p.s I don't know why you don't think this is holy, I mean it is saying "I'm not ashamed of the Gospel Lord Your power and Love save my soul now I'm alive in You." last time I checked the world wasn't singing those kinds of lyrics...
p.p.s You must be really really advanced in years if you are saying these kinds of comments...
@lenbenhear I go to pfa and yeah it is more of a youthful feel but I am pretty sure it's because a lot of the youth& young adults are serving in the church (which should make people happy that they are serving instead of doing other things like not even knowing Jesus). From my experiences worship is in spirit and in truth, there have been many intimate times of worship at this church! You can tell a tree by its fruit and pfa definitely bears good fruit :]
Just out of curiosity, what does everybody think about Hillsong and their worship style? This is one of their songs and yet they reach hundreds of thousands if not millions of people. To say that they are a backsliding church would be absolutely ignorant. I'm actually quite grateful that there are churches out there who play music that I can get excited about. Why should the world have all the good music?
Instead of judging from a youtube video, go experience it for yourself. :)
By the way there is nothing rock about this. Wow. They are playing acoustic guitars. And it is totally about God. The words are talking about God saving my soul. Why must we always try to put someone else down? Why can't we celebrate God our way and not worry how others choose to. Just relax and love God. Oh and God is holy without trying or working. Why do we have to work to get there. Just be holy.
This Church sees hundreds of salvations weekly. Revival has been happening for some time now. Be careful posting your comments lenbenhear. Judge Not Least Ye Be Judged. I believe God is the best Judge of what kind of music this church is playing, and God is Blessing PFA daily.
But separation from the world and carnal-worldliness IS ESSENTIAL to conversion: AND IT MUST BE PREACHED AND TAUGHT AS BIBLICAL TRUTH. compromises with the world (and music of the world) IS NOT FROM GOD.
WORSHIP THE LORD "in the beauty of holiness, ... fear before Him all the earth."
It's NOT "party-time with Jesus." IT'S: worship, brokeness, and MUSIC THAT IS WORTHY OF HIS HOLY NAME AND PRESENCE.
If anyone here wants to think or insist that "I am being judgmental" in these honest and VALID, biblical and Christian comments: then GOD will judge you for wrongfully judging and/or condemning me.
NOT ALL music is of GOD or honors GOD or is godly and honored by THE HOLY SPIRIT. ... it takes the discernment of THE HOLY SPIRIT to KNOW the difference, ... and to honor GOD TRULY by worship IN SPIRIT & IN TRUTH.
@lenbenhear Once again i ask you, what makes this unholy. Why do you insist that this is not true holy reverence. "Most Christian rock" is done so to give the best of what a person has back to God. Would you suggest that some one not give God their best. I do not believe that the world has anything original. Just borrowed. No one is immitating the world. By the way you don't have any authority to condemn anyone. I just wish you just stop trying to limit peoples relationship with God.
It pains my heart when my "elders" forget that God can move in ANY circumstance. God is our judge. Some people experience God in loud praise atmospheres and some in quiet serene settings. I pray that all of us honor God by honoring him no matter the style of music and worshipping him no matter the style as well. It is truly amazing when one can learn to experience God in ALL settings.
We were not created to have a "made to order" church...we are created to go and spread the Good News...Stop critizing churches and go and make disciples
So you are saying that God only works through the hymns of old? Many of those songs were pub songs with the words rewritten, and believe it or not Amazing Grace was banned from churches for a time for its radical idealism....not sure if you were up on that part of church history. Just make sure that you don't get stuck in the church of the past to the point that you won't allow God to reach this generation....they need Him too...and maybe it's time you were pushed out of your comfort zone?
this is so true.. my dad went from playing in bars and got saved and was confused when they played a song during the altar call that he knew from the bars.. it was a hymn for the church
