  • can you use teamspeak instead of skype???

  • @piathefish131 Shit I donno. As long as you can have a line in and line out I guess.

  • Alrighty Weekend andbefore and after school radio when i set it up!

  • Excellent Tutorial...Very informative....Thks for sharing the knowledge...

  • @LaVoixDeLAfrique Your welcome! Hope it helped.

  • Can you set this up on a laptop ?

  • @Littletayy95 also i only have a usb mic the blue yeti how do I set it up with this mixer ? thanks

  • @Littletayy95 Yes but a lot of the new laptops don't have a "line in" jack. They used to all have them but now they only have a mic jack. You can get a USB sound device for real cheap. Just remember to do live calls you need to have 2 line ins to make it work right.

  • How can this be setup on a iMac??

  • @madyank51 Sorry, I can't support Mac or any Apple products. I'm very much against the company in general. Good luck! ~J

  • @madyank51 If you need any support on setting this up on Mac OSX, Please message me

  • what kind of a mixer do i need for all this features?? What's the minimum inputs or channels that i' need?? Thanks from Greece for this video!!!

  • @ciric7 Basically your mixer just needs a "post fader" "aux send" on the channels so that you can send audio to the skype caller without them hearing themselves back. The amount of channels is up to you. For me I like to have at least 3 mic lines, a music channel (stereo), skype channel, and back ground sound channel (stereo). So for me I need at least 6. I'd go with an 8 channel just to be safe and have extra mic channels. Good luck! ~J

  • i have a problem i have a 4 channel pro sound mixer and i have split the music and skype onto different channels and i use the record output to go back into the pc my speakers are connected into the master but when a person is on skype they can hear themselves as everything is going back into skype i have my mic plugged into the mic 1 port on the mixer so how do i not get the person to hear themselves back through skype

  • @1234mattyman You need to be sending the audio to the skype caller using an "aux" channel.

    Good luck! ~J

  • my winamp will not connect to my server what do i do am i missing something?

  • @Carb0nMoxoxide Well it's kinda hard to tell from here but you may want to make sure which version of shoutcast you are using. Version 1 doesn't use ID and there's a little check box under the "output" section of the Nullsoft SHOUTcast Source in Winamp that you'd have to check. Other than that make sure all the output settings are all setup and you shouldn't have a prob.

    Good luck! ~J

  • @JVonD im using the ice cast server now shout cast kept timing out my connection but im still having a problem of finding my broadcasting link i tried google couldn't find anything i used my ip with the port then / live and didn't work then i tried using the server ip still nothing works

  • @Carb0nMoxoxide I don't use Icecast so I can't really help. I don't think you should use a space in the "/live" though.

    That's about all I got...

  • I've got static on my recordings . WHAT DO I DO ?

  • Awsome

  • Awesome video mate!

  • Buddy i have been trying soooooooo hard to get my station up. No matter what i do win amp wont read the soundcard just the mic. I went and bought a new sound card still no luck, added stereo mix no luck. im gonna go get a mixer right now. If i cant get it could you help me set it up

  • @BrianSStaveley You may be missing a step. Like in the Windows control panel you need to select which sound device you want Winamp to use. If your mic is your "default" then winamp will use that. If so then switch the default to your other sound device.

Winamp uses your default sound device that windows is set up to use. The other apps like skype you can switch the sound device in the app itself.

    Good luck! ~J

  • has anyone had issue with skype, it's the only part of the puzzle that I am not getting right... if you have that sorted out, please message me... thank you !

  • @fvenegas9ine Don't let it get to you. Just dedicate 1 sound card to Skype and 1 to the mixing board. Use the aux channel on the mixer to run sound to the skype caller so they don't hear themselves. In the Skype audio options choose the proper sound card and make sure the sound card is set to record the "line in".

    Good luck! ~J

  • @JVonD Thanks JVonD for the help & advice. I will try that out, and check all my settings soon as I get home.

  • @JVonD Thanks again for the help, I sorted it all out and have now got it working.

