To understand this, you have to know that this is essentially a parody of Dave Garroway's monthly series of Sunday afternoon "cultural" specials on NBC at that time, "WIDE WIDE WORLD". Dave was also the host of NBC's "TODAY SHOW" as well...and yes, the last gag is a play on the famous "Maxwell House Coffee" slogan.
