  • Phyllis Hyman has a beautiful voice and very powerful for real Women who are looking for real Men to now take a stand and realize Women are very true and Men need to listen to our hearts. Phyllis speaks for us and being very true from her heart. She is awesome.

  • This song is just brilliant - a perfect combination of Phyllis Hyman's peerless vocals with a great "hot tempo" beat. Always one of my fave choons :-)

  • I still love this song.

  • This is a great song it got no play time when it came out what a shame !!!!

  • A lot of tracks sounded like Loose Ends back then and Loose Ends sounded like a lot of tracks to. This was the sound of the era and just like many other artists phyliss was catering to the younger generation at the time. Great sound ,Great track and a brilliant artist. We love you Phyllis xxxxx

  • @Pedster9 Sorry sweatheart....but this song was writen buy Jane Eugene,Carl Mcintosh and Steve Nichol, You know who these gus are?? Correct LOOSE ENDS no doubt why this sounds as Loose ends, vocals included, i never understand why they never used this song for his own records, with the voice of Jane Eugene a Soul explosion....

  • Has a Loose Ends feel to it alright, phyllis has some voice!

  • @chameleon747

Nick Martinelli produced both Phylis and Loose Ends

    around the same time

  • Comment removed

  • Very Loose Ends. Stunning. It sounds even better today.

  • Yes, this was on the flip side of one of her singles. Anyway, I wore this release. I played it over and over when dating a jerk!

  • Best singer ever imo. Her voice was the richest voice ever imo and had so much emotion.

  • what a sad end for such a beautiful and talented lady they dont make em like this anymore pure talent with class i hope you have found peace Ms Hyman

  • 9th Wonder must be a Phyllis Hyman fan. i've been find a lot of songs he sampled from her

  • Ok thank u for putting this song up , This was her best Album / CD love this jam .

  • I sound just like her when I sing

  • Miss Phyllis you are a bad girl!!! Sing with the angles !

  • I mean't alicia's piano skills is no mozart and alot of female singers have incorporated piano playing in their music repertoire.

  • One of my favorite albums of all time!

  • I like this one. Go 'head on, Phyllis.

  • I still LOOOVE this record! It didn't chart as high as Living All Alone in late 1986-early 1987, but the radio station in my area in North Carolina played it a lot. It has a similar Loose Ends-sounding groove on this one and Nick Martinelli produced this one, his smooth R&B formula that fits perfectly for Phyllis. This song is still in my head more than 23 years later!!!!!!

  • @north5880 Was the radio station called FOXY99?

  • momma used to play this all the time

  • wicked track..ad d album bck in the day...bless

  • I just love this song even if it was 9th Wonder's sampling of the bridge that introduced me to it. Phyllis had such a beautiful voice; she could make any track completely her own.

  • @ChillRobBeatz what song was this sampled to?

  • @ChastenLouise Little Brother - Star

  • i love dis zong ... mucho mucho ... phyllis, you are an angel ... i miss you

  • baby im sure "the crime is not all yours"....love ya Phyliss.....

  • @73KingDavid "No it's was not ALL Hers"!!

  • I love this song....great melody and words..Al these people that r about to start a singing career need to listen to music legends like her and other music legends.

  • I was so fortunate to have seen Ms Hyman perform 2x in NYC Summerfest along the West Side waterfront - $15.00 all seats - open seating, bring ya 3-peice, Wings, Wine & Weed! Remember how she 'threw' her voice on this!??? The crown went crazy!!! Gawd I miss you, Phyliss! She died of a broken heart, nothing else...

  • Ive got this album up in my loft somewhere.

  • @johnnypick let me have it! :D lol jk

  • When the needle hit the record one knows that it's Phyllis. Unmistakeable voice.

  • i love the 80s....just brilliant!!!

  • She had the most unbelievable soulful voice. Phyllis... R.I.P. Say hi to Luther, Michael, Lou, Marvin and Teddy and the rest of the gang !!

  • The album can be bought on Amazon

  • @GreenSax7 Thanks didn't know

  • This album is no longer avaiable "Living all Alone" I am mad.

  • @toolmansg This album brought me out of a divorce. So sorry it didn't save Phyliss. Sorry she took those pills to end her life. She lives through me! Holla from Heaven!

  • no female artist today could match her talent. used to have this album. thanks for the memories of this song

  • @mrdawsonllc Alicia Keys, in my opinion, does match her talent in some ways, and in different ways even surpasses it, such as by using the piano in her music. However, Phyllis voice is more mesmeris/zing than Alicia's.

  • @FSMDudeFan sorry, Ms. Hyman trumps Alicia vocally. She just didn't have the backing of her record label and not to mention she got lost in the grunge and post grudge era. Alicia is a good songwriter, but her piano is mozart. Ms. Hyman is a vocal goddess along with Anita Baker, Toni Braxton. I just have all love for women with husky and sensual voices.

  • @citizenlen Both Alicia Keys and Phyllis Hyman would do/have done well in any R&B/Soul era.

  • @FSMDudeFan Alicia's a good singer but Phyllis was an excellent one and could do more with her voice than Alicia.