  • Whats the most reliable radio scheduler available at the moment for 24/7 streaming. Thanks

  • ok. great video but im a bit confuzed and i really would like to know how to do this. basically one of my questions is will i be able to talk to someone on skype while music is playing but mine and theirs voice is not going over the stream? and will it work with other programs like virtual dj? thanks

  • @NerdyIndustries Don't know about Virtual DJ. If you use a mixer like mine then all the audio will be going over the stream via the "main out" channel. You must be doing a different setup.

    Good luck! ~J

  • @JVonD alright. thanks. do u know of any way to do what you did PLUS being able to talk to this caller off the air so their voice and urs doesnt go "on the air"?

  • @NerdyIndustries You may want to look into a digital audio mixer (DAW) for advanced routing options. Analog mixers like the one I use on this video would not work for doing that.

  • @JVonD alright thanks for the help :) and im using a profx8 mixer wich has the fx send the anolog features and the usb feature

  • Thanks for the help.

  • My Bad, I caught it thanks again

  • Love the video JVonD! Just one question, not clear on where the aux send (fx send) is connected to. Where on the computer? Didn't catch that in the video. Thanks for your time

  • @thebearfanronshow the "aux send" go's to the computer input that takes the audio to the skype caller. In this situation it would be sound card 2's "line in". Good luck! ~J

  • how do I hook up that xtra sound card to the computer and what type of sound do I use

  • @howardbryan2002 Search youtube for sound card install for help, or get a usb device. You can run any type of analog sound into it.

    Good luck! ~J

  • thanks for all quick reply but i still have problem with this when i receive call or some call some on mobile it fluctuate all my system with mobile range so kinda bad idea using that cable i need something els so i can put my mobile far back and accept calls like Bluetooth or wireless thing any idea ?

  • hi im using Behringer Podcast Studio Firewire is that possible to receive mobile call with this on live radio please help regarding this thanks im using sam brodcaster.

  • @malhi2009 If it has a "main out" and an "aux or effects out" sure.

What kind of mixer is it that comes with it?

  • @JVonD hi here is the detail of the pack please look into im totally noob

    ■Xenyx 802 mixing desk■8 inputs■2 mic pre-amps■2 mono channels■2 stereo channels

  • @malhi2009 yes its fine

  • @JVonD what kind of cable do i need to connect my iphone4 with this podcast studio please help

  • @malhi2009 A stereo mini plug like the one listed in the description.

  • seriously, i have been googling for DAYS trying to figure out exactly this. i'm not an audio tech, sadly, but i THINK i'm finally grasping the mixer stuff. only thing that i'm confused with is the bit on skype. i know skype, and understand how you hooked it up and changing settings, but what if don't want to use skype for calls and just want to stream audio? obviously it's just buying another cord, so i'm going to follow this exactly, but if i don't need to....:)

  • @flitzanu You don't need an additional sound card if you are not taking live call ins. You don't even need a local computer to just stream audio using Sky Deck Streams. If you have a local computer then just get Winamp and the Shoutcast Source DSP and you can be streaming instantly.

    Good luck! ~J

  • @JVonD im sorry, i should have been more specific :) i'm actually doing audio/video through wirecast, and so far i've only had luck with Virtual Audio Cables and SAMe, which sucksssss and really degrades the audio mix. i went with the hardware mixer to try to keep better quality, a few of the hosts run theirs that way. but actually, the skype will be cool, i'll probably just leave it in. again, awesome vid, i think it may be just what i need!

  • cool video man... keep the good work

  • ok so if i wanted to do live broadcasting i would use shoutcase instead of winamps? i know how to set the things up im just saying if i had more question would u be able to help out. if not thats ok. the problem is that i have so called friends who have sites up but dont want to share the info on how to get it started.

  • @dxcofreq Shoutcast is just the type of streaming technology. You use winamp or other apps to broadcast the stream. I don't have time to tech support. But feel free to msg me and I can try and help.

