  • I thought it was Bill Phillips - he sang backup on some of Johnny Paycheck's recordings as well for the Little Darlin' label. It doesn't sound much like Darrell to me but you may be right. I have heard Bill Phillips sing backup on several recordings - Ray Price as well I believe.

  • Darrell McCall is singing harmony for Freddie on this one. 100% sure. FYI

  • I love Freddie Hart. Actually, grew up in same hometown..Phenix City, Al...Yeah. Now, I live across the river in Columbus.

  • this coment has nothing to do with freddy hart altho he is a great singer i'm looking for a song by don gibson called its a long long way to georgia do have it

  • Freddie Hart does this song very well, but the best one on this song was and will always be Tony Booth.

  • so it is entirely possible that the back up singer is the then 31 year old Buck Owens. That's what he sounds like to me. Freddie sounds young on this one too, so I think the people who are asking if Buck is the backup singer are probably right

  • WOW! this is the way I remember first hearing this song. I was in my teens. I did some googling on it and found out Freddie first recorded it in 1960 when he was 34 years old, and he sounds young on this recording, so I wonder if this might be his origiinal recording of it. I also googled Alvis Edgar Owens Jr and found out that although Buck recorded his first single in 1956, his first songs to hit the charts were in 1959, Second Fiddle and Under Your Spell again.

  • this came some years before my favourite cut of this great song by Tony Booth--still great though!

  • Great--but I like Buck Owens´version more!

  • WOW you got "HONKY TONK" Barefoot backwoods Beer drinking Music ...5 STARS

  • I think it is Buck

  • I think it is Buck doing back up

  • it DOES sound like Buck Owens singing backup for Freddie here, is it? Didn't Buck have a HUGE hit with this too? And Tony Booth was the guitar player for Gene Watson for MANY MANY years, is he doing this?

  • @DERedhead65 In my opinioin this is easily the WORST of the four versions of this song on youtube; totally ruined by the noisy twanging guitar. My favourite is Tony Booth, someone I had never heard off untilI I came across his version a month or two back. First heard this song, sung by a group called Manson Grant and the Dynamos, in the Stonehaven and District C&W Club, near Aberdeen, Scotland almost 20 years ago and it has been a favourite ever since, such a catchy tune and clever lyrics.

  • was that tony booth singing back up i think he had a hit on this song himself

  • Sure sounds like Buck Owens singing back up......a guess.

  • who is singing back up on this, does anyone know? voice sounds familiar almost like don rich

  • This song takes be back to Germany in 1974 when I first meet the love of my life. It was the first song that we dance to at the NCO club and yes we are still together after all these years. Thanks for posting this great song.

  • Another winner by fabulous Freddie Hart. This is one of my favorites. I do love the ballads the most because he has the voice to make them all so special. The first I ever heard him sing was "Easy Lovin" and, wow, did it ever make an impression. This one here is great to dance to, the beat is just right. I know Freddie wrote some of his songs but I wasn't sure about this one. Thanks a million for posting these wonderful classics. - Paula

  • His Easy Lovin' was his signature hit that paved the way for him. I'm so glad it did. Such a wonderful performer who has shared so much with country music!

  • I think that's the first thing that comes to everyone's mind when you here Freddie Hart....Easy Lovin'! He has had so many great songs.....he is a big part of what makes Classic Country! Thanks for listening!

  • I love this song. Anything Freddie does is top notch. I first heard it around 1978. Not too sure who sang it because for some reason I don't recall the duet. Freddie sang it on one of the country music TV shows along the way in his own style and I fell in love with his version then. He has been a big plus for country music lovers - the real deal . Always classy looking and showing how much he enjoys entertaining. Thank you for this. - Paula
