  • 8:09 Eldorado!

  • Haha, I remember watching this when I was a kid. It fucking scared the shit out of me lol. But i watched it over and over. i keep seeing the previews on tv for new disney movies. What's with all this computer drawn crap? Disney needs to bring back the hand drawn good stuff. And they need intense movies that scare kids like this. The Hunchback of Notre Dame is another great disney movie from my childhood that is pretty intense for young kids. What happened Disney? Get your balls back!

  • the dead dying

  • 2:55 reminds me of fucking LOR

  • One big explosion and the whole castle collapses. *snap* just like that.

  • 6:56 this looks like 2012!!

  • I thought I heard a cell phone ring at 0:10 XD

  • @crazedanimefan101 That happens to me when I watch Oliver and Company, after they rescue Jenny and they slide down to where Fagin gets them...

  • No Gurgie!! dont jump! together we can find a cure!!

  • Creeper: It needs another body, sire.

    The Horned King: Yes. YOURS!

    Lol!

  • I would love to see the Nostalgia Critic review this movie!

  • 3:43-4:10

Oh, shit. The Horned King is mad.

    4:47-5:07

HOLY SHIIIT!! NOW he's pissed off!!!!

    5:57-6:30

And there's when the movie ends for me.

    R.I.P The Horned King

  • 0:00-1:19

used to scare me to death when i was little, but not anymore. Now i think it's AWESOMELY EPIC!! I beg to differ your choice of words Eilonwy(sp?), it's NOT horrible, it's the complete opposite

  • I had a feeling Eilonwy wasn't an actual princess...

I just didn't guess she was a Scullery maid!

ESPECIALLY with how snobby she was at the beginning!!!

  • @MissKerenR ..........why the hell would she lie?

  • @BlackRose2354 Probably because she wanted to be pampered or something, or even to just impress Taran.

  • @MissKerenR

If you read the books, you'll see that she is actually a princess. The scullery maid thing is just an insult made by the Horned King. Besides, if she wasn't, the Disney movie would have directly pointed that out. Though that would actually be a cool idea of her pretending to be someone she is not, like Taran pretending to be a warrior in the beginning.

  • i just dont understand what the horned king has going for him he is all old and slow e doesnt seem to have any magic he just gets other people to do shit for him but why would they cuz they could just kill him or something and take his money and leave

  • @atgod6 isn't that most of the real villians (dictators) in real life? fedel castro. hitler, etc. they all have people to do shit for them, but if an entire army or population goes against them..... they could win....

    it's called having useful idiots.

  • Does gurgi remind anyone elso of Dobby? Not his apperance but his speach and actions.

Why must the cute things always die!!!!!!

  • When I first saw this when I was little, I didn't think much on Grugi's death. I found it sad and was like "oh my god! Why do my favorites die??"

  • Gurgi!!! NOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The part where the horned king gets sucked into the cauldron is very graphic and grotesque. But freakin epic! One of the best villain deaths i've ever seen! Lol! Thumbs up if you agree!

  • @JackSkellington36 i totally agree, but to admit one thing now that i'm older:

i actually cry a bit when that scene comes up, 'cause The Horned King is just too BADASS-AWESOME to die. I mean, he's pure evil through-and-through + the fact that Mr. Ollivander himself voices him just makes him even more awesome. He'd totally kick the asses of todays so called ''Disney-villains'' on their screwed up ''funny'' shows, both in appearance and awesomeness

  • anyone notice mordor in the background once the camera started to move? lol

  • 6:50 Time Bomb Set Get Out Fast! (Metroid)

  • has it come to anyone that in most Disney movies, the villain usually dies brutally?

  • Statistics say that this video is popular with males of ages of 45-54. Well,I'm a male and I'm 15! So ha!

  • Ladies and gentlemen, no, you have no hallucinations. It's a lich and his skeleton army. And yes, it's a Disney movie.

  • @Phea7 I love watching it! I'm a big fan of medieval fantasy lore of liches, undead, paladins (this includes WoW)...

