  • Oh man, I REALLY miss the angel system. :/ 2008-09 was my freshman year and now I'm a senior, and they just switched to a new system and IT SUCKS. :/

  • @kSandCj haha I am in the same grade as you. I thought the same thing a month ago. Now, i am used to k12, just as I eventually got used to angel. Its all about the it sucks learning curve lol. Are you more used to it now?

  • @macluke170 I'm used to it, I guess. I still don't like it very much. One thing that's good about the k12 switch is the laptops are SO much better!

  • @kSandCj I'm still with my original laptop. That thing refused to break down.

  • @macluke170 Are you kidding me? I must just have horrible luck with laptops. Honestly, I've probably gone through 15 computers since I started...:o

  • I really want to go to NYU. I'm thinking about what school I want to attend online because, public school is just not for me. I've never liked the enviroment, I'm social don't get me wrong, but I always feel like I'm wasting my time in there when I could be learning more than bare necessities. So far, I'm considering Provost, Insight, and K12. Help?

  • @AllYoursTonight I have never attended Provost or K12. All I can really tell you is what I know, and that is Insight. I love Insight and I fell that is has a lot to offer. One thing I would focus on in your search is how much teacher involvement you can get. All Insight teachers have Elluminate sessions and office hours. Office hours allow you to ask questions and get one on one help with your teacher. I would look for something comparable. Teacher support availability is important.

  • so do have to plug the computer in to somthing another computer to get internet or douse it come with internet

  • @11terrah It's a regular computer. If you have wi-fi it already has a wi-fi card in it. If you don't have wi-fi use ethernet to the modem or buy a wi-fi base station. If you don't know if you have wi-fi, ask your parents.

  • do u have to recieve the computer cause they wont tell me my pass and is it cause i dont have my computer yet

  • @11terrah you should call the Insight offices for your state or tech support to get the password and username. I think they would give it to you if you asked. My user and pass came with the computer i think, but calling and asking can't hurt and they will probably give it to you. once you have the username and password any computer can be used.

  • do they teach u how to use angle before u start cause im getting my password and starting tomarrow

  • @11terrah um they used to have videos at the start of the year. Maybe you can still get to them or they will put them on the announcement page in angel. I don't really know about others, but at ISMN they have no assignments the whole first week of the semester to let you get used to angel. After a while you get used to it. Over the past two years since I made this video they have made some really great improvements so this video review of angel is really out of date.

  • @macluke170 thx

  • do you have to pay for the computers??????? do you get books????????? would you say that you are glad by doing this online school???? i want to start in the fall but i dont know if im going to like it or not

  • @sadexchange123 It's a public school so the computers are free to you. By default the books are PDF downloads from the Angel system, however you can ask for hardcover ones to be sent to you (I did). I enjoy Insight, I am in my third year now and I plan to stick with them. It is definitely not for everyone, I can tell you that. Some people hate it and others love it. It takes a lot of self motivation, all of the students I talk to will tell you that. Also, If you can adapt to change its good.

  • what do you mean by uh you learn on your own? like through books and stuff? do we get one teacher or many depending on the classes we take?

  • hi i am very interested in going to insight school of los angeles california but since its my junior important year i dont want to screw it up and end up graduating late or something youu know? especially because im taking a lot of ap classes right now but i have trouble paying attention with all the drama so basically would you recommend it for me? and can you explain how it works? please thanks

  • @mcaliforniam Online school doesn't work for everyone so without knowing you I can not recommend it for you. I can tell you that you probably won't screw it up to the point where you fail. Online or traditional school, the majority of the time the only ones who fail are the ones who don't make an effort. As long as you work hard you won't fail. The worst I see happening is you not liking it.

I will post a second comment to reply to your other question.

  • @mcaliforniam Insight is an online public school. It is a public school so that means its free and you get a diploma. All of you learning content is online. Your teachers will be state certified. The big difference is that your are responsible for you education. Your teacher will have a online weekly lecture only as an edition to your education material. You learn on your own for the most part unless you need help then you ask the teacher over email, phone, office hours, or the online lecture.

  • whats the difference w/ the angel insight...? is it already in the program in the laptop? which subject is the hardest to do would u say? i hear math is #1 for most ppl. Iduno if u'v taken chemistry, but if so, is it rrly hard online? do reccomend me getting a tutor out of skool? (i can w/ no prob.) probably will anyway. is every class 1 hr long? or 55 min.?can u possibily take every class after every hour? for ex, like 1 pm i have a class and ends at 2, but thts when anther class of minestarts

  • @chuchi100293 Could you rephrase you first question, please? Angel is a website so basically a web program that is never downloaded. Elluminate is a program you will be using and that is downloaded automatically upon first use. I would say I find math to be one of the most challenging subjects, however I think that is a country wide viewpoint. I take chemistry this next school year. When you say class what are you referring to? Your online work or the teachers lectures?

  • @macluke170 sry for so many questions, i just rrly want to kno if this is right 4 me. w/ the 1st ques. i wasn't sure wat angel is. U just explained it kinda weird in ur vid so i wasn't sure wat tht program was. I was referring to any class. For example, 8 a.m i have math than 9a.m i was literature than 10 a.m i have science. How long do teachers teach than? i thot they would lecture just as long as a public skool does (55 min) is there a limit of time to do online work? how long is it if so.

