  • I am suddenly craving a black and white cookie.

  • "only the discipline of logic saved my planet from extinction."

  • That chinesse guy is gay. and just got married about a year ago. (he admits to watching american idol.)

  • why does the whole universe speak english. and how did that human checker board know what an ape is?

  • This episode is more relevant today than ever.Today we live in a world where insane "Us vs them" conflicts continue on---the right hates the left, the christians hate the muslims, etc.

  • so shatner does say, sabotaaaage

  • SABOHTAAJ

  • video keep dying out and showing the share replay respond tabs as if the video completed. The video was only 20% done! youtubeGOOGLE stop messing with my viewing UP Y OURS!

  • funny how the commercials always load fast enough but not the episodes. Also why are the commercials so flipping load. I have to turn it way up to hear Kirk and than the speakers break when the stupid commercials come on. Screw you CBS and Youtube!

  • @oaklanduniversity I downloaded Firefox and the Ad-Block add on about 2 weeks ago, it seems to working pretty good, it's also pretty easy. No commercials here.

  • @clintonearlwalker You're killing the internet!

  • @Moonmaster412 Fu@K u a**hole, I know what the internet did to MY computer and MY internet explorer. I ONLY use Firefox with ad block and no-script now.

  • @oaklanduniversity You need to stop using Internet Explorer and get Firefox or Google Chrome and download the AdBlock exstension and you will never deal with youtube ads again. you can thank me later.

  • Kirk said "sabotage" weird. lol

  • Check this out: At 22:50, the Guard firing at Loki has a line of fire that continues into Mr. Sulu, yet the latter makes no move to get out of the way.

  • 4:05 "You are certain Doctor, that the pigmentation is the natural color of this individual?"

Someone with time on there hands needs to dub that on a Micheal Jackson clip LOL

  • This episode falls completely apart when Kirk lets these two jokers remain free on the ship after one of them tried to hijack it.

  • @charlesvan13 What could he do? Their personal shields prevented any assault or attack.

  • During the destruct sequence you can see that Nimoy and Doohan don't have very good teeth.

  • Why can't Kirk just lock both of them up in the brig? Jeez.

  • @flobogirl6 He tried - they both had personal shields which rendered them impervious to either hand contact or phaser fire.

  • "That's in the southern-most part of the galaxy". Just what is Kirk insinuating?

  • guess its kinda hard to be a racist on their planet

  • @naruto5665 Must have been a "mixed marrirage"

  • @naruto5665 No it isn't - it is a matter of which SIDE of their bodies are black or white.

  • damn, I'm white on the right side to : (

  • Scottie changed his hair more than Madonna

  • Star Trek: The Original just sucked your mind in. the newer trec just failed miserably. not that its bad show. just the way i fill about it.

  • @kenkem396 I agree totally, I grew up watching the re-runs of TOS all the time and my family always watched The Next Generation so I got to watch that while it was still on...The other star treks just didn't interest me in the slightest.

  • The writing of this episode is brilliant!

  • Gorshin Rules!

  • @AceOfHeart2012 I was trying to figure out where I had seen him before and then if just popped into my head...Hey it's the riddler.

  • I like how the stolen shuttle has the same number on it as the enterprise.

  • Wow, just an incredible episode; I have one problem with it, though.

@ 49:58 Seems to me that the person who typed up the credits misspelled, or was given a real crappy spelling for, Frank Gorshin's character's name.

Shouldn't it be spelled Beel, and NOT Bele?

If the name is going to be spelled Bele, shouldn't it be pronounced Be-Le?!?

HOW DO YOU GET BEEL FROM BELE?! WTF?

Somebody f*cked up! I demand StarFleet fix the f*ck up, NOW.

This deserves a Red Alert more than anything.

  • @DancingSpiderman Bele is closer than Beel. I thought it would have been Beale if anything.

  • @AmbassadorHodin There was once a famous soccer player named Pele.

The spelling "Bele" would make it sound the way Pele was pronounced.

The way they are saying the character's name, they should be spelling it Beel.

I'm not too fond of silent alpha-characters.

Especially the useless e at the end of your Beale.

That would exclude the spelling of your "Beale".

    Sorry.

  • @DancingSpiderman My last name is Beale and it is pronounced the same as Frank Gorshin's character. So like I said, it should be Beale if anything.

    Sorry.

  • @DancingSpiderman Pele sounds either Spanish or Portuguese. Pele would thus be pronounced Pay-Lay. So the spelling Bele would NOT make it sound like Pele. In addition, languages such as Spanish and Swahili pronounce every letter of the word (unlike English speakers). That is why it is so hard for people to learn English.

