@911650 I agree, these guys are actually quite nice. The way they do away with Nature's dirty work is admirable as well. They may not look cute to some people, but I think they're cool to look at, not to mention useful. Their defense mechanism can be harmful if it gets in the eyes, but it's nothing a little water can't fix.

I had this one millipede at my house thats legs stuck out and it crawled fast! It lived in my house for 2 months hiding! So we bought this really good insectiside and pestiside and sprayed all the vents! Then it came out when i tryed to go to sleep so i yelled and my mom got mad at me because she was asleep but she grabbed the spray and sprayed it! But it was still moving all over theplace like a toddler would! so my mom took a high heel and squashed it! FREAKY!

Huh we have brown millipedes that size in where i live in the Moutains of North Georiga. They will spook you if you see them crawling in the floor in the morning, but you can pick em up and toss em out side. But when you mess with them they let out a musty stink.

That's not totally true. Some are omnivorous and even carnivorous.

And in terms of combat, yes. The only thing some can do is release those secretions and some emit a hydrogen cyanide gas.