  • @IceBaine I'm fantasy fan too. I just think it's funny that Disney did something like that :D

  • Lol I wish I was still a toad!

  • You've got to wonder, did this come out of Disney's imagination, or is it another fairy-tale they turned into a movie very different from the actual fairy-tale. Thumbs up/like if you agree with me.

  • @kaygirl2016: It's based on Chronicles of Prydain, another series of fantasy novels written by Lloyd Alexander(aka not Disney's own creation, but rather, borrowed and made into their own version of the actual novels) ^^. It is indeed different from the chronicles, take the Horned King for example: In the book, he's a human, very muscular, has an antlered skullhelmet, similar to the Horned King in Disney's version, but has an armor, unlike the one in Disney's version.

  • like if gurgi was your favorite and you cried when he jumped

  • @901Cathy: I didn't cry, but I became sad :(.

  • 2:00 I basically crapped my pants right there.

  • @YouShouldTryMeInBed who didn't?

i used to do that when i was little, i still do it even 'til this day. Kinda embarrassing(sp?), but that shows that old-school beautiful Disney still can scare the pants of you even when you're older

  • I remember seeing this when I was about two years old, and I think I might have just screamed and ran away at this part of the movie

  • the horn kings mother must have bled after he was born... Like, I mean hemorrhaging

  • The Horned King is normally so restrained, you know you're in trouble when he's actually getting angry and showing his eyes...

  • @m3rrys0ngstr3ss Amen to that! I'd shit myself if i'd accidentaly made him sooo pissed of that his eyes turned red.

  • 4:53 : "Maybe they're only resting, Sire!" Monty Python FTW!!

  • @drumlinedreamer There's a whole series of books, where the Black Cauldron is the second, by Lloyd Alexander. This movie is based on the first book, called the Book of Three. Favorites from my childhood.

  • Comment removed

  • I have a book I found thats based roughly 10 years I'd say after the Black Cauldron. Its utterly fantastic.

  • @TheWhoaDude really? what's it called?

  • @drumlinedreamer The High King I think I may have the timeline wrong though.

  • @drumlinedreamer The Chronicles of Prydain is the name of the whole series.

  • I LOVE his robe. I wonder where he bought it.

  • 6:14 now THERE'S some family friendly Disney entertainment!

  • @MajickDemoniack: Ofc, what wouldn't a moment before the tv with family, watching a badguy getting crumbled and crushed, stripped to pieces by a magical black cauldron of darkness, to then have the remains being devoured and some pieces flying in all directions ;D?

  • @Khornedevotee Yep lol =:D

  • What is that little green monster with the purple hat on him?

  • @thebigall21 Creeper. He's a Goblin :D

  • "Thank goodness you're safe."

Yup, whie a castle crumbles around you.

    Totally safe.

  • Did the Cauldron Born EAT the men they pounced on!?

  • The Horned King:"GET UP, YOU FOOLS!" (eyes turn red) "KILL!"

Creepiest thing I've ever seen in a disney movie! He used to give me nightmares!

  • The Horned King scared the crap out of me when I was little. But he has to be one of my favorite disney villains along with jafar from aladdin and oogie boogie from nightmare before christmas. Those evil red eyes are enough to send a shiver down your spine. Talk about creepy! But awesome!

  • @JackSkellington36: Would have been scarier if they removed the pupils ;). It's always more demonic and generaly more evil-looking having no pupils and just glowing white, yellow, green, red, orange, black, grey, purple, pink, teal, turqouise, brown, magenta, whatever, eyes ;D. That's ofc my opinion, don't know about you ^^. The Horned King was diabolic and dark enough though to feel demonic hehe ;). He's one of my favorite Disney villains and villain all in all ^^.

  • @Khornedevotee No, you're absolutely right! It would've looked scarier without pupils. Pupils made it look more awesome. Lol!

  • @JackSkellington36: Jafar is my no. 1 favorite though ^^. Then probably comes Chernabol(Satan, or more refered to as the Devil) from Fantasia, or the Horned King ;D.

