I loved the game. I really did. But in normal NHL games they play the National Anthems of the teams that play. There was no Can team playing so why play the Cn anthem ? Just seems silly
You are so freaking stupid. What a stupid comment from a stupid little person. They only play the American anthem at regular games. Once again your stupid
The NHL is based in Canada. So when a league-wide event like this is done, they play both anthems. Too bad they couldn't get Wayne Messmer to sing both of them... he used to when the Expos would come to Wrigley. I made it a point to watch those pregame shows on WGN.
@THEUPSMAN88 What kind of question is that? Are you that stupid???? Obiviously both teams have players from both countries .. It's a winter classic, they sing both Anthems out of respect. And Chicago is from Illinois and Detroit is from Michigan if you didn't know. And if you really didn't because of your question.. You need help!
Chill man. I know my geography. I was responding to FIFApeppers comment. I know why they sing the anthems but if you read what I was responding to you would see what I was trying to say.
Oh, for Christ's sake, what's the big deal? So they played two anthems at an outdoor hockey game. Big fucking deal, and if anyone's the kid, it's you.
@VANDRO81 They play the Canadian anthem because 90% of the players down there are Canadians, also to honour the great outdoors where the game was born on the frozen lakes and ponds of Canada, add the fact that more Canadians watch the winter classic than Americans.
It was nicely done, but considering that this was at wrigley field and this is not a blackhawks facility of any sorts, I thought that Wayne Messmer should have been brought back and sung. He's the PA and sings the national anthem for the cubs. This was a blackhawks home game at the cubs facility and because of that Wayne should have been there and sung. If he had then it really could have been something special for one day and felt what it use to be for the blackhawks at the old chicago stadium.
they sang both because it isnt just a game for det and chicago fans its supposed to bring in all fans to watch on that matter GO DUCKS
