@FARSA84 its called "character". I'm sure Oregon is wonderful... I love the west coast myself, but life is a range of experiences and the world has so many faces to its streets. Dont miss out on the parts of NYC that are away from the flash and neon signs. In my opinion these are the most interesting!
Can you tell me please...How is the rock scene in NYC? i.e. a good place for a rock band to to try and make it? Are there studio apartments for $800 in Brooklyn/Bronx/? Is it true that there are a lot of single Puerto Rican/Dominican/Black/Multi-racial women in NYC? Any information would be appreciated.
My band has played a couple shows here(In Greenwich we're from upstate). I definitely love walking through it but I'm more of a suburban guy so if I had to pick a borough I'd live in it'd be Queens or Staten Island. The place this is guying is eating at(Ben's Pizzeria) is where we got pizza and it is verrry good!
New York looks like my kind of city. I have lived in California my whole life and I have never visited New York. Manhattan looks fucking awesome; all those highrises and urban energy. I could live in Manhattan. I wish downtown L.A was more like Manhattan.

sadly, it isn't the artistic haven it once was. it's mostly wannabes because the REAL artists can't afford to live there anymore. the yuppies took over years ago but it's still a wonderful place to visit!
oh! come on!! Paris is being inspired by the Greenwich village ? really? I don't think so... Actually I think it's sometimes the opposite; as well as Amsterdam, may I remind you that New York use to be New Amsterdam ? look at some of the architecture in te village. Rico, tou need to go visit Amsterdam , and Paris. I love NYC, I love the village , but saying that it is "THE bohemian" place , is not true, not today, not anymore... maybe Bourgeois-bohemian as we say in france "BoBo"
The Original New York City Free Advice Man began doing his thing at the corner of Bleecker Street and 7th Avenue South. For more about The Free Advice Man just Google "Jean-Pierre Ady Fenyo" or "The Free Advice Man". Have fun!

Great video...Rico made me laugh!! I played the Cafe Wha? and sang at the Fillmore East. Grew up on the Upper West side. Of all the pain, it's a history and culture I am proud to have been a part of. Here's a video response.
The song by OTIS at 1:08 is dope! Btw,...the fellow who mentioned soho in ny and london is now gash is probably correct. corporate took over cool shyte cause its sellable. twats followed, anyhoo. Did anyone see Beastie's in central park 1.5 years ago? I swore, it was all bankers and other well off chumps (i guess me included) and i could tell the band was like, "whats with this crowd" Maybe things change. Perhaps the new bohemian vibe is somewhere else now,...life changes and moves. peace.
aye, the only people who live there are the ones who have the money to buy culture not be part of it, thus meaning anyone from any background can't go down there anymore, thatchers legacy i guess
I was raised in the village. It gave me a great education when it came to the arts and observing life in general. I was rarely bored. Thank for the vid!
its a cool place today . in the 60s , the fukin people looked geeky as fuk with those fukin buddy holly looking glasses haha what a bunch of fuks hahahahaha

Ha,ha. I went to the Village 45 years ago. That would have been when this Rico character was still in San Juan stealing hubcaps.
It was magical then. I was 16 years old and from Harlem and had no idea what I had walked into.
Bob dylan was playing at a place call "Cafe Wha?" Joan Baez was down the street at another cafe.
Sometimes they and other entertainers would stroll over to Washington Square Park and light up a joint.

The "Village" looks great. The problem with the village is that:
1. There are few supermarkets and food is too expensive.
2. It's geographically low, so the air pollution is choking, especially on hot days.
3. The public schools down there are terrible.
It's a great place to live if you're going to NYU, but otherwise, you'd be better off on the Upper West Side.
MondoBeno 2 years ago
The public schools are far from terrible.

@This19 Amen to that, This! The Village has become so cost-prohibitive to the real artists. Very sad. We can thank Giuliani and Bloomjew for that.

Washington Square is not "NYC in a nutshell." Anyone who thinks that is suffering from an extremely myopic world view.
Musicians and artists ("Bohemians") are not the whole world.