  • @JackSkellington36: I have many more favorite Disney villains though(and many more all-in-all villains :O) ^^.

  • gurgi died!!!

oh no he didnt i can see him in the thumbnail for part 8 lmdo

  • When disney was actually good

  • 8:21 looks like the atomic explosion over Hiroshima.

  • This is a disney movie!?

  • I wish I'd stayed a toad...

  • Gurgie commits suicide...what does this teach our children? That true love will sacrifice everything and anything, even life. THAT'S what Gurgie's sacrifice means.

  • WTF?? Gurgie dies!!! Why is it that all my favorite characters die?

  • Huh. That's depressing. "Gurgi has no friends, so I might as well be the one to die."

  • Maybe they're only resting sir XDD

  • "Come, sir. We can get a better view from above."

  • That hairy dog looking thing scared the shit ouuta me when i was little .

  • @MrCodyhoskins the point with gurgi was he overcame his fear because he knew no1 else wud jump in to the cauldron so effectively saved everyone. which was honorable and noble but i don't think you understand that. without the 2 kids the film wouldn't even happen lol.

  • Yay! More alien synths!

  • I just noticed that when i was a kid i saw a lot of Evil Castle's Blow Up.

  • I wish i stayed a toad XD

  • the horned king was defeated by a light kick that threw him off balance?

  • i thought the rats were sea lions.

  • Moral of the story? If you think you have no friends, like Gurgi, kill yourself because the world will be better without you. Jesus, Disney! XD

  • @TheMooseOfMayhem: Naaaah. You're looking at it the wrong way. If Gurgi wouldn't have jumped, Tarand would. Gurgi wanted Taran and his friends to live. Gurgi had nothing to live for(according to Gurgi atleast), so, Gurgi saccrificed himself for the world. It wasn't just bc Gurgi had no friends that he jumped, it was bc he had so much less to live for than Taran. Taran had many friends and Gurgi wanted Taran to hold on to that, but Gurgi didn't felt a part of that. He saccrificed himself.

  • @TheMooseOfMayhem: Taran would*

  • @TheMooseOfMayhem: Gurgi didn't feel part of that* Besides, since you wrote that which you did, I guess you have something to hold on to, like, your friends and/or family. Maybe you just think of yourself important enough to keep living on or maybe you just don't care about the matter. But anyway, you missed the message, and I have done my best to bring clarity to your ignorance :P. Cheers and God bless you. PERIOD!

  • The old man didn't even offer to go into the cauldron once!

  • i really got a dejavu when i saw gurgi jumpin' into the pauldron... just like gollem jumpin into mount doom

  • Horned King's death = Disturbingly graphic for a disney film O_O'

  • @N3RDYG0GGLES You didn't see Ursula die, did you?

  • @SangaxOfxThexThunder Oh I did, but that comes second to this O_O

  • @N3RDYG0GGLES you seriously find being impaled, electrocuted, and exploding into tiny chunks of flesh (which appeared on the screen) less gory than turning into a skeleton and getting sucked in a cauldron?

  • @SangaxOfxThexThunder Somehow, yes :/

    I watch SAW.

  • Anyone else think Gurgi looks like a monkey-like Geppetto?

  • @destaniofhearts hahahah YES !

  • Is Disney promoting suicide?

  • id rape gurdi

  • I wanted to be Gurdi's friend :)

  • hard cut at 0:45. You can tell by the sudden stop of the music since the composer didn't have enough time to consider this kind of censorship. They were too afraid to show the dissolving soldier.

  • best fucking villain death scene ever.

  • Damn what I don't get is how the horned king has skin and stuff on his arms but his face is all skully. He's half dead as it is! Maybe they should hire him out for Halloween Haunt at Wonderland.

  • @DisneyLover022 They have a Black Cauldron themed attraction at Tokyo Disneyland with the Horned King and rather unconvincing undead.

