Our Junior Kindergarten teacher played many war era songs on her piano for us at school. Us kids who grew up in the 70's knew nothing about the world wars that ended twenty-five years before. We had no idea where they originated from, but they are most precious to us because of the happy memories associated with our early(-est) school years and one of the best songs is this one. We called it the "Valerie-Valerah" song...I didn't know it's name until I came across your site! Thanks so much! >:o)
Louis Prima is able to save an otherwise horrible song that i have hated from the very beginning. Born in 1950, this song has been hanging out there my entire life. Go view the Fred Waring version to see why the routine performance is so objectionable. But here, with Prima and his ironic version, and trumpet like singing voice ...well, I think I listen again.
Thanks to ItaliaSalbion - Haven't heard this version - My mother-in-law had this for her funeral (yes she chose the songs while still with us) a wonderful woman - I love Loius Prima but haden't heard this - so thanks once again.
@Verlch The bass turds and sheet for brains brought us down to a level heretofore never seen. We shall overcome this minor setback...Free Willy, for Chrisakes!!

Louis Prima always sounded like he was gasping for air
from too many cigarettes or something.
Maybe Keely Smith kept him breathless!

@bonniesometimes This was just as the "Military-Industrial Complex" Ike was warning America about
was starting out. NOW the suckers have HIJACKED the entire United States, closed almost all our
stateside factories and STOLEN our pension funds and savings from the banks.
ITS TIME TO CLEAN HOUSE BIG TIME IN D.C. and NYC, (Wall Street & Federal Reserve).
Its ALSO time to OPEN America's VAST OIL RESOURCES called the Bakkens & Stanbury Fields-
PROVEN OVER 2 TRILLION BARRELS OF LITE SWEET CRUDE!

I miss those days,
the feeling of real optimism for the future people had back then is sorely missing from most of the world now,
is it really a case of innocence lost...
or was it taken from us ?
Btw,
i done a wee bit of research on basketball Italia,
and by all accounts the big number 99 knew where the basket was.
;D

They look like a bunch of meat-heads to me, but they had a bond of brotherhood that we forsake for junk.
