Wow ...Thank you Penny this was a very good video, you really help me out greatly understanding my wife. She has cyclothymia bi polar and its putting a lot of stress on our marriage (she wont take any meds) You are a very strong and a brave person to do this you're helping a lot off people by doing this thank you again A stay strong.
@ArkansasGillum lol i know ur comment was from long ago but if im reading it correctly ure tryna be funny..i dont know am i right ?Cos i thought what u wrote was funny :)
Is there a dr you've seen before? A psych dr? Call and tell them your situation and ask them if there is any chance you could get any of your meds as samples until you get your situation figured out. I just had to do this with my Seroquel XR because it costs $550 a month & I was in the middle of getting my Medicare pharmacy coverage.
Yeah, I've been in some really sticky situations when it came to coverage and meds. I hope you do figure something out. Any clinics you can go to? Can you get samples or anything from a dr's office?
Applying a label isn't the most important thing, just makes it quicker, easier to categorize and file papers. What is important is identifying what symptoms you have and getting those symptoms treated in a way that works for you.
I once had a really weird psychotic moment when I was stirring my morning coffee. I felt a dead rat in the cup. I just knew I was stirring a dead rat and I freaked out. Couldn't drink coffee for a while. Of course when I could bring myself to look into the cup, there was nothing there but coffee.
Wow, that's an interesting one. I felt the splattered blood of a delusional memory. I told my therapist I remembered the splattered blood, but the memory was delusional and was much much more clear than any real memory could be. The brain is fascinating and frightening.
Hi...i have cychlothymia..iv been diagnosed two years back,...before controlling it with medication,i was really going crazy with all the disorganized thoughts in my head and all the confusion around me,but then,it became much better... my advice to you would be, just enjoy what you got in hi's and norm's...its all great...JUST STICK TO THOSE AROUND YOU WHO UNDERSTAND YOU,and know you are genuine...saying ur sad,is sad, saying ur happy is happy ..

Thanks for the advice. I've been learning about my bipolar disorder since I was diagnosed, which was over ten years ago. Sometimes it helps to be reminded and taken back to the basics. Unfortunately, it is my personality type to want to organize and categorize things. It's what makes me feel comfortable in a world where there is really little control. I can get caught up in the details, is what I am saying.
TRUE..i agree with you... I feel the same way too...i feel much comfortable with organizing my thoughts the way i please...makes me /gives me sense to adapt even better...
Same here...any tips to do ? i'm sooo edgy and ful of rage..with no reason...it kills me at times...but finding someone here that i like to talk to and i feel that understands me, gives me a better feeling.. i'm glad...alot online ,but something bout you, ur genuine and sincere... i'm a GEMINI :P AIR!
Well, depression, I just deal with it like I always have until it goes away or is taken care of by meds, bascially when my mind says stay in bed that is my cue to drag myself out, bath, dress. I always feel a little better after that. The irritability, I have not good tips. Right now I am at its mercy, completely helpless, verbally ripping off the heads of people I like/love & destroying objects. I can't stop it when it has begun.
Hmm,i understand what you mean! i really do...its been telling me to stay in bed for long now..cry and dont know what to do with myself..pushing away ppl i love /like..but yo uknow...those who love me and do know me pretty well,do stick around yet,but i can hurt at times, verbally i mean...but they do know i dont mean it,,and they tell me afterwards, when im' feeling much better.... if i may ask you,how long does ur depression last?
My downs tend to mirror my highs-euphoric or irritable-in length & intensity. Both before I got treatment & when the treatment wasn't working, the major downs lasted weeks to months. One lasted a little over a year but that one was complicated by life changes. Now I'm experiencing mood changes that last only days, cycling over & over-up for 3 days, down for about 3, rinse & repeat. We're working on this & managed to bring the manias down, made the cycles not as tight & severe, they stretch out.
The Kindling effect i kind of agree with. I am untreated and i feel the more i go left untreated the worse it will get. Over the years i have struggled to cope more and more. Half my trouble is going to see the doctor and actually saying i have a problem... most of the time i play down how i feel.
Thank you for explaining this, it made me think alot so thank you
Hello.....I have cyclothymia.....its hard at times.....please do not take the diagnostic guidelines as gospel...they are statistical and do not repressent everyone.
Try to ignore the labels and the psycho bable and do the best to keep happy in the norm or high...
Thanks for the comment. I was hoping people with cyclothymia would. As I said, I don't know much about it. What is it like for you?
I wanted some videos to be educational in a formal way, and some by showing. It is important for people to know the defintions of terms. I only had time for general defintions. In the vid I mention that rarely does anyone fit in the DSM-IV categories neatly. In other vids I mention that not everyone has the same set of symptoms.

Also, thanks for this video. I found it while Googling "kindling effect."

Anyway, now I can talked about things more freely, like in my depression & manic videos. They were definitely much more fulfilling to make.
