The treadmill is an excellent way to lose weight through cardio, but after about a month, it honestly gets boring. So instead, I just go sprinting outside my neighboorhood which stretches those hamstring muscles and aids in agility.
The problem with walking on a treadmill is that it usually takes longer to burn the same amount of calories it would opposed to running at 7 mph. :-(
Running in the real world is better as the treadmill doesn't need the same ammount of forward force. However, it's a great place to start and a bit lower impact.
:S i dont like treadmills. when i start the running, i always get the feeling that i'm about to fall right off. that's why i prefer running in the park or something :D good video though. helped me in the gym.
