This was the first story in "Dr. Seuss on the Loose." It even came after "The Cat in the Hat" on that same videotape I watched with me and my brother when we were really little.
@MultiRajuncajun you idiot didn't you learn anything from this? violence is a stupid way to change things and nothing ever changes for the right with violence
@tayloreh dude i don't where you got your dictionary from but last time i checked idiot is an insult to describe someone who is stupid not to threaten someone with violence
@cartoonkingforeever Words do as much as any physical acts of harm, if not more. Words create the motivation for everything. The way we phrase our thoughts within ourselves and phrase them to others make all the difference in how we perceive life. People can do the right thing out of selfishness, and then come across aggressive while doing it, and get nowhere. The star machine guy, even though he's a moneygrubber, he's actually the hero; he uses nonviolence to help them see their hypocrisy.
@WumWip I was thinking almost the same thing. Real actors playing every part in Sneetch costumes, but fixed up a bit with CG. Except Danny DeVito MUST play Sylvester McMonkey McBean! 8D
@jenksmaster Your history teacher was a bit confused, I think. The story is very obviously about excessive class consciousness and destructive fashion following.
@CapitalistOverlord Well it's not per se racist, it happens between skin colour, gender or any visual difference or perhaps even people that own a pair of striped shorts. And then there's the capitalist that takes advantage of it and just plays it out and leaves with all of their money. And I don't think this is too far fetched because it's Dr. Seuss, because he has some really thought through stuff.
@Nagneto i agree. that's what dr.seuss was all about, no matter which book or movie you watch, he always adds a moral to help children learn something and be entertained. (:
There IS a Seuss theme park, sort of. It's the Seuss Landing "island" at Universal's Islands of Adventure. No Sneetch fun houses, though, but there are Sneetches along the lagoon and whatnot.
@TelevisionFTW1 I saw both the edited for Dr. Seuss on the Loose version and the whole version when it premiered on Cartoon Network back in '97, and I don't remember that either, granted that was about 14 years ago, but still...
@adamlore HAHA i love dr. seuss

We watched this to figure out whether or not Sylvester McMonkey McBean was a captain of industry or a robber baron. I think it's pretty obvious.

To hell with overused3-D and CGI. It'd make a better animatronic puppet movie instead...Just like 1990's Ninja Turtles movie

@jenksmaster Your history teacher was a bit confused, I think. The story is very obviously about excessive class consciousness and destructive fashion following.
LadyDeirdre 6 months ago 3
@jenksmaster This is far from truth. It's about how the real world works. Capitalists playing the people against eachother for profit.
Sharangir 6 months ago
@Sharangir It sounds more like a criticism of the racist tendencies of Seuss's contemporaries.
But even that is looking too deeply into it. This is Dr. Seuss, for fuck's sake.
