Cuba has always been poor, the revolution had no effect if any on the quality of life for the average Cuban. Che liberated Cuba from the global market world order, but no country can stand on its own. Cuba will always be poor. For a mess, Cuba handles its resources much better than a Capitalist country. And that's according to UNICEF, not Castro. To be objective you can't compare Cuba to the global superpower, but you can compare it to Haiti or Jamaica, which are much worse in ways.

I have family in Cuba (we are afro-cubans on that side of the family) and the younger generation cannot stand Che or Fidel -- the older (65 and over) Batista era Afro-Cubans loved Che and Fidel for a bout 15 years or so.
Now Cuba is second only in Sex Tourism to the Philipines, that other bastion of Liberty.

Cuba has always been poor, the revolution had no effect if any on the quality of life for the average Cuban. Che liberated Cuba from the global market world order, but no country can stand on its own. Cuba will always be poor. For a mess, Cuba handles its resources much better than a Capitalist country. And that's according to UNICEF, not Castro. To be objective you can't compare Cuba to the global superpower, but you can compare it to Haiti or Jamaica, which are much worse in ways.

The African slaves were brought to Latin America so they could slave in the fields and mines along with the indigenous peoples so wealthy Europeans could become rich without getting their hands dirty. The same thing happened in the American south in the cotton fields. It is hard to summarize him but here are two sources that are kind of short. Go to revleft then history and then Ernesto "Che" Guevara subforum and click the sticky Who was Che Guevara for a more unbiased opinion. Another one is LIBCOM(.)ORG and go to history and try to find the Che one.

The main problem with Communism is it seems to allow for a dictator to take absolute control. "All animals are equal but some are more equal than others" that sort of thing.
However if it were to be run properly it WOULD grant more freedoms than democracy. The problem with indoctrinated imperalists is they are taught in school that democracy and communism are opposites. This is ignorant considering communism is an economic policy.
