  • The host is a spider-whisperer, lol

  • I have 3 in my room, perfect for this summer weather when there's lots of other spiders and flies coming into the house.

  • Daddy long legs dont MAKE webs, idiot.

  • @TeiganIsAmazing lol yes they do dude

  • daddy long legs are not dangerous to humans at all they aren't even poisonous they have no venom glands. and they are scavengers not hunters.

  • I once read a news article about a someone getting killed by a cellar spider. It built a web in front of a motion sensor and set off a burglar alarm. Police responding to the alarm overreacted and shot a guy who was in the building working late.

  • What that's a cellar spider

  • @reptileboy10 Haha you beat me to it.

That is not a daddy long legs. It is a cellar spider. Daddy long legs spiders have a one piece body and are also known as Harvestman. They are more scavengers than predators.

As for venom... all spiders have venom to subdue their prey, just some are a lot more potent than others. Cellar spiders are harmless to people.

  • A friend of ours used to keep a black widow in his room

  • i've seen one litterally devour a wolf spider

  • When I was little,my mom told me that these were called Daddy Long Legs, and that made me think that every Daddy Long Leg was male. And then when I got,like,9,I was like ''Wait....How do they produce??'' Later,I learned that these were female too. The End...

  • @UndeadxGothic yeah i'm 44 yrs old, always knew them as daddy long legs

  • there harmless

  • lol they call it deadly? i had lots of them in my house when i was a little boy, recently i just found one in my bathroom.

  • whats with the narrators voice

  • For some reason when i watch spider vids i feel something crawling up my back... thumbs up if you agree

  • Daddy long legs are really more poisonous then black widows. Their fangs are just so small the can't bite into a human's skin.

  • Furthermore, Opiliones do not have fangs or venom glands, so obviously they aren't poisonous.

No tests have been done to conclusively say whether cellar spiders are poisonous to humans. Such tests would be inhumane. There is no scientific research to support the myth that these spiders are the "most venomous in the world". No reports of one of these spiders biting a human with adverse affects have been made.

  • @MissVirulence how THE FUCK would it be inhumane to see if something is dangerouse, are you THAT fucking stupid?

  • Opiliones are the real Daddy long legs... and they are not technically spiders. The creatures in this video are in the Pholcidae family (cellar spiders). Opiliones differ from these spiders in that they have a non-segmented body and only two eyes (the cellar spiders have a segmented body and eight eyes), and they do NOT make webs because they cannot produce silk (cellar spiders do create webs).

  • I had three or four of these living in an apartment with me. They took care of all the wall crawler type spiders that were there when I moved in. They're great at that type of thing.

  • Harmless little critters.

  • Comment removed

  • Its a myth. They arent poisonous.

  • men these spiders are always in the toilet and watching me like he is gonne attack my ass it freaks me out specialy the big ones, and when i remove one 60 min. later there will be a other one where are they comming from dam.

  • I'm already too scared to squash them with a tissue or something.. the ones i see are small enough to go down my hoover :D

  • I always introduce spiders to the business end of my shoes.

  • I was eating cereal and one came close to me and moved it aside I <3 these spiders! But I told it to get lost and never saw it again.

  • daddy longlegs cant even penetrate human skin,so thier harmless

  • lawl isnt that a cellar spider? and ive been bit by them multiple times and it just got red and swelled.. nothing too impressive

  • i never kill this ones because they never do anything but just chill on the corner

  • I have only 6 of them in my garage.

  • I keep a daddy long legs in my room, in a corner. He keeps flies, other spiders, and other buggies out!

  • watch him die from one.

  • "VENCHA INTO THA WIEBS!"

  • daddy long legs belong to the aracnids family, aracnids are not classed as 'spider' but so called have it that daddy long legs are very venomous, but harmful to humans

  • wtf!?! being proud of having short fangs is like being proud for having a small short dick..LMFAO!!

  • No, that story is NOT true but neither is this one...what they don't wan't people to know is the neuro toxin that is the spider's blood stream because people do things like dip their arrow tips in it etc.

  • does any1 else think that spiders and octopuses probably had a common ancestor?????????????

  • Is it possible dat I saw a DLL in my back yard it was a tall spider around2 feet tall white and was moving slowly toward me

  • i killed one once by accident and i touched it and i think some of its venom got on my finger and my finger started to burn :(

  • actually there venom isn't harmless. they don't have venom glands to begin with. and there not spiders either. there arthropods, and believe it or not, not spiders.