Might want to hire some one. If your around Boulder, CO you can hire me to set your station up.

You can find out just about anything with an internet search if you have questions. You can get your stream on your website with flash, window media player, real player,,, etc.. Just embed the code.

  • @JVOND I AM A DJ WITH TURNTABLE AND ALL I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WITH ALL THIS INFO THAT U HAVE ON UR VIDEO WOULD I BE ABLE TO DJ LIVE AS WELL?

  • @dxcofreq Yeah any audio source that can be plugged into the mixer can be streamed. You could plug your DJ mixer into the computer and just use that but you do need an "aux" channel to run audio to a skype caller.

    Good luck! ~J

  • @JVonD TY for the reply.I still have a couple of questions. Is skype free? also through ur set up ,Can i use a camera so that my viewer can see me? if I have any problems with set up may I contact you for assistance? How would my viewer get to my site? Is there a site I have to built? I really appreciate ur help. DXCOFREQ

  • @dxcofreq I don't do tech support for ppl's hardware setups. I have in the past but it gets pretty ridiculous with newbies. I'd recommend getting a techy friend to watch the video and hook your stuff up for you. Skype is free unless you are taking calls from land lines, go to their site if you have questions. You can do video like I do but you'd need to get a relay server just like shoutcast. I do both shoutcast audio and MP4 video streaming for my shows with Sky Deck Streams. Good luck! ~J

  • Hi buddy! Very interesting tutorial, I was looking to experiment with live radio shows over the internet but everybody use Virtual Audio Cables, that has pretty much lag. I want to ask you a question, can I do this with a lower priced Behringer mixer? Which model would you recommend? Thanks in advance!

  • @nicozica I recommend using hardware like I do in the tutorial. In the video I am using a Behringer mixer. If you look in the description you'll find all the gear I use with links. Thanks! ~J

  • @JVonD Thanks a lot!

  • whtats up ? i would to know what to get to open my own online station can i get your email.

  • @IAMJWORLDTV You can send me an email or send me a message. jvondproductions@yahoo.com

  • @katsiv I'm not following the description. I wouldn't be micing up any speakers though. Just use one mixer and one or two computers. For doing just audio I would just use one. Even my crappy P4 Intel would run everything on this video no prob and have huge skype conferences. Good luck!

  • Thank you so mych for your help! I am looking forward to getting started!

  • @amyemme Your very welcome! Glad you enjoyed the vid. Good luck with the show... =)

  • I have a ? I am trying to get this up and running on a Dell Dimension E550 I just added a Diamond multimedia 5.1 pci sound card to get the other line in/out, but how do I get both sound cards to work at the same time, everything i've tried so far either one or the other works individually but not together? I'm pretty good with a computer but i'm no expert, am I missing something I tried to assign which sound card to its own function through skype but only one card will work at a time.

  • @mikevsop you should have options in the apps to select which sound card device you want that app to use.

For example in Skype go to "tools - options - audio settings" and select your sound device accordingly.

    Good luck! ~J

  • Thanks Jvon. Do you use facebook? Maybe I could add you and start talking to you through there about everything including sky deck streams

  • @swave08 Sure dude. facebook com/therealjvond

  • Hey man. Just wanted to let you know that i've ordered everything to set this up and it's on delivery. Should be getting underway shortly. I'll keep ya updated on how it turns out.

    -Corey

  • @swave08 Oh cool. Good luck Corey! Let me know if you need to test your stream with my relay server. Later! ~J

  • I listened OR4ISS International Space Station whit my radio station.

  • Thanks for the guide and responding to my email yesterday. I went ahead and got the mixer you have in this video. THANKS!!!

  • can you show us an actual live call in?

  • @alanbstard4 By doing a skype test call it is basically the exact same thing. Good luck! ~J

  • The main thing is that you get a mixer with an "aux channel" or "effects bus" which almost all mixers have. You want it to be "Post Fader" and not "Pre Fader". In the video I use a Behringer 1002B. I really like that mixer.

    behringer com/EN/Products/1002B.aspx

    Good luck! ~J

  • Nice guide, but need help

    Wich mixer are you using?

