Many people think the M6 has won because BMW knows how to build engines!!

Although The Lamborghini is indeed lighter it also has TWO MAJOR downsides:

1) AWD: It will greatly rob horsepower and performance especially at high speeds

2) Gearbox: Has tall gearing (The Lambo can reach 100kph/60mph in 1st gear, the M6 reaches the same speed in 2nd gear), drag racers know that the closer your ratios are the faster you accelerate, the BMW has 7 speeds, at 150mph the M6 is in 6th and the Lambo in 5th

Why do people have such a hard time believing that an M6/M5 can keep up with a Lambo, esp. a Gallardo. The M5 came out in 2005/2006, so the fact that the car in the video is a 2008 is irrelevant, as they are the same power, same tranny and virtually the same car. Also, to the person who said that 3100lbs and 3900lbs is roughly the same, LOL. Umm, 800lbs is a HUGE difference. Massive! So the M6 did EXTREMELY well to overcome that. M-Power all the way...

How to know has what rpm it is necessary to shift gear for best performance optimal?For example in X5m shifting at 7000rpm(redline) or 6500 orange zone on the rev counter in bmw M for the best performance? because i want participated at your run but i don't know if it should shift at the redline or at the power max of my motors (its 5800rpm power max in bmw 135i for example redline at 7000rpm,so why the zone redline isn't at 5800rpm or 6000????WHAT necessity going to the 7000rpm redline????).

@m3e46forever1 i will explain you why,  you see it is true that the max power it is reached at aprox 6000... and the car can rev up till 7000, it very simple to understand why, it`s because when you shift up the needle drops from 7000 to 6000 and now in the new gear you have max power... if a car is made with the redline at 6000 where it has max power, when you shift, you will not use full power in the next gear... logic

granted, this is a 2008 or newer model in this video, the m6 came out in 2006 and that year is no faster or slower than an 08-2010 model. so if this is an 05 gallardo, an 06 m6 would give the same result with only a year difference between the two. anything other than a standard gallardo would kill an m6. im just saying, give credit where credit is due. as an m6 owner, this vid is correct in my opinion

@Capo131074 ummm lol no That is a 500HP E gear lambo...which lasted up to 2005.... it has the same ammount of HP as the M6 the only difference is its way OLDER 2005 Vs 2008/2009 - July of 2010 The 2005 Lambo Weighted 3153 LBS while the M6 weighted a lil bit more 3935LBS not much difference, the 2005 Lambo had a similar launch control as the BMW M3, Ferrari 360 F1 and F430, as well as pre-2008 Formula 1 cars, for a 2005 gallardo it did an awesome job keeping up with a newer more advance vehicle

If it is m6 and gallardo you are talking about its because the 7 speed SMG transmission aside from being able to switch gears in 85millisecs it also has a better gear ratio and the top end performance of the S85 V10 in the m6 is stronger than the one in the gallardo. This is why the delimited M6 can achieve 205mph which is pretty damn good for a heavy luxury GT.

that is great on the top end.. im talking from the dig..through the quarter mile. SMG, 7 speed is fine but power to weight is the other player. The M6 would "eventually" get to 205. Comparing V10 isnt the issue either. Both are good. Match up the HP/Torgue curves, power to weight..etc.. then on the top end gearing is more apparent..