  • @DancingSpiderman My badd; you are correct.

  • 40:55 Uhura looks like she's thinking, "Bitch, that's MY station you're screwing up! Get outta here!"

  • Sabotaaaaaaage

  • @jawharp1992 In another esipode, Capt Shatner said Camoflaaaaage, for camoflage

  • It's the riddler!!!!

  • why didn't they send a medical team to cargo bay? It would seem that is regulations... not to mention they need a security team with them.

  • The Riddler

  • the famous black and white cookie, now in humanoid form

  • @Bestmanme08 homesexualty is not a disease. it just as possible to "cure" hays as it is straits

  • It's never ceased to amaze me how two guys could run that great, big ship that carries a crew of 429 with just 20 switches and 18 blinking lights. And we're paying 'treefitty' for a gallon of gas? Somebody's f&%king us!

  • @AceOfHeart2012 A small crew and a few lights and switchbuttons can run the ship due to Dr. Daystrom's M1 flight control computer system. That , and also humans in the 23rd-and-a-half century don't act petty anymore. No more office politics, no more backstabbing, and the people in responsible positions on board collaborate , the way people with a goal are supposed to act.

  • xDD At 11:12 it looks like they tries to make the red alert look scary.

  • In this one, you can tell Kirk is fed up with random aliens appearing on his ship and taking over using some kind of telekinesis or other powers. He's just like...That's it, I'll blow this damn ship to hell this time. Screw you guys. lol

  • @thesatchmanrules This show is a great metaphor for the Israeli /Palestinian situation.

  • @mrbrianmccarthy Or Ceylon, Northern Ireland, etc. . . . . What I want to know is why they used the name Bele for the rulers champion instead of the name Thor ? . . . . Or would doing that amount to too sensitive a topic for Norse myth lovers ?

  • Lol the black paint or whatever they used always appears to be melting or running from their body heat or something. That or they gave it like no time to dry before recording the scenes.

  • @TheTayz It's probably sweat. With body paint, even oil, it makes you feel hotter and being under the lights on stage is already a warm proposition.

+ the paint is likely oil based.

  • @uaEquals42 Sucky make-up jobs too.

  • I know it was the 60's but a being from another planet should not look human or speak perfect ENGLISH.... gotta love Star Trek!

  • Without a doubt one of the best star trek episodes ever.

  • 32:18 is around the picture on my calendar! :D

  • lmao did kirk say give each other a chance to mate? I was like dude they are both males they can't have kids! =D that just cracked me up and Spock's face was like uh captain -_-

  • This episode shows just how foolish racism is. What good is gained when people are divided. Racism slows down progress, and it brings out very harmful qualities. Pride, ignorance, hate, anxiety, and a number of other things. Those who think of themselves as superior are primitive in there thinking, and those who hate a whole group of people rather then just the oppressors, are also primitive. If a door strikes your foot, is it logical to hate all doors?

  • @tatisample1 Well, just to assume that doors have mental capablites: I do not hate all doors because one strikes my foot, I hate all doors because the other doors either justify the one door striking my foot or they just don't see a problem with it. If an opressed group hates their oppressors, it usually has to do with the fact that the majority of the oppressors do not see them as fellow human beings. The evidence of that is a GROUP of people are being oppressed by another.

  • @RRainey20 What I am reffering to is not the hating of ones oppressor but it is the hating of a group of beings or rather a race of people bec of the oppressor. To dislike a whole race bec of a person or a group of people who have oppressed you is not logical. That is what I was talking about. When I said GROUP I meant RACE of PEOPLE. All doors being Race of people, and the single door I mentioned refers to the oppressor.

  • @RRainey20 So just assuming that doors have mental capabilties: One should not assume that ALL the other doors justify the door striking ones foot. There are millions of doors. No one can possibly know what all the other doors are thinking. We are all individuals and are capable of feeling how we wish to feel. It is our right as individuals. Even in times of oppression, there have been those of the same race as the oppressors that did not agree with oppression.

  • @tatisample1 Sorry, I should have explain myself better. When a race of people, to which the oppressors belong to, either justify or don't see anything wrong with what the oppressors are doing, that is when the the oppressed hates a whole race. Those group of people may not actually be the ones who opress, but if they're not doing anything to stop it, then that is when the opperssed hates an entire race. I'm just saying that this situation is not as simple as you're trying to make it sound.

