military base, Truman awaited for the Japanese to surrender, but the Japanese gave no inclination whatsoever, so Truman was forced to drop a second bomb in Nagasaki - a major military industrial town.
Prior to the bombing Truman sent a message urging all Japanese civilians to evacuate military industrial complexes, the bomb was to targeted to destroy military industry, the Japanese didn't, their own demise.
xesolor 2 weeks ago
@xesolor Those civilians didn't know english, so thats why a lot of them didn't even know... And lots of americans didn't know japanese, including truman, so thats why they didn't even know if japan surrendered before the 2nd bomb, truman was never forced to do anything. And before FDR died FDR wasn't even going to drop the bomb, he was going to try to make a treaty with Japan.
jubjub444 2 weeks ago
@jubjub444 "Those civilians didn't know english"? You're joking right? There are TRANSLATORS in BOTH COUNTRIES you genius, had the Japanese wished to surrender before the 2nd bomb they COULD'VE DONE IT, EASILY, they were in diplomatic relationship with neutral Switzerland, it's wasn't exactly as hard as going to Mars if Japan wanted to contact the US.
xesolor 2 weeks ago
@jubjub444 Yes Truman was forced to drop the bombs, because military analysis of a full invasion on the Japanese home island would mean catastrophic death tolls for BOTH the Americans AND Japan, not to mention untold civilian death in Asia at the hands of stranded, furious Japanese troops - HALF of the Japanese army at the time was in China.
xesolor 2 weeks ago
@jubjub444 Last point - FDR already passed away when the notion of using the Atomic Bomb was even thought of. They didn't even make a WORKING PROTOTYPE when FDR was alive, FDR had no idea if America could even MAKE a atomic bomb, let alone using one, how the hell could he have thought of ANYTHING?
Read a little more, will you?

@jubjub444 "FDR ...was trying to make apeace treaty with Japan"? BULLSHIT! Unconditonal Surrenderwas FDR's policy- there is NO evidence that he wouldn't have used the A bombs.
kentamitchell 2 weeks ago
@kentamitchell Yep. No evidence. Of course, other than the multiple times we tried to make peace with Japan. Japanese war stratagy consits of "fight hard to the last man". They regardless of the peace treaty that was negotiated between Japan and the entire Allied forces, not just America. Serious, the Potsdam decleration. Google that shit.
Flashfire97 2 weeks ago
@kentamitchell The Japanese would have refused anyway.
Sasudela 2 weeks ago
@jubjub444 Not having any say ? What about the people in Manchuria ? The bomb dropped in Japan was more sterile and killed more people, but what the Japanese did to the people in Manchuria was more cruel and personal . That was premeditated , what they did just to make people die and suffer the way they did . Just saying .
pubsterguy 2 weeks ago
@pubsterguy I don't justify the use of atomic bombs purely because of "revenge", there's no point in that, killing more won't bring the dead back to life.
Having said that, Japan wasn't going to surrender unless their war criminals were fully acquitted of their crimes, which is like allowing mass-murderers and rapists go free, the atomic bomb was the only thing that forced the Japanese to quickly surrender and face their rightful criminal prosecution.
xesolor 2 weeks ago
@xesolor So, what was the total number of kills between each of those war criminals? The equivalent of two atomic bombs? A "war crime" is a very subjective thing!
Prinsdam 2 weeks ago
YOU TWAT.

Prinsdam 2 weeks ago
@jubjub444 Completely different. America was refusing to enter an international war envolving some its closest allies until it was forced in by an unprovoked terrorist attack that severly damaged our navy. America was also brought into the Middle East when an unprovoked terrorist attack killed 2,000 people and hit the Pentagon and WTC. We jumped in there to settle a revolutionary military coup by Al-Qaeda and disable a terrorist organization. Tell me how they are similar.
