  • I wouldn't mind starting up a Jedi chapter, but ours will be hardcore. Martial arts training along with force sensitivity training. Been practicing, so don't make an padawan/apprentice actually do the job reserved for masters of the force. Gimme about one more year of self training and I will be close to an master =)

I will gladly demonstrate too, the force is getting stronger with me.

  • You do shed a lot of wisdom that is true. I believe we should have one church however, the groups of Jediism should look into this idea, one church is one voice and we could get much more done.

  • Thank you! I've been trying to gain insight from other true Jedis on this thing. You take this seriously and shed a lot of wisdom.

  • wtb the force.

  • @eveplayer12 wtb can mean a number of things- I'm afraid I do not know what exactly it means here. Could you clarify? :)

  • meh its just Buddhism with toy lightsabers

  • @wd1250 No, no, it's really NOT. Plus, the majority of us don't carry around lightsabers.

  • @Setanaoko Well, I would say it's fairly similar to Zen Buddhism. Wouldn't you? Or perhaps Taoism. Although there are many sects and subsects of Jediism.

  • @jackthefrenchguy I'm not really into the whole Zen thing, but there are some similarities-but Zen Buddhism doesn't really have the hero's journey incorporated into it (from what I can tell-I may have just missed it entirely though). Perhaps the best person to ask that question would be John Phelan of Temple of the Jedi Order who is an actual Zen Master. :)

  • An interesting video, to be sure. Here's a question - is there such a thing as "doing it wrong" in your opinion with regards to Jediism/being a "Jedi"?

I also think that Mr Jones is probably *still* not taking it *entirely* seriously, tbh. Having researched the subject in depth, for a variety of reasons, I've found certain groups - such as the Temple Of The Jedi Order - clearly take it more seriously.

Anyway, good vid. Thank you for making it, it's very informative.

  • I wanna join, but i live in australia. Do you know of any churches here?

  • wait don't you have to be able to use the force to be a Jedi?! LOL?! No human does this...lol...there are no such thing than. lulz.

  • @theclash24 Throughout the ages "the Force" has been captured by the cultures around the world using different names: Magick, Teotlc, Enery, Prana, Chi/Qi/Ki, Tao, Holy Spirit, even God. To understand the use of it, watch "Force Powers". By you merely watching a video or just simply sleeping you are using "the Force". Not all Jedi believe that people can use the ability of telekinesis. Those of use who believe the ability MAY exists don't care much to explore it because it's not of any use.

  • @Setanaoko and the force is known as medichlorians which inhabit the body and can be found. Humans on earth dont have it therefor cannot minipulate the force. Please stop wasting american census space.

  • @theclash24 Midichlorians-don't make me laugh. That is the biggest bunch of BS Lucas ever came up with. His episodes 1-3 were poor in comparison to episodes 4-6. To real Jediists and Sithists, midichlorians have nothing to do with anything. But you will believe what you want, you seem to be a Star Wars Fanboy-where I am not a Star Wars Fangirl. I'm a Joseph Campbell enthusiast.

  • @Setanaoko WELL if you realize. This whole sci-fi fantasy concept was created by George Lucas...so if you like/hate midiclhorians, they are here to stay. I don't like the idea either as I liked the mystery behind the force until it was introduced-- but reguardless...its his idea, he came up with it and anything off shooting it using any of George Lucas's ideas is called "copying" to the lesser degree. I'm not a fanboy, but I do like the novels and the MMO about to come out personally.

  • @theclash24 No, no it's NOT his idea. He took it straight from Joseph Campbell (who took it from various other cultures predating his own existance) and gave it a name. As to the off shooting, and his copyright claims, well I've got a card up my own sleeve-and may well need to employ it. Did you know that a great many people use the term "Jedi" in their books on spirituality and never once give the guy credit for it? I know enough about law to know what the community can get away with-for now.

  • @Setanaoko Than I shall create SITHISM. I need an apprentice, anyone?

  • @theclash24 Already been done. In fact, some Sithists are better people than a lot of people who call themselves Jedi. Miles Robinson had a show on BlogTalkRadio called "Dark Awakening" (you can find his archived stuff there) which is very much tied in with his path as a Sithists. In life he is a very well accomplished individual as well. If you are a spiritual person, or like to hear what people have to stay in regards to their own spirituality, I think you'll like his work. :)

  • @Setanaoko Two bad it's rule of two, should only be 2...the weak should be weeded out and killed. as per sith law.

  • @theclash24 That's the "Rule of Two" from the Star Wars books, movies, etc. Not the beliefs of actual Sithism.

  • @jackthefrenchguy Well if there's Jedisim then there MUST be an Sithism?

  • @theclash24 Already exists.

