  • Greenwich Village, like most of downtown Manhattan = Murdered by yuppies and hipsters

  • Oh my God, I was gonna pay a visit to Greenwich but it is a total let down, so scuzzy looking, I better visit Oregon instead.

  • @FARSA84 its called "character". I'm sure Oregon is wonderful... I love the west coast myself, but life is a range of experiences and the world has so many faces to its streets. Dont miss out on the parts of NYC that are away from the flash and neon signs. In my opinion these are the most interesting!

  • New York City!

    (Bring money)

  • --ity is just amazing :) I've lived in California all my life too and I've only been here once.

  • i would smoke a fatty with rico

  • Can you tell me please...How is the rock scene in NYC? i.e. a good place for a rock band to to try and make it? Are there studio apartments for $800 in Brooklyn/Bronx/? Is it true that there are a lot of single Puerto Rican/Dominican/Black/Multi-racial women in NYC? Any information would be appreciated.

  • I wouldnt touch him with a stick gross

  • My band has played a couple shows here(In Greenwich we're from upstate). I definitely love walking through it but I'm more of a suburban guy so if I had to pick a borough I'd live in it'd be Queens or Staten Island. The place this is guying is eating at(Ben's Pizzeria) is where we got pizza and it is verrry good!

  • Rico, please go to hell.

  • That guy in the beginning is like...my best friend. JSYK we have conversations about how he knew Jimmi Hendrix. We're basically bff.

  • @LuluMagooo42 If you mean that guy Rico, then i feel sorry for you.

  • I see nothing but a bunch of rich wannabe starving artist yuppies for the most part. Manhattan is almost completely disneyfied now

  • New York looks like my kind of city. I have lived in California my whole life and I have never visited New York. Manhattan looks fucking awesome; all those highrises and urban energy. I could live in Manhattan. I wish downtown L.A was more like Manhattan.

  • @Juliansworld New York C

  • ALL THOSE EUROPEAN PLACES WERE INSPIRED BY GREENWICH VILLAGE???

    IS THIS GUY INSANE??

  • a night i fucked on that park with a black guy! ! it was dark and dangerous l o l fun

  • Want free tickets to an off-broadway, internationally acclaimed "psycho-comedy" in Greenwich Village? Check out '666'. If you're into Conan O'Brien or Saturday Night Live, you'll love 666 and its lewd, politically incorrect and hysterical clowning. Take a look at our videos and follow us on Twitter @666comedy for free tickets, more info and comedy news. Enjoy the city!

  • Ha,ha. I went to the Village 45 years ago. That would have been when this Rico character was still in San Juan stealing hubcaps.

It was magical then. I was 16 years old and from Harlem and had no idea what I had walked into.

Bob dylan was playing at a place call "Cafe Wha?" Joan Baez was down the street at another cafe.

Sometimes they and other entertainers would stroll over to Washington Square Park and light up a joint.

  • That is fuck'n rad, dude.

  • its' so hard to figure out where to live!

i might move here, but im also trying to decide between SoHo and Brooklyn

  • how many times does he said RICO FONSECA??

  • The "Village" looks great. The problem with the village is that:

    1. There are few supermarkets and food is too expensive.

    2. It's geographically low, so the air pollution is choking, especially on hot days.

    3. The public schools down there are terrible.

It's a great place to live if you're going to NYU, but otherwise, you'd be better off on the Upper West Side.

  • The public schools are far from terrible.

  • who is this guy???

  • hes rico...rico fonseca

  • sadly, it isn't the artistic haven it once was. it's mostly wannabes because the REAL artists can't afford to live there anymore. the yuppies took over years ago but it's still a wonderful place to visit!

  • @This19 Amen to that, This! The Village has become so cost-prohibitive to the real artists. Very sad. We can thank Giuliani and Bloomjew for that.