  • Poor Gurgi:(

  • I'm starting to wonder why they choose to have Gurgi sacrifice himself, because up until that moment he's been so afraid of all his surroundings that it seemed really sudden that he would just all of a sudden jump in. That's one of the weaknesses of this film is that it underdevelops characters just before they are about to do anything of value. Eilonwy and Flewdurr do nothing of value either that they seemed pointless to the whole film.

  • the first time me and my friends watch this when i was like 7 ( it wasnt that long ago ) we FREAKED OUT we cryed the rest of the movie

  • this is one of the darkest disney movies ive seen! i mean he gurgi dies without even being told that he has friends!!

  • gurdi was like dobby to me, </3

  • i love Gurgi he is sssssooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cute

  • MOST. BADASS. VILLAIN DEATH. EVER.

  • so what's the sense moral of the clip? If you don't have any friends it is better to kill youself, or at least sacrifice yourself for others as your own life has less value anyway. Lesson learned kids!

  • @MsSencer The lesson (i think) Was that KILLING the Horned King and his army was worth more then his life.. Something like the world would be much better off without him then with a horrible destruction of the army and that king ruling over everyone... The moral was (some what) like that >w<'' Correct me if i'm wrong, someone.

  • @MsSencer The moral was, protect your loved ones. Even if it costs you your life

  • This is more like Disney's horror movie. HAHA! The Horned King is freaky as heck. I wonder, what happened to him? he went to hell? Can please someone explain? I haven't seen this movie since i was like...five years old. Haha! :-)

  • @Joker7492 He died.

  • One ring to rule them all can only be destroyed at Mount Doom. Just look at the EXACT same scene here.

  • 8:32 boom?

  • This is probably one of Disney's darkest cartoon, no songs, no sunshine

  • @tanguman2 I actually kind of like it better that way, strangely enough. And it's not dark, it's just dark for a Disney Cartoon xD

  • @tanguman2 Your right, if only the voice acting wasn't so lifeless, or the characters were the least bit interesting, or the dialogue was less of a bore, this could be a Disney Classic

  • @TheMusicMan1012: Lifeless? Define lifeless? I mean, that green goblin for example, was voiced as an insane lunatic servant, fearful of his lord or ''Master'' as he refered him to, to the Horned King accordingly, the Horned King himself, voiced by John Hurt no less, had a dark, rasping unsettling voice, Gorgi had cute voice and was in his personality, and the Princess was voiced as a cute polite girl:P.How could it have been better? This movie is very underrated and after seeing it,I love it. ^^

  • @Khornedevotee While I will admit yes creeper and the horned king are well played characters, it's Taran and the princess that ruin this movie for me, Taran is so annoying and so stupid in what he says and does, the princess I like better than Taran, but she's not interesting enough to save the movie, plus her voice actor can't make the simple act of laughing seem natural or believable, but that's just my opinion, oh and Gurgi, he almost made this movie if he wasn't so underplayed

  • GURDI!! NO!!

    T_T

Plan to make Gurdi jump into the Cauldron instead of one of us.... big success.

  • 6:15-6:30 "You know! For kids!"

  • @MrTristy22 but...he's already dead. Kids see it like a zombie or something that dies again. I guess haha! Although, I must admit, that part creeped me out every time I saw it. I think all the movie creeped me out haha!. it's freaky.

  • 1:01 apart from Voldemort to protect his Horcrux

  • 4:06 - Yep, it was the hand kissing that did it.

  • 1:47 - Only because this is a Disney movie does he put up with that.

  • This was one of only two disney movies that gave me nightmares

the other was the Secret of Nym

  • @5Mariner Secret of NIMH isn't from Disney. :/ It was distributed from MGM Entertainment and it's a Don Bluth/Aurora Studios production. It's a great movie but lots of people think all animated movies is from Disney...their not. ^^

  • ... How in the hell is this a Disney movie? And why the hell aren't they ALL like this?! The Horned King is the most badass disney villain ever!

  • 6:20: He even died more metal than any other Disney villain.