  • hi iloved it verey use full one as i wanted to workin the radio industry it help me very much but i dint get such jobs yet i planing to make my own station i need more info about it can u help me

  • @ani4tube "What the problem is?" (Martin Lawrence)

  • nice video just to clear afew things. I wish to stream 2 mics and then just the music. What would be the best way to stream the audio coming from the computer to listeners. Say I wanted to allow listeners to hear audio from a song I have on my computer. Is there some software you know of where I can have audio from my computer going straight to the live feed? thanks :)

  • @kingofkeyboards Any audio playing through the mixer is sent to the stream via the "main mix" out. If you want 2 mics then push those faders up. If you want music then push that fader up. Its a simple concept so just don't over think about it.

    Good luck! ~J

  • What mic should I use?

  • @GNews10 Don't matter. Anything that pics up your voice works for me. I use a Samson for this video.

  • I want to do talk radio and receive live call in, eventually I want to have video, does processor speed and ram have an effect as to how fast you stream? I dont want all that buffering thing to happen like I see other host go through.

  • @SWAMPER813 Nope that all comes down to bandwidth for the most part. Almost everyone who does internet radio will use a relay server like how I use Sky Deck Streams. I send one stream to the server that has a giant internet pipe and then the server will be able to handle the large bandwidth loads to relay my audio to listeners.

You could use your local ISP to stream although its not recommended unless you have a huge pipe. Shoutcast always has a 5 - 15 second buffer.

  • WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND FOR COMMPUTER HARDWARE, PROCESSOR, RAM AND SO FORTH TO OBTAIN BEST LIVE STREAM POSSIBILITIES.

  • @SWAMPER813 For doing basic audio streaming you don't need any crazy computer. I have a 10 year old laptop with a P4 that can easily handle all the tasks. If you do live video its a whole nother story.

  • this may seem like a pointless comment but i have that exact keyboard lying 5 feet from me on the floor.

  • @ccci6i COOL!

  • Whats up man? I was just wondering if you know if there is a specific law on what curse words can't be said over an FM radio station & how those rules work. I want to start my own radio station on FM radio & play real rap music instead of this pop rap & pop R&B that you hear on the radio now days. I want to play all my music with no censoring if possible. I understand the FCC looks over this & I was wondering if you know if there are specific laws towards cursing on FM radio stations?

  • @GorillaKingdomFN I think there are like 8 words the FCC looks for on Public FM Radio Broadcasts and TV. I don't think FCC can limit free speech on Pirate Radio which is mainly FM broadcasts that do not contain commercials. There is free speech on Internet Radio BUT I think its against the law to play music you do not have the rights to and make money from it which leads me to believe that the majority of internet radio breaks the law. The "Podsafe Music Network" has music that is free to use.

  • SO WHAT WOULD YOU RECOMMEND FOR DOING A INTERNET TALK SHOW BLOGTALKRADIO 365....ETC!

  • @MADWEZL Sky Deck Streams

  • cool thanx i will get it lol i may need your help to setup is that ok . this is so new to me . i am a record producer no very little about this stuff but i need to learn it . what is your station name

  • @urban7089 My station name is "JVonD Productions". Let me know when you get rolling and I'll take a listen.

  • great info thats what i want to do play music and have shows and stuff . i just signed up with shoutcast is that what your using

  • @urban7089 Yes. I love shoutcast. I use Sky Deck Streams to host my stream relay because they offer a unique playlist technology that keeps your stream online 24/7 even if you get disconnected. I highly recommend it.

    Have fun! ~J

  • WOW....GOOD INFO! WELL LAST QUESTION IS THERE A CERTAIN TYPE OF SOUND CARD TO INSTALL & WHERE CAN I GET A SOUND CARD FROM!

  • @MADWEZL I updated the info on this video with all the added hardware for setting up your computer. Just click the links and order it if you like. That's what I've been using for years. Good luck!