  • those arent daddy long legs..

  • @mrtalkative91 there are more than one type of species of daddy longlegs.

  • WOWIE ZOWIE

  • Daddy LongLegs aren't spiders there different typs of aracnids

  • Those aren't Daddy long legs lol Daddy Long legs have a round body.

  • Daddy long legs = God of all Spiders.

  • In my country I describe Daddy Longlegs as seeds with legs. Lol

  • Aren't what we normally call daddy long legs not eve spiders at all?

  • oh my god girlfriend the way you talk I wanna spread mine

  • their proud that they have small :p

  • what about the daddy long legs with wings??

  • @thecsslife just big ass mosquitos

  • Daddy Long Legs In the USA Look totally different than what they show here. and I've grown up being told that Yes they are poisonous but it's difficult for them to bite humans because the can't reach far enough down to bite you, but if you or someone held on down on your skin they can bite you!!!

  • Daddy Long Legs are the only spiders I don't care about, in fact I like have them around.

Black Widows on the other hand, I like to kill slowly.

  • dude, that disgusting q:

  • spiderbro

  • Daddy long legs...were in my bathroom i killed it with a shoe... :D and p.s they scare me cuz long legs but tiny bodies

  • Fucking Kill it! Dont Observe that shit.

  • They're not even spiders.

  • I SEEN THESE IN MY HOUSE THEY DONT EVEN BITE ME

    I JUST KILL THEM

  • Yeah, those are not Daddy Longlegs but cellarspiders. Usually an arachnid Harvestman is called Daddy Longlegs. Then again, two arachnids and one insect are often referred to as Daddy Longlegs so that name is misleading. Cellarspider is not venomous to humans and neither is the Harvestman that does not even have venom or fangs, as they are not spiders, just belong to the same family with spiders (arachnids)......

  • @djshangfu Do they kill people?

  • @1990babyface Nope, no spider in the world kills people. Self-defence bites MAY lead to death in extreme cases (very young or old victim, multiple bites, some disease that compromises the immunal system, allergy) but those are rare. For example, since 1980 when A. Robustus antivenom was developed, there has been no fatalities concerning sydney funnelweb. Still, only 8% cases reported have required antivenom so spiders are pretty much harmless. No need to worry ^^

  • @djshangfu A Brown Recrus Spider bit a woman & damaged her body inside real bad. SHe had to go to the hospital. And this man in Austrailia almost died from a Funnel Web Spider.

  • @1990babyface Well, Brown Recluse bites can produce very nasty surface damage sometimes, but damaging inside? Impossible, unless there was something wrong with her immunal system or she didnt take care of the blistered bite mark properly, resulting in a bacterial infection. And yeah, _ALMOST_ died from a sydney funnelweb. Yes, they can make nasty bites and their venom is potent, but like i said, there hasnt been any deaths since antivenom was invented in the eighties.....

  • @djshangfu What about white tailed & jumping spiders?

  • @1990babyface There are no known jumping spiders that are harmful to humans, apart from an extremely rare bites that resemble common mosquito bites (even though certain email hoax claims otherwise). White Tails were considered harmful to humans once without any scientific data to back it up (necrotic bites), but, this was proven false. These days white tails, thanks to research, have been almost certainly proven harmless to humans, but still, better to play safe and leave them in peace....

  • @1990babyface The "deadliest" spider known atm is Black Widow/Red Back, not because of the strength of bite, but because they are easy to meet and get bitten accidentally, hence most fatalities. But no spider wants to bite humans, as they need venom to hunt, so it's a waste to spend it on us. Therefore spiders only bite if you seriously threaten them and they have no chance to escape. Phoneutria and horny male funnelwebs might be a rare exception, but, overall SPIDERS ARE HARMLESS TO HUMANS :)

  • @djshangfu Are you sure it was the 80's because that was'nt very long ago. Venum has been around longer than just the 80's. and yes brown recluse bites do eat away flesh and looks like it is rottening. I am immune from that thank God.

  • @CodyWestLovesOlivia Well, antivenom for Atrax Robustus (atraxotoxin or something) was developed in the eighties, but each venom demands different type of antivenom, at least in most cases. Then again, one major propblem with venoms is not the venom itself but allergic reactions, and those are all treated with same Antihistamines. And i bet there are also common drugs for all types of venom/poison cases that are commonly used, i was referring to specialized antivenom.

