Easy to come down, all you need is clearance, not traction, and the Goler side of Mengel is very undemanding. Going up the Butte Valley side (vs. coming down it) would have resulted in a stuck Thing due to lack of traction.

There are many places a Thing can't go, and many places where a Thing will get stuck. Going down the Mengel rock garden is NOT easy but it is MUCH easier than going up in 2wd.. I cannot think of any other 2wd production cars (not trucks) that could descend the Mengel rock garden unscathed.

that thing is a billy goat, looks like a great place to drive one, here its to humid.. the rust is the biggest problem. We have to get them out west or deal with rust...East coastin.