  • @jackthefrenchguy sign me up

  • @theclash24 As long as the Jedi order exist, the sith will never be destroyed for the some sith come from the ranks of the Jedi itself.

  • @Wolfsbane909 i know this already...

  • Are you serious?!

  • @MrElectricdude Quite.

  • @Setanaoko In the words of Obi-Wan "You want to go home and rethink your life."

  • @MrElectricdude In all honesty, I wouldn't know if he said that-because I don't pay attention to the movies. But no, I don't want to rethink my life, you know why? Because I know something you do not- I am not of the religion Jedi, I am of the Jedi Path. My religion is Christian.

  • @Setanaoko Cool story bro.

  • @MrElectricdude chica ;) But it's okay, the Army has had me down as a male on my paperwork at least 5 times since 2003. :/

  • Thank you so much im part of the uk jediism his a joke the media mock us im thinking of kicking him out

  • This is a nice introduction to the modern-day Jedi tradition. It seems to me that most people considering themselves Jedi recognize the mythological foundation of both their own religion and some others, but also recognize that myths can often teach and guide us in a deeper way than just dry recitations of wisdom cannot. This presentation can help the newcomer begin to navigate among the different Jedi groups; nice!

  • @Tigerpaws9097826 Thank you very much for your comments. :) *bows*

  • i dont care if the gov or anyone sees it as a religion i no who i am and what i beleave in and i will always practice the ways of jediism i dont need a church just guidence i had a master teach me and now i am a jedi knight still learning and will continue to learn and maybe one day i to will become a master i like the post but i think to many people are just tryin to get attention thats all, real jedi dont seek attention. may the force be with you all

  • @AnewDaddy Some of us would like 2 c the world bcome a better place. Part of that is bridging the gap b/w ignorance of the Jedi & knowledge of us. It takes those willing be criticized 2 open up the door 4 more ppl. Sometimes, by doing something as "meaningless" as this vid, it can help other Jedi connect w/ 1 another 2 create groups that will benefit an entire community. For example (be4 this vid) a Jedi group began creating a Jedi Disaster Relief Team. I'd like 2 c more of these projects.

  • It's interesting to me really, because I tried to start one up years ago back during the days of ROTJ, unfortunately it didn't go over very well back then so it never got off the ground. If course, I live in a backwater area...lol But it's good to see that there are others out there now who are like-minded. There are many books out there to help with developing abilities, just gotta plug through the bs in them-that's my opinion anyway :)

  • "The Jedi Community" ...?

  • @xVivaLaSteven Used to describe a string of different Jedi paths: Pragmatic (the more practical-founded by Opie MacLeod), Jediism (the Religion-no founder) and Jedi Realist (a mixture between the spiritual aspect and the practical-no particular founder). You can find the majority online. Offline, well there is a site for those that are officially recognized by the Jedi Community on JediResourceCenter(dot)org.

  • Just as a note. The first website to really seek to apply fictional ideals to real life was created in 1996. And some individuals such as Streen and Mitth'raw who were active in those days created sites to help direct a more realistic ideal by 1997. The first site to take the fiction and provide "training" is often credited to Kharis Nightflyer's Praxeum. That was the beginning of an online organization which bloomed in the summer of 1999.

  • @TheOpieMacleod Thank you Opie!!! This will be QUITE helpful when I do my class on Saturday! :) *hugs*

  • @Setanaoko No problem. It is a rather in-depth subject. But a hobby of mine if you ever want to know more.

  • Religion has became far to bureaucratic... I honestly couldn't care less if its on a census... or where it stands legally... as long as I can live my way of life... I am content.

  • @TheForceUnion ...I'm kind of confused...the video I have above DEBUNKS the census as a major factor in true Jediism. Anyways, nice to meet you ForceUnion. *eyes brighten up* Would you care to share your views of Jediism with me (you could do so here or in private, as a Jedi working to do what I can for the community, I'm always interested in meeting new Jedi faces and learning about/from them. Though, I'm not going to lie- I DO make judgement calls on who I believe are Jedi and who are not.)

  • @Setanaoko Sorry for the confusion :) I wasn't really commenting on what you said I was really just pointing out that belief is belief regardless of what is on paper or a organisation you belong too. :)

Pleased to meet you too Setanaoko, My name is Juda :)

  • Great vid Seta, better than I coulda done...

    TNSSJK...

  • @ThesNazud *huggles* Thank you Thes!

  • Holyhead Church of Jediism Ltd is not more a church than the Church's Fried Chicken store. You can call a pig a peacock but it's still a pig. None of the major Jediism organizations consider you as a Jediism organization. Your Doctrine just says "watch the movies and read the books" then you go on and tell folks if they want to train they must pay for eBooks. You are posers but you have managed to united the Jediism community; that is united us against you.

