I'm one of those people who has overwhelming social anxiety, but no one believes me. Sometimes, in your scenario I'll try and redirect the conversation away from the subject. If that doesn't work I excuse myself and find a more even keeled group or individual. I look at it as a game - but if you go on the offense its important to do it with class and humor.
I had anxiety at the age of 10 but now I'm 13 I know i gained more self confidence because I speak up and act how they way I am I don't give thoughts of fear so often now but positive, which I'm proud of.Don't be afraid of expressing what you want to say and just do it because that might become a bad habit if not already is.

This video is crap! What bad advice and it doesn't help, thank you Muppets...I feel the same way too, because I was with a group of people yesterday, and it was intimidating because some loud mouth forces me to talk, and ridicules me in front of everyone and they laugh...eventhough I start a good conversation. I just get interrupted by a person that talks a lot. I don't mind if a person is extroverted and outgoing, as long as they treat shy people or quiet people with respect.

@EricSchwin22 I hear ya, but sometimes you gotto show those gregarious sorts that they aren't the only wit in the room. I'm one of those people who has overwhelming social anxiety, but no one believes me. Sometimes, in your scenario I'll try and redirect the conversation away from the subject. If that doesn't work I excuse myself and find a more even keeled group or individual. I look at it as a game - but if you go on the offense its important to do it with class and humor.

I had anxiety at the age of 10 but now I'm 13 I know i gained more self confidence because I speak up and act how they way I am I don't give thoughts of fear so often now but positive, which I'm proud of.Don't be afraid of expressing what you want to say and just do it because that might become a bad habit if not already is.

Yeah, erm totally intimidating, we know HOW to socialise but controlling our way of thinking and dealing with these fears is to have cognitive behavioural therapy or talk to a councillor who actually understands cos this a thing we cant tell any of our friends easily and feel so alone and angry-and where doctors are concerned, they are only taught to give us drugs which wont deal with it from the roots