  • @RRainey20 Understandable. I am not saying its simple. Surely it is difficult to be oppressed and to watch as those who supposedly disagree with oppression appear to do nothing. But to hate a whole race is still wrong. A person cannot rid themselves of hatred overnight, but one can work on it.

  • You are so right - racism is the worst thing mankind ever invented.

  • I disagree. Race is the worst thing mankind invented.

  • This was one of my favorite titles from Star Trek. Even if it is kind of preachy, I still enjoyed the episode a lot.

  • James T. Kirk is the highest form of human life possible.

  • Why all the running? Previous episodes have shown that the turbolift could have taken them straight to the Transporter Room.

  • ???- did the black/white people's planet just change from blue to orange?

    :P

  • But the Riddler was good wasn't he?

  • Look at the shot of the shuttlecraft @ 00:55. Does the tall guy on the left look like Sulu? IMO His neck is too long.

Is that a reused shot form another episode?

  • The Shuttlecraft footage looks like it was reused from "The Galileo Seven".

  • Something I have always wondered: With atmospheric leakage on the Shuttlecraft, wouldn't it have been quicker to beam the victim aboard at once? As big as the Hanger Deck would have to be, it would take a long time to re-pressurize. Has anyone else noticed this?

  • if you look at that shuttle craft check out the numbers on it "NCC 1701/7"

    Its an Enterprise SHUTTLE!!

  • That's basically what I've said about the latest "Star Trek Movie"... all though I think it was an ok movie by itself it wasn't Star Trek... not even close to being Star Trek imo.

  • these 79 episodes are pure star trek...it all devolved backwards from there until we have nothing left to look forward to but STAR TREK 90210....metro-sexual pretty boys that are less masculine than the playboy bunnies rolling thru' space with them...

  • @czarinaofall - Yeah, I was so disappointed that the new movie didn't have space hippies, space Nazis, and space Chicago mobs. And Alice in Wonderland. And Abraham Lincoln. And a parallel earth with a Roman Empire. And another parallel earth where Kirk can manipulate a teenage girl who has a crush on him like Miri.. You know, like pure Star Trek. I mean, nobody even stole Spock's brain! Brain and brain, what is brain???

  • exactly...teeheehee!!!

  • what is with those red alert camera shots? got me dizzy haha

  • @ItsMo234 The guy playing Bele is Frank Gorshin, who played the Riddler on the campy Batman show. The director angled the camera and zoomed in and out like they did on Batman as an inside joke.

  • @bitterrick They forgot to add in the CRASH POWW!! KAZAWOOPIEE !! sound effect balloons...

  • @ItsMo234 It was a nod towards Batman (Frank Gorshin was on that show).

  • The theme of "total planetary extinction" was very common in the Original Series; it may have been Gene Rodenberry, not the politicians of the 60's, who in fact prevented WWIII.

Believe it or not, the show was so popular, it was even allowed to be aired in communist Russia.

  • and that new "spock" is SUCH a wimp compared to Nimoy!

He's an even bigger wimp than me! And I didn't think that was possible!

  • The new Spock is pretty girly for a Vulcan. And that high pitched voice compared with Nimoy's deep baritone is just awful. It's no wonder they had to create a girlfriend for him.

  • @Diceydee I have to disagree I like the old Spock but I also like the new Spock

  • I don't care what that youtube commentator said; way back when when "Star Trek (2009)" was just a movie preview, I complained that the new actors, lacked the charisma of the original cast. Even though merely television, all these actors have such a stronger onscreen pressence, so strong, that perhaps it may have been too strong for television, which may have been a contributing factor as to why the show got cancelled earlier. I'm sorry but, young Shatner seems more charismatic than new Kirk.

  • @pillsburydoughboy47 Given both actors at the same age, which one would seduce your mom better?

  • @sk9utube Leonard Nimoy would have a better chance than either Kirk, actually, because at least he has some semitic traces, but in the end my mom would have preferred an Iraqi Jew.

  • @sk9utube I've got a funny for you:

Leonard Nimoy went through a phase in the 70's where he resented being typecast as Mr. Spock. Once he shared his tale of woe with Ned Beatty over a beer. Ned listened to him patiently and without judgement until Nimoy had it all out of his system - then he said, "Well Leonard, would you like to trade?"

  • @pillsburydoughboy47 Your observation about the possibly "excessive" strength of the original series' characters and its role in the cancellation is very astute and well written.

  • @pillsburydoughboy47 well all i have to say is even though the movies not the original series, that doesnt make it bad. the original series is amazing. its kind of hard to match up too.