  • @chuchi100293 the teachers "teach" for 60 minutes a week in an online lecture. In the lecture the go over the unit for that week, answer questions, and fill you in on anything that was not presented by the required reading and study materials. Since the teachers only have one 60 minute lecture a week you learn independently. You learn by reading the text book, reading the other study materiel, and by doing the tests that are presented by the computer and not the teacher.

  • @macluke170 im still confused.....so how long do teachers teach a day than if i take 5 classes? 50 mins? plus schoool work? i thot that teachers teach u for 1 hr like public skool. And than i also thot that oncce they're done teaching u do online skoo work...? ok than.....a day how LONG does EVERYTHING take?? i'm thinking of working in the morning and afternoon do online skool work. Would it taje me 7 hours a day on a computer for skool? including lectures/hw

  • @chuchi100293 Sorry for your confusion. Each teacher teaches 60 minutes a week in the form of an online lecture. It is mainly your responsibility to teach your self through the textbook and other materials daily. There is no set amount of time for how long it takes to finish your school work. It takes as long as it takes you to finish your daily work. for me its about 5.5-7 hours daily. The online lecture is an addition to your education not the main source.

  • @macluke170 thank u so much, now i understand! yes, i do care, i just don't want to end up hating online skool. It's just i'm worried at staring into a computer 4 so long. My eyes hurt after and hour. Within the time u said 5-7 hours or online skool, does that include brakes? or w/o>? and how long do u take ur brakes?

  • @chuchi100293 You can ask the school for actually textbooks or just hit that you have dial-up when enrolling into insight. Otherwise you will just be using a ebook. The time i said does not include breaks. My breaks between classes usually differ in amount. My eyes never really hurt after looking at the computer screen so breaks from the computer are not a huge issue for me. May I ask what kind of screen you usually use? The type of screen really makes a difference on the eyes.

  • @macluke170 oh phew thats great than. 5-7 hrs straight of learning is a lot tho.U would have thot tht there is break inbetween. It doesn't matter. Sure thing, i use a HP desktop/laptop. I guess desktop since it's rrly heavy but it looks rrly nice. Does it rrly? i thot it was just b/c i have sensitive eyes or something.. may i ask wat kind of screen u have? do u reccomend any laptops for sensitive eyes?

  • @chuchi100293 I didn't really mean brand. I was talking more type of screen. For example the older CRT monitors can really hurt your eyes after a few hours. Newer LCD screens are some of the best for your eyes. To reduce eye strain I recommend focusing your eyes on something far off in to the distance every 10 minutes or so. A lot of experts say that by doing that it will decrease eye strain.

  • @macluke170 oh sry, i didn't kno wat tht was. Kinda fingure the older ones r always worse tho. How do i find out wat CRT or LCD i have? whenever my eyes hurt i just look a away for a few minutes or just leave the comp. for an hour.

    thnks :)

  • @chuchi100293 Also, don't hesitate to send me your questions. It is nice to know that you care about your education.

  • just wondering... what grade r u in currently? can u use ur own laptop and insight schools laptop at the same time...2 get answers...?? is it possible?

  • @chuchi100293 I am going into 11th grade (with Insight). To answer your question Angel, Insights program does allow for more than one terminal per user to function at the same time. When you are doing the tests you should try and answer as many questions as you can without having to go back to the ebook.

  • i'm doing insight of Washington in fall of 2010 and enrolling soon how is it.

  • would anyone say its easier or atleast more fun than regular high school?

  • Comment removed

  • okay so i am enrolled for this in febuary what is some advice for this insight school?

  • Me and a lot of students would agree that the best thing you can do at insight is not get behind. Invest the proper amount of time in to this so that you don't get behind.

  • Comment removed

  • I go to Insight school of Washington=) This years my first year..it's cool so far and as long as you do the student orientation.. Then the angel program isn't that bad but YES it has it's glitches.. On my first day one of my teachers had a elluminate session and there were 20 of the "teachers" in that room.. At least it said her name for 20 of the students.. It was weird but funny:)

    Check out my videos:)

  • Im doing Insight this fall and spring for the first time, i hope that Angel program isnt glitched like you say.

  • In recent months it it has gotten a lot better but still the layout does take some getting used to.

  • hallelujah.

do you think the mn insight is any diff from co insight?

and like how much time do you usually spend on the freaking computer for work?

    sorry lots of questions :D

  • They have different staff and stuff but they all use the same system and the same basic curriculum so they can't be that different. I spend a lot of time on the computer regardless of school so I can't really say how much of that time is spent on school lol.

  • Aye do you know if you could take just take one or two classes with the only schooling?

  • Yes, Some online schools do offer that. Insight does not.

  • I teach for Insight of Kansas!

  • You Should post a video more about the laptop showing how good it is and stuff. Maybe mention the RAM and MEMORY of it.

  • ok maybe this weekend if i am not to busy. also ram and memory are the same thing.

  • Hahah, yeah.... That's pretty funny.

But I'm looking to get into this program for my senior year. Since you're experienced with it, would you recommend it?

  • Yea if it looks interesting to you than I say go for it.

  • I'm in Insight of Nevada! :)

  • what school do you go too?Are you in college

  • insight is a online high school

  • haha my dad started insight no joke

  • are you taken a college online school?

  • no, insight is a online high school.

  • Nice Video