  • OK! HOW ABOUT DOING A GUESS CALL IN....LIKE I CALL YOU OR VISE VERSA AND I WANTED THE LISTNERS TO ASK YOU QUESTIONS YOU QUESTIONS LIKE YOUR ACTUALLY IN THE STUDIO? CAN THAT BE SET UP?

  • @MADWEZL It's exactly what I did on the video by doing a "Skype Test Call". Once you set that up then you can have them call your skype number and it will work the same as the test call.

  • WHAT IF YOU WANT TO HAVE AN IN STUDIO GUEST....WOULD YOU HAVE TO HAVE ANOTHER SOUND CARD OR CAN YOU HOOK UP ANOTHER MIC INTO THE MIX BOARD?

  • @MADWEZL Yeah man. Just plug in another mic and set up the guest with headphones. I just use an adapter to split the headphone signal.

  • What are the names of those cables? And has a laptop good enough for this stuff?

  • @TVMikepro2 1/4"(stereo RCA) - 1/8" mini plug stereo. The other plug is just an adapter RCA Y-cable.

Laptops work fine you just need 2 "line in" inputs (NOT MIC). I used a "USB Input/Output with LINE-IN Sound Card for Windows" USB sound card for my laptop. Just search for that name and it should come up.

Most new laptops only come with a "mic" input. Those don't work good but you can still use it, it will just sound like crap for callers.

  • I have a Berhinger 1622 FX it should not be to hard to get this to work i hooked it up last night after vewing you vid and i have it working on main mix now i just need it to work like you have on your show where i can take music down and back up if i wanted to

  • @GPRRadio Well the music is just on a dedicated channel from a sound card that has it's "line out" dedicated to the music. When you have 2 sound cards just have all your sound apps use 1 main card and just have the music app (winamp) dedicated to the other one. Then just use the mixer fader to bring it in and out.

    Hope it helps!

  • @JVonD The only thing is i am not useing winamp i am useing Sam Broadcaster is there away to do this with Sam ?

  • @GPRRadio Not sure. You should be able to select an output device for all apps but I never used it. Check out your SAM preferences under devices maybe?

You can still broadcast through SAM but use a different media player for playing tunes.

  • I am just wondering if there is away to talk to you and you help me set this up i have a behinger mixer boradrd like you just alittle bit differant then yours

  • @GPRRadio Sure, I have a skype - jvondradio

or in Second Life - JVonD Television

I'll log on to skype in a couple hours.

What kind of mixer you have?

  • Jvon is there away to get ahole of you for alittle help with this I need your help please

  • Jvon is there away to get ahole of you for alittle help with this

  • Thanks for giving me reply. if i want creat own radio so what think i nedd to do instal radio..

  • @bassivarun Not to sure what your asking. If you need to test your stream I can help with one of my streaming servers. Everything else should be on the video.

  • @bassivarun Hey Bassivarun. All you need is a computer to do a basic internet radio station. Then just pic a streaming server to relay it.

I personally like taking live call ins so I use a "computer" - "mixer" - "2 sound cards" - "mic" - "cables". Thats it!

  • You are the greate.. i also want create my own internet and i need your help will help me..

  • @bassivarun Thanks. Hope you have a great show. Just let me know if you need help or want to test your setup on my streaming servers.

    Have a good day! ~J

  • JVonD....Boss whats your location?

  • @djSpaxvybz Boulder, CO

  • hay dude I always want to have my own talk show on line but dont have a lot to spend on a mixer do you thing I would get away with a mixer like Ibiza Sound DJ21USB 3 Channel Compact DJ Mixer USB MP3Ibiza Sound DJ21USB 3 Channel Compact DJ Mixer USB MP3 do so use or do you have 1 that you would think would be best to start off with ???

  • @patrickloughlin That mixer will work but you won't be able to take live call ins like I do. I'd suggest looking at regular mixers and not "DJ" mixers. There will be a lot more to choose from at much lower prices. As long as it has an "Aux Out" you should be good for call ins.