  • @pillsburydoughboy47

I agree, love the old show, love TNG, hated the new movie. Felt like they turned Star Trek into a movie for kids/teenagers and not for the fans. :(

  • @Outlander11 Yeah, wish there was more for the ACTUAL trekkies in the movie.

  • @pillsburydoughboy47 The original actors all had backgrounds in film and stage, requiring a stronger presence.

  • @BloodofPatriots part of what gives charisma is the ability to focus, and focus is driven by will power. Acting is a very focus driven skill, that is the reason some actors posses such magnetism.

  • @pillsburydoughboy47 : I disagree. I think that the new actors did a very good job considering the shoes they were all expected to fill. I thought the movie was well written, well-acted, and had amazing effects. The guy who played Spock, did an especially good job, and new Kirk had a lot of the same mannerisms in his interpretation of Kirk as Shatner did. They aren't the same, no, naturally because they are different people. But they still did a very good job.

  • @aangelangel189 I never said they did a bad job, I was saying they lacked the onscreen pressence of the original actors. A bit off topic but; while Nero easily beat up CADET Kirk, I think CAPTAIN Kirk would have kicked his ass. That is the cannonical Kirk who got a chance to mature first before he became Captain. In the cannonical universe, I think Kirk became Captain at 28 or 29, while the new Kirk was forced to become Captain at only 20.

  • @pillsburydoughboy47 , I think the new Kirk was 25 when the movie kicks in and he heads off to Starfleet. That'd make him about 28 when he became captain.

  • @apathi0 The actor is, but I think the character was supposed to be 20; Pike called him "the only genius level repeat offender." If Abrams was THAT serious about realism, and modeled starfleet after West Point, there is only a one year window to enroll in the military academy, past the one or two year window its not possible. They don't admit anybody over the age of 20 I don't think. I'm probably wrong though.

  • 11:12 trippy camera action xp

also isnt the im feeling tired excuse used by khan in space xept he says

    im feeling........fatiged lol

  • those self destruct codes would be easy to crack.

  • lol i remember in voy they said that warp 10 would be impossible

  • The moment that most people are looking for (I suspect) is at 35:45

  • 32:30 you hear Chekov, but when the camera goes into the room, where the hell is he???

  • Yeah?

  • the aliens dont leave much to the imagination below the belt do they? lol

  • 2:38 Spock raises an eyebrow when other men say Ahhh!

  • That's what she said!

    ...sorry, had to say that

  • uh oh....oreo. lmao

sigh* poor paintjob startrek costume team!!! at about 6:00 behind his ear i see pink skin!

oh god those were the saddest codes ever.

and at warp 10 we're goin no where mighty fast.

lol blk n white sausage fest. tooo much

  • "lol blk n white sausage fest. tooo much"

Gross. What kind of sick mind would think of that. I first saw this episode almost 15 years ago and not once have I ever imagined that.

So would you want them divided horizontally? Then that would make them like the black and white races on Earth from the waist up. Think McFly, think!

"and at warp 10 we're goin no where mighty fast."

I love that line. It cracks me up every time. I sometimes apply to car drivers.

    This episode fucking rocks!

  • Frank Gorshin. Wow! Nobody emoted better. He was sorely underrated.

  • Very good use of most of the characters during the first 2 minutes.

  • Anybody notice the shuttle craft says USS ENTERPRISE on it? It was supposed to be stolen from a Starbase, right?

  • This was the Third Season. It's budget was roughly $1.10 per episode. Curse you CBS!

  • CBS? Star Trek was NBC and was made at Paramount Studios right across the lot from where Batman and for a very short time The Green Hornet were being filmed.

  • 25:38 spock has holes under his nose!

  • Extreme view points of BLACK & WHITE (or shall I say WHITE & BLACK?)

cannot reach a rational conclusion because they do not acknowledge their similarities that coincide with their differences.

Another good lesson from Star Trek the Original Series ! ^_^

  • What the-- they just leave them there? But they'll die? WTF?

  • Dear lord, Shatner was hot!

  • so was Koenig (10:40) lord if only he were real *sighs and asks Santa for Star Trek to pleasepleaseplease be real and prays to the gods of Spirk*

  • Finally, someone who's not in love with Spock. I agree, I love Kirk too!

  • This is one of my all time Fav TOS episodes, and i really mean that, when i was about 6 years old and watching these shows whith my dad i remember this one with vividness. origonal and fun with great mesage to all. like star trek should be,

  • code 000 destruct 0,lmao.