  • @revseth Dude yeah, the Horned King's death is epic. So is Dr Faciliers from Princess and the Frog, he gets dragged into hell :P

  • @ 1:45

    High five? xD

  • this is a lot like lord of the rings! lol gurgi vs. golum in this scene is so great

  • I miss the old disney films :(

  • Poor Gurgi!

  • 3:53 "They're dying!" Lol they're already dead!!

  • eeeeYIKES!!!! lol

  • someone on here once said that the sword is the real hero here, but nnow we see that that is NOT TRUE!!! Gurgi an dTaran are the true heroes here

  • Great job there Horned King, bravo!

You left the 3 main characters in the same room as the power source for ALL of your armies; without ANY guards or supervision. Well done, I'm sure they'll never be able to stop you like that...

He's awesome, but c'mon! Every villain seems to fail at remembering to leave troops behind to guard the base! Saruman, Sauron, the Horned King; the list goes on! None of them were smart enough to STATION TROOPS AT THE BASE/POWER SOURCE.

  • 8:47 I never saw this part on Toon Disney,

  • 6:30 I'm glad creeper's still around.

  • the Horned King's "deathless" army was stopped before the front lines even got across the moat

  • *SCREAMS* OH MY GOD GURGI NOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • "No one has ever created a army like this"

Actually I seen 6 movies that have ^.^

  • Where is the boy's grandfather or whoever that old man was during all of this

  • .....so she isn't a princess

  • Holy HELL I forgot how freaking scary the Horned King can get! O.O

  • @LittleMsJ69

His name is Fflwddur Fflam, it's a Welsh name :) the story is based on Welsh folklore.

  • Gulum- Frodo in reverse moment

  • his name is fluter and he play a harp??

  • How exactly did the Horned King actually die? What happens at the part the cauldron drags him towards it? I've never gotten why...

  • @Ken220280

Well, technically he's a Lich, so if he remembered to cover his back with all the right backup spells, his soul should be able to escape his body and find someone else's to possess. Lichs are immortal, after all.

He'd have to be a really low level Lich to NOT cover himself with the soul escape spell.

  • @ALIENxenomorph100 But why does he get dragged towards the cauldron in the first place? Am I just being a complete idiot here because it looks like everyone else gets it except me... Please help... I am plagued by that which I do not know... :(

  • @Ken220280

I have no idea. It never said the cauldron would explode like a nuclear bomb when a good soul climbs into it, in the manual, in the first place. It just blew up for no reason. Same way as it sucked everything up for no reason either.

It's a silly cauldron, and he's a silly Lich for not using magic to escape from mere wind. I think he was forced to do it because it was in the script. :P

  • @ALIENxenomorph100 So there's no reason behind it? It just kind of happens? The fact it had no reasoning was the reason that I loved the film righ tup until that point... Oh, well...

  • @Ken220280

Perhaps it was sucking up all the dark magic that the Horned King released from it when he made the skeletons come to life. You could see all the green stuff leaking out of it and into the skeletons. I imagine when the good soul (Gurgi) freely jumped into the Cauldron, it removed its evil powers. So that could be why.

It sucked up all the evil and destroyed/blew it up, causing the explosion.

  • @ALIENxenomorph100 I doubt that Disney considered him to be a Lich or to have a phylactery or to in any way be "insured" in the sense of a Dungeons and Dragons type Lich.

  • @Nonamearisto

Then how would you explain him to be practically a walking corpse? Most descriptions of him (On wiki's and such) mention that he is a Lich. I'm pretty sure in the original books, they call him a Lich.

  • When the Horned King's eyes go red, it looks as if he's competing with Coachman (out of Pinocchio) for scariest Disney Villain expression!

  • 'Taran has many friends..... Gurgi has no friends.'

    So sad......

  • @Duckyworth1 And yet just before that, he said he woulnt let his friend die. Contradictory, eh?

  • I'm... I'm s-s-s-so-o-o scared. sooooo scared.

  • i'm scared now...and i'm 16

  • @Airalliale Fay YES. THEY SHOULD

  • That whole sequence from 6:12 - 8:40 was mind-blowing :O