  • oh! come on!! Paris is being inspired by the Greenwich village ? really? I don't think so... Actually I think it's sometimes the opposite; as well as Amsterdam, may I remind you that New York use to be New Amsterdam ? look at some of the architecture in te village. Rico, tou need to go visit Amsterdam , and Paris. I love NYC, I love the village , but saying that it is "THE bohemian" place , is not true, not today, not anymore... maybe Bourgeois-bohemian as we say in france "BoBo"

  • any know of apts. accepting section 8? any holes in the wall around greenwich?

  • Washington Square is not "NYC in a nutshell." Anyone who thinks that is suffering from an extremely myopic world view.

Musicians and artists ("Bohemians") are not the whole world.

  • @JackBlair2 You are absolutely right! In fact, the Village is UNIQUE from the rest of NYC! I was born and raised there, I should know....!

  • you people need to stop being such jerks...o_O

  • i dont have a word for this guy

  • greenwhich is prat of little italy

  • The Original New York City Free Advice Man began doing his thing at the corner of Bleecker Street and 7th Avenue South. For more about The Free Advice Man just Google "Jean-Pierre Ady Fenyo" or "The Free Advice Man". Have fun!

  • i have no clue wat dat guy is saying

  • love greenwich village. beautiful part of the city. Rico is annoying as hell. Wow. Mention Bob Dylan again, seriously.

  • agree with Rico being annoying. Greenwich is my absolute favorite part of the city.

  • Enrico, you're a very humble man.

  • damn i miss new york.......i live in south carolina now and it's driving me nuts. i don't fit in down here.

  • im from sc and i just moved to new york. best decision i ever made :)

  • i'm sure you're loving life up there. i'm envious. i miss the city so much

  • Of course south carolina is filled with rednecks and white trash, who would want to live down there unless your redneck trash.

  • anybody know how expensive it is to rent a place round there?

  • New York is the greatest city in the god damn world bar none.

  • Okay, does anyone remember RollaRena from the Village in 70's and 80's?

It was guy who used to dress up in a tutu and roller skates and fly around Manhattan with a wand.

  • Great video...Rico made me laugh!! I played the Cafe Wha? and sang at the Fillmore East. Grew up on the Upper West side. Of all the pain, it's a history and culture I am proud to have been a part of. Here's a video response.

  • bens pizza beest in the village? NO. walk your lazy bohemian ass up to joes on carmine.

  • The song by OTIS at 1:08 is dope! Btw,...the fellow who mentioned soho in ny and london is now gash is probably correct. corporate took over cool shyte cause its sellable. twats followed, anyhoo. Did anyone see Beastie's in central park 1.5 years ago? I swore, it was all bankers and other well off chumps (i guess me included) and i could tell the band was like, "whats with this crowd" Maybe things change. Perhaps the new bohemian vibe is somewhere else now,...life changes and moves. peace.

  • live soho in London the coporate world has grabbed a hold of it and turned it into a pile of shit.

  • aye, the only people who live there are the ones who have the money to buy culture not be part of it, thus meaning anyone from any background can't go down there anymore, thatchers legacy i guess

  • I was raised in the village. It gave me a great education when it came to the arts and observing life in general. I was rarely bored. Thank for the vid!

  • RICO!

  • It used to be accessible and livable until almost every area has been gentrified to death. Even Harlem now. But I still love me some New York.

  • i had to come back because this video is so ejoyable , i love the guys accent . cool people . peace,..............

  • love the description of the west village as 'bohemian'. Really.

  • true ocenablew a bunch of rich spoiled brats

that come to wsp, The 80s and 90s were the shit for washington park, breakdancers,

boomboxes, musicians, nyc has fukin became

suburb, its not the city I know

  • fucking loosers

  • It used to be full of boehemian artists now it's all a bunch of little corporate asshole kids.

  • oh man this is da place if you wanna by a wanna :) i mean ganja

  • Where's Danny Tate? His sister Kathy Tate? The Raves?

Josie "How's your hammer honey?" The mid 60s rocked in GV.

  • 5*****

  • Would've been nice. If it wasn't gentrified shitless.