  • not loading.

  • refresh the page, your computer's heating up, get of the tube for a while.

  • Shatner dedication in great new bio (All About Jeffrey Hunter) at amazon!

  • Where's gorgeous Yeomand Rand?

  • Great Star Trek episode, even when I watch it today. When Beil states that he is black on the right side and all of Loki's people are white on the right side and everyone listening realizes that this is the sole reason for their centuries of senseless conflict, everyone's jaws drop.

  • It is pretty great, although it might have been a little less heavy-handed if they had been orange and blue or something other than black and white.

  • warp 10 haha

  • This episode was made when the memory of WWII was still strong, but if it were made today, it would be a very different story. In this, the 21st century, the major flash point is obviously religion. In light of today's knowledge, undoubtedly the two adversaries would be spouting religious platitudes while going for each other's throats. Amazing how the big picture changes in just 40 years.

  • omg yes, exactly what i was thinking! if this episode were made today, it would indeed be centered around religion. i hate religion...it is so illogical. lol i wish i could just time travel to the 23rd century with kirk and spock. :( i wish i could....but i am hopeful for our future. "Change is the essential process of all existence.'

  • Today, Bele would be a Protestant and Lokai would be a Catholic. Or it could be one was a Sunni while the other was a Shiite. Revealed, organized religions can be so ridiculous.

  • It's part of the fabric of humanity to break up into small groups and fight each other, whether they are religious or not. Atheism can also act ridiculous as well.

Communists versus Existentialists is a classic example. Or Stalinists versus Maoists versus Trotskyites. Or Freudian versus Jungian.

It's not just confined to the believers. Just by being human, we have conflict.

  • Of course division isn't just confined to believers. But 90% of human wars have been religious. What a pity.

  • This film gave new meaning to mixed colors...

  • haha, i also thought about zetsu XD

  • Frank Gorshin is the

    coolest

    mofo

    EVER

  • "Just stop that horrible computer voice from counting down, I'll do whatever you want!"

  • There's a voyager episode where they say you can't go warp 10. And if you did, you'd be able to go to any point in the universe instantly.

  • Perhaps one of the weirdest Voyager episodes (especially the end).

    Nevertheless - enjoyable!!

  • 23:10

Good dramatic countdown from Kirk. Pretty intense despite the ridiculously simple computer sequence.

  • Beil-zebob/ Loki , both these names are used to make reference to Satan the Devil.

  • I'm probably wrong, but I believe Loki was the Norse god of trickery/deceit

  • thats true, but was also the god that led the forces of evil during ragnarok

  • You're right, but Loki wasn't actually a god, he was a Jotun that became blood-brothers with Odin.

  • Gorshin was a talented impressionist. You can tell that when his character (Beale) gets angry, Gorshin is doing a variation of his once famous Kirk Douglas impression, especially in the way he delivers tense lines through clenched teeth.

  • finaly!! i was wondering where checkov was! i watched a few earlier episodes from season three. it was like he never existed. finaly! WOO HOO!!

  • Chekov is my favorite character!!! I love him and i agree with you. I was like YAY HE'S BACK!!

  • Frank Gorshin is the name of the actor. A great stand-up comedian who was on Sullivan numerous times. This is one of my favorite episodes!

  • I loeve all this and all the episodes of this show including the continuity and technological flaws (thats part of its charm)

But is it me? or does the bird in the colegate ad look like a total slut or what? lol

  • Wow, this one was great. Really makes you think...

  • help me out trekites - is this the only 'moving' shot of the Enterprise hallways (final act chase of the duo) and/or is there anOther tracking shot that's longer? the answer wins a thank you.

  • The remakes with the digital add ons are a lot better

  • lol how much attention do they think we pay to the advertisements? i have to turn the volume almost all the way up to hear what the characters are saying, so i just hit the mute button on advertisements.

  • Ahem... anyone care to speculate why that shuttlecraft from the STARBASE said NCC 1701 on its side? (2:19)

perhaps I was just seeing things, but...

  • No, NCC-1701 was poorly Crayola'd over and "THIS SHUTTLE ISN'T FROM ENTERPRISE" was written on the back.

  • Please correct me if I'm wrong, but is the Commissioner played by the same actor who was the original Riddler in the first Batman series?

  • Yes. He also played the Riddler in the movie.

  • lmao.. 'we're going no where mighty fast, at warp 10!'

    =P

  • 2:42 first thought... zetsu?!