  • @churchofjediism: perhaps if you actually responded to such inquiries. Yeah you say we can contact you for info. Been there, done that. It didn't work. So, what now???? We're trying to help you guys. All this publicity you're getting is making the rest of the community (yourselves included) look like a massive joke. Perhaps you need to think about how such things impact your credibility as a church, and the greater Jedi community.

  • Seta it's Master Thompson, great video! :)

  • @Setanaoko Thank you for the video =') I'm a member of TOTJO, but I wonder why you did not mention OOTJ (Order of the Jedi) of Canada? It was recognized by the Canadian gov't in 2009 as a non-profit organization. However, it has been inactive for almost a year now I think. OOTJ's Master Zen Yobi stepped down as the presiding member, months later the website was improved and updated, but almost nothing else has happened since. Admittedly, I was part of the inactivity :'/

  • @Shadoufang I was under the impression that they were a chapter of the Church of Jediism. The four I mentioned (and the possible fifth) are what I know of to be "parent churches". You wouldn't happen to have a link would you? :)

  • @Shadoufang The OOTJ has in fact been active. It is now a Chapter of the Church of Jediism, run by two very faithful members of ours, one of which is based in Québec, Canada and the other in Utah, USA. Not much site activity to my knowledge, but they are still a thriving community. MTFBWY

  • And, As I said in my post over at TOTJO.... These incidents are forever a part of our history as a belief. I just saw a picture of a Snow Trooper and another character, bell ringing for the Salvation Army..The mainstream churches are a little anal retentive as far as some things and I do understand the possibility of the negative publicity affects the Jedi community.. @ChurchofJediism.... yes, these incidents were a year ago, in the history of us, being a young belief, has enough time passed?

  • Hello, Jestor from TOTJO here... Nice video, and as I stated on the post at our site... Sound advice... One should alway investigate all possibilities before making a decision... We have people stop by who just like the messae boards, they do not even 'belong', they just enjoy the debate, and or conversation...

  • I should have made it clear that CoJ doesn't actually say they are the first, but it IS a common misnomer by those who come across Jediism. I did not intend to make is sound as though you do stake that claim, Mr. Jones. Sorry if it came off that way. Thank you for taking the time to post your own commentary. :)

  • We have never claimed that we are the first Jediist community. It's simple things like these where people simply just don't listen - the 'hood issue' was actually over a year ago now and was of course blown up by the media - again, if you have any questions we'd be happy to answer them. A lack of contact is what has made this situation even worse. We really support your cause, and think what you're doing is great - well done, keep it up. It's important to let people know how you feel.

    MTFBWY

  • @churchofjediism There has been attempts made to speak to you and your group over these issues in the past. When the Tesco incident came up in the first place, Seta and myself contacted you through email and explain our points, and the points that most of the community felt over that issue. We were told, basically that our points were only valid for our coummities and that CoJ was "different" then how the rest of the community acted.

  • @churchofjediism I also believe that a information session with various individuals and leaders in the Jedi community with CoJ was attempted at one point with Mr. Jones either walking away from it or not getting involved thinking that theses individuals we "ganging up" on him if I'm not mistaken.CoJ, if it wants to "clear up these issues", needs to make contact with the various sites on the web itself, not having these groups run to you.

  • @Clutch28 I have a transcript of that session. I'll get it up on the web today then post the URL.

  • @churchofjediism It should also be prepared to re-evaluate, and I mean that strongly re-evaluate it's practises and how it deals not only with the community but it's followers. Only then will issues be "cleared up" as it were. CoJ can from it's new position as an incorporated church in the UK, help to bring credibility to this path. but for that to truly happen, CoJ needs to take these concerns to heart and actually realize it's not criticism for just criticism's sake.

  • @Clutch28 Yes they incorporated as a For Profit company limited by shares with only one member allowed. See ChurchOfJediism period org slash business and you can read the Charter for yourself.

  • @Clutch28 Some valid points there. I have sent an email to Setanaoko. Thanks for your feedback and contribution to the Jediism community - it is greatly appreciated. May the Force be with you.

  • The reason so many people have misunderstood what we are about and what we have said is because of a lack of people actually asking any of us anything. People make so many claims and accusations but never actually ask us, "what IS the truth?" or "what DO you believe?" If you would like to speak to us, feel free to send us an email, give us a call or show up at one of our Chapters - we'd be happy to help.

    MTFBWY

  • I find it distasteful that CoJ is doing their best to put themselves out there as THE place to go if you follow the path of the Jedi Realist. They are a joke. They think that running around in robes and waves toy lightsabers around makes them Jedi? I think not. It's about applying the Jedi philosophy to your life, in a way that works for YOU. And each one of us will approach it a little differently. - Callista

  • Good video Ally, Xan here.

I find it quite interesting how CoJ says one thing publicly, and then another privately.