  • Peaked at #29 on the R&B Charts. Produced by Loose Ends and Nick Martinelli.

  • used to have this album in 86 forgot how this song go but remember it was one of the top 4 songs on the album. thnks a lot

  • I have no words for this fine number !

  • i finally heard both versions, julie's version is nice too, the production is better but compared to phyllis version its not as good as phyllis's version vocally (she can sing but shes singing it somewhat hard), in my opinion it sounds better with softer vocals. in spite of that, julies version is now in rotation on my itunes ol' skool playlist, lol.

  • Idm0584,you wouldn't be nice enough to share other version of this ?Can't see it on here .I did google too.

  • ok, give me a few days to make it into a video file, i'll post it here as a video response to this one, look out for it.

  • Man,that would be best ever you done for me.Thanks

  • Idm0584 .We Still looking forward to that number pls.Thanks.

  • i bought this on tape in 86 atfer hearing on the robbie vincent show still got it.

  • i Iast heard this on the Richard Searling show a few weeks ago.(starts saturdays at 5pm)on Smooth FM (north west england). It sounded so good driving along the M6 & it reminded me of just what we lost when she died.

Ms hyman is immortal, she will forever live on in our hearts & in her music.

    Thanks for posting

  • Reminds me of the Carlton Club Warrington on a Sunday night...........brings back memories!!

  • Unmistakeable voice from the first note to the last one knows its Ms Hyman. Some kind of pipes she had. Sang that song lady.

  • this whole album was hard. classic!

  • Nice track by Phyllis, produced by Nick Martinelli who also produced for the great English R&B band Loose Ends. The usual 80s DX7 Rhodes trademark included in the package lol!

  • This track is bad bad!!!!! Brings back fantastic memories. Ol Skool. Claude

  • Never heard this song before! Simply, one of my favorites by Phyllis.

Phyllis is one of the best female singers that ever existed. Period!

  • THANK YOU SO much for posting this song! I love, Love, LOVE Phyllis Hyman! This album and Goddess of Love are my favorite 2 by her. She is SORELY missed.

  • @VideoVixen24 me tooooooo. Doesn't get much better than PH. Peace.

  • I have been looking for this track for YEARS myself. I was 12/13 when this track came out. I'm from PHL too, and have loved Phyllis' music since childhood.

You're right, RevolverOcelot07, this track is very underrated, but this is my top track from Phyllis.

  • One of the most beautiful women the world ever knew, and a voice that could truly move you! Miss this incredible talent

  • She's gone but her music will never be forgotten. Thanks for posting this one because for some strange reason, this song was very underrated.

  • Been years..wow..thanks for posting!

  • The Queen is Dead, Long Live the Queen.

    Her Royal Highness Phylis Hyman.

  • I have been dying to hear this for the longest!!Thnx!

  • there will never be another!!! Bring back the 80's!!!

  • In 1986 I was still in college. In 1987 I was graduating from college. This HAD to be in 1987 because I distincly rememeber being OUT of college when it first came out. It was the BOMB back then and it is the BOMB now.

  • I agree!!! Yes this was 1987!!!I have been searching for this song for years & can't believe I found it! I never knew about an original version by Julie Roberts. . .who?? RIP-Phyllis Hyman

  • Who da hail is Julie Roberts? I never even heard the name before.

  • LOL! I know of the actress Julia Roberts but who in the hell is Julie Roberts?????

  • thetrendblazer,

I don't have a clue as to who Julie Robert is. Perhaps you need to ask magnnum01 since he was the one who first mentioned Julie Robert in the first place.

  • Phyllis kicks ass

  • its was good old song from late phyllis hyman i was six years old

  • It's taken me more than a year to find this song with you.....so thank you so very much!! Does anyone have Shanice---It's For You?!!!! Please? The video if possible.

  • Prosumers,

It has been 3 months since your request. I dunno if you have found it since then, but if you are still searching or Shanice's video titled "It's For You" well then I have it. So let me know if you still want it.

  • I love the entire album.

  • This song was produced by Loose Ends (or their producer, I think) and the single went Top 30 on the R&B Charts in 1986/1987. This is one of my favorite old school jams..however, I KNOW I remember watching BET Jazz on a Sunday in 2004 and seeing a VIDEO for this song..she was in a house with wind blowing..I know I remember seeing this

  • Correct my friend - it was Nick Martinelli at the helm. I like this track to. Got that classic backing!

  • Thanks, and do you know if the song had a video to it

  • Are you referring to the original version? Julie Robert's version, which which was made in 1985?

  • Naw, I meant this version. I've watched her videos for "Living All Alone", "Living in Confusion", and "Don't Wanna Change the World", but I distinctly remember seeing a misty, 80s-looking music video of Phyllis Hyman on an edition of BET Jazz one Sunday afternoon in 2004, and the setting of the video looked exactly like the Living All Alone album cover. The song sounded sort of mid tempo, and I remember wind blowing through a house or somethin, lol.

  • I see. Not many people realize that this is not the original version, Julie Roberts recorded this in 1985 & I believe it was produced & written by Loose ends on the bluebird label. Although this is a fine rendition, Julie's version is the better of the the lot...
