Yea windows 7 uses memory more efficiently so everything should run better.
Its a pity that the autogen is hard coded to load within a certain range so even if you have a very fast PC you cant stop it popping up. I bet MS could have made it tweakable but didnt want people sticking to 1 simulator and not buying there next release.
@flowmp Thanks for commenting. I like to change my sliders quite a bit. Since I added Ultimate Terrain X Im able to max the sliders out with pretty decent frames but the popping autogen is still a problem for me as without any autogen you have no popping buildings. But its fun to change the sliders around im always changing them.
I recently had some autogen spikes where there were triangles popping up on the screen, however, when I turned off the autogen, I was able to get rid of that. Also got some more FPS as well.
Just wanted to give an update. I just built a new Sandy Bridge, Core i7 2600K, and with your comment about the terrain spikes, I don't think I saw any of those, and I was running it on extremely dense.
@magnetite2 I was talking to a person who said FSX should run better on Windows 7 than vista. Do you agree? I have vista 64 currently so it would be good to know.
I run with Windows 7, and I heard it runs better with it. Especially 64-bit since it can take advantage of the extra RAM. Although FSX is a 32-bit program though.
When I turn up the autogen on dense or higher, I hear this crackling sound from my headphones. Don't think my system is fast enough to handle it, but I just put together a Sandy Bridge system today so that should help. I also run a bunch of payware addons, that probably adds to it.
dude when are you going to get your commercial airline pilot license...reminds of the movie, "Catch Me If You Can" just walk into American Airlines and start talkin' all that pilot lingo...catch a ride to Paris, why the hell not? just make sure you have the BAIL MONEY ready before you get arrested for it all haha