  • DUDE......YOUR THE MAN!!!!!!! JVOND....SURFER DAVE FROM CALIF..FROM THE HAUNTED GRANADA THEATER!! AM TRYIN TO SET UP A RADIO STATION,THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!!! I'LL BE TALK'IN TO YEA...

  • @GHOSTSOFGRANADA Thanks a bunch! Glad you enjoyed the vid. Let me know if you have any questions. Have a good day! ~J

  • amazing dude

  • good help !!!!

  • Amazing boss.....

  • @djSpaxvybz Thanks! Hope it helped...

  • Hi JVOND, I did this setup except with one soundcard(for now im not using skype) I have all the correct cables but for some reason what I hear on my mixer's headphones doesn't reflect whats being recorded or streamed. so I set the levels from all my inputs which is mic and computer. but when played back nothing sounds like it should. mic is to low ect. what can be wrong?

    Thanks!

  • @jbksfinest Your "main mix output" cables should be going into your "Line In" on your sound card. Then what ever you hear in your headphones coming out of your "headphone jack" on your mixer should be recording. If it doesn't then you may want to trouble shout by figuring out which jack is giving you a bad signal. Not to sure what else to tell you.. Good luck! ~J

  • Nice! How do you hook up mulitple headphones for the guests?

    Thanks

  • @richbee53 I just use Y-adapters coming out of the mixer or do the same thing with a headphone amp. Have a good day1 ~J

  • excellent bro!

  • @DjSupaStar48 Thanks! I tried to make it the least confusing as I could. =)

  • well jvond every thing is up and running thanks to you.... good job and keep posting how to's

  • @TheCritter31 Great! Stoked I could help you get it setup. Give me a shout when you do a live show.

  • hey jvond i have every thing conneteted and every thing is working good but i have very little volume on my head phones.... now my skype is at normal valume but the music i can bearly hear threw my head phones y is that

  • @TheCritter31 Your headphones should be plugged right into your mixer through the "headphone jack" which has it's own volume. The same audio that your "main out" is taking to your computer should be heard in your headphones that way. Have a good day! ~J

  • here is a question

how would you hook a phone up to the mixer? to take phone callers

  • @TheCritter31 You could buy an adapter or use skype like I do. Some ppl even just use a speaker phone with a microphone on it.

  • i got it Jvond

  • i have an additional sound card the audigy soundblaster zs2 plus the on board sound card and i have 4 line outs on it and 1 line in on the card and i hav followed all your instructions but i still cant get sam to recognize voice ajd i cant hear on my stream .... kinda getting fusterating ........ oh and im also on sl just fyi

  • hey jvond i have the alesis multimix 8 usb... i also have sam broadcaster

and iam a little confused on how to hook things up ... i have music running threw the board .. buty i cant get sam to recognize my mic .. my OS is windows xp

is there any thing i need to check in the audio settings ??

  • @TheCritter31 I'd recommend NOT using the USB part of the mixer and getting an additional cheap'o sound card. If it's a laptop you can get a USB sound card. By just using your Multimixit as a mixer you should have no probs. When you have 2 "line ins" and 2 "line outs" then you should have no probs. All the sound connections plug into the mixer so that you won't have your mic connected to your PC separately. Hope it helps. Shoot me an email if you have more issues.

  • JVonD, This video rocks.

  • Glad you like it. Hope it helps.

    Have a great day! ~J

  • @JVonD Very helpful, but I'm very confuse on how to set up the head phones? How can I set it up so that I can hear everything thats going on? Thanks!

  • Just plug the headphones into the headphone jack on your mixer for the main sound that the listeners will hear.. I use Y-adapters to setup multiple headphones for all my in studio guests. You can also buy in-line volume adjusters or a headphone amp/mixer. Good luck!

  • Thanks a bunch!

  • Good luck man

  • @ireeduizul Thanks! I'll need it...

  • cool vid