1st Assembly I am so very sorry to see what I saw in your worship at the pastors school. What has happened to you? The rock noise, you couldn't even hear the words! The whole scene wasn't about the worship of God, not the God who is holy and wants worship in spirit & truth. That was another spirit, not God. I served with you there for 7 years, but you've changed. I'm grieved to see this. Please turn around and go back to 'the old path, wherein dwelleth rightiousness." Lynne, missionary
Mostly the noise is because it was recorded with my $90 camera, not anything with the quality it would take to make the lyrics clear. I agree with you, though, that it's gotten more youth oriented since I first went to Pastor's School is 1997. Perhaps they see a verdant mission field. It's difficult to get my "senior" pastor to go back for another pastor school.
I and my wife love Tommy Barnett, ... but sometimes the "youth-oriented, SEEKER-FRIENDLY" so-called "ministry of the Gospel" is NOT where THE HOLY SPIRIT shows up much at all. ... and without THE HOLY Spirit, THERE IS no ministry. ... it does't matter how "flashy" the performace looks.
Make sure that your words are Godly...I'm not saying that everything the church does is perfect, but remember that your job is not to judge...so pray and know that just because it is different doesn't mean it is bad...at one time your generation was considered to radical...but God still blessed it
Here's the REAL issue: What truly HONORS Christ and the anointing, ... and what DIShonors Him and grieves the Holy Spirit. ? ... I KNOW that I have the Holy Spirit baptism: I KNOW IT. - JESUS SAID, "have discernment, ... judge RIGHTEOUS judgment." We are NOT to be "like" the world; we are to BE SEPARATED and holy. NOT "holier than thou." HOLY. including holy worship and holy living. Much of the church today has forgotten that truth.
Amen! When looking for praise music all I get is this blasphemous music that is made in Lucifers image, not music that is made to glorify our Lord Jesus Christ! I used to be a part of the youth at this Church many years ago.
Yes. We need to return to "the old paths" - THE HIGH-WAY OF HOLINESS, ... not all this hyped-up, glitzy, WORLDLY religion that doesn't honor GOD from the get-go. Who was it who said: "the world is getting churchy, and the church is getting worldly." ? it's true: and it's NOT good.
@lenbenhear I'm sorry to say I strongly disagree with you...If you're trying to reach unsaved people "churchy" holier than thou music isn't going to cut it....The church must stay relevant without losing it's self..I think Phoenix is doing a fine job...I wish we had a church like it here.
@creolelady89 Please understand that I am NOT talking about "holier than thou" sacred hymns or "churchy music" ... tho GOD can CERTAINLY anoint and use THAT KIND of music and very much so.
Terry MacAlmon. Don Moen. HillSong. Keith Green, Jars of Clay, AND MANY OTHERS is not "churchy" music. BUT IT'S ANOINTED and truly HONORING to GOD. It's *not* a "matter of taste" . it's a matter OF DISCERNMENT of the spirit BEHIND the music & "displays" & showmanship.
@lenbenhear Perhaps I am not at that particular church enough to see what you see. Because what I'm seeing that you're trying to say is that if they preformed the exact same music with reverence to the spirit it would be different..which I might could understand if said is true
@happycow123 Well, happy, I've said enough on this issue: people NEED TO SEEK DISCERNMENT FROM THE HOLY SPIRIT for themselves. There is sacred & holy music UNTO THE LORD, ... and there is the profane & the worldly. ... a person has to have DISCERNMENT to know *the spirit* behind not only words/lyrics, ... but music as well. ... & there is DEFINITELY *a spirit* behind music: and it is either carnal, worldly, demonic, or "merely human" ... OR IT IS HOLY & OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. I KNOW the difference.

@drummr4JC For the record: I LOVE HILLSONG. I think most of their offerings are very anointed and a blessing.

"WORSHIP THE LORD in the beauty OF HOLINESS." (!) NOT with youthful loud noise or the music of the world.
end of story.
May GOD grant repentance to a VERY backslidden church that has departed from "the old paths of holiness unto the LORD."

@lenbenhear Where (if anywhere) does it say that this music is not holy.
sethicania 1 year ago
@sethicania BE YE HOLY FOR I AM HOLY, saith the LORD.
It does NOT say, "be as the world and IMMITATE the world's carnal and worldly music to approach Me in worship & prayer."
NOT ALL "christian rock" is carnal and worldly. BUT MOST OF IT IS.
and if you have not the HOLY SPIRIT to discern this: there is nothing I can do to change how you see OR *make you see* what I KNOW.
I do not condemn you. but the 'church' today has become VERY worldly and carnal. FACT.