  • @CodyWestLovesOlivia And about Brown Recluses. Well, the bites exactly don't eat away flesh or rot, in more extreme cases it makes the bloodcells and skincells swell up and rupture around the bite, leaving a very nasty oozing wound resembling a crater or volcano, but it heals completely in about a month, unless you get it infected, which causes the rotting and serious skin damage, not the bite itself. But still, better to stay clear from brown recluses if they habit the area you live in.

  • @djshangfu dude tht is not a cellar spider and yes cellar spiders do hav venom its juss not harmfull 2 humans and cellar spiders dont hav a whole bunch of markings on their baks now b4 yu start arguin wit me abt this do tha research..

  • @V3NoMxDaPoiiZ0N About cellar spider venom: Yeah, that's what i said, not venomous to humans. And yeah, that spider could be something else than a cellar spider, as these creatures are insanely hard to identify. But, it sure looks like a Pholcidae species (Cellar Spider). Markings on the legs match, and torso is shaped differently than on Opilliones (Harvestmen).

  • @djshangfu Too bad could not post links to wikipedia for some reason, but check out Cellar spider and Opiliones from there. The difference is pretty clear. Then again, that spider could be entirely something different, just very similar to cellar spider. The markings on legs and back (yeah, they do have back markings depending on the subspecies) just are a pretty good hint towards cellar spider identification.

  • @djshangfu yea i juss lookd up all 3 juss 2 make sure.. the huntsman furry sorta like a turantula super fast and r usually found n ppls cars or houses.. i dont think they spin webs they rely on there speed.. the cellar doesnt really hav markings on its bak at all and r sorta transparent with longer legs than the daddy long legs and this is tha daddy long legs

  • @djshangfu & i saw yu said tht the venom wasnt harmful 2 humans so idk y i thought yu said they ddnt sorri :)

  • Harvestman is the type of spider like insect I was referring to.

  • these ARENT daddy long legs. I am in pest control and these are called CELLAR spiders. Daddy long legs have a big round single body segment and I still wonder if they are really poisonous. Even Mythbusters used these instead of daddy long legs. Somebody let them know. Just thought Id let you know.

  • Loved playing with them and having them in my home. I have a male and female now that there are white tails and redbacks around since moving further away from the city. Scary but i rather have daddy long legs than any other nasty spider in my home.

  • WTF these things are nice FTW -FOR THE WIN GO DADDY LONG LEGGYS this was like my first spider friend there freaking friendly and when u want them to go away they do so creeper but they catch mosiqutos for me :) and i kept one in a cage and had babies theres a ton dancing everyday and let them out free

  • lol i cant believe this but thank you daddy long legs for killing red backs in my house ( im in australia we have loads of red backs ) btw i have arachnophobia so... freak u spider for being a spider

  • these spiders dont really scare me.

  • I use to kill these all the time till i found out they kill black widows. Now I gladly put these up on my window seal

  • Not the Huntsman! I like them.

  • @FullOfFail if you see a black widow or the brown bitch spider i suggest you just shoot it with a Desert Eagle or an M16 :)

  • @ROCKBASS36 im scared of spiders too, ever since i was in 4th grade and was on the floor laying down watching wwe raw then something that felt like a hair was on my face so i kinda hit it then it was on my arm and it was a BLACK WIDOW! Luckily it didnt bite me but i was actually crying a little bit but thats wat i get for wearing a black sweater o and im in middle school now and im still terrified.

  • I have a fear of spiders I don't remember what it's called but I did learn it in school today if I anyone finds anything u don't recognize I recommend u either chase it till u kill the bitch or if ur afraid try throwing something at it. Hey! It works for me

  • @ROCKBASS36 arachnophobia

  • To fulloffail fuck no if I see any spider even a slight bigger than a daddy long legs I kill the bastards I usually find these fuckers behind me toilet when I'm pooping and that there my friend is not comfortable for meh

  • You people that kill spiders are wrong. The majority of them are completely harmless. I usually just let them outside. Sometimes I just let them stay inside, they kill all the real pests. However, if you run across a brown-recluse, or black widow... I wouldn't even recommend you go any where near it. Don't even try to kill it, get the hell out of dodge.

  • I feel like a bunch of spiders are crawling up my shirt and i dont want to find out

  • YUCK! The most ugly spider ever

  • Once me and my mom were getting ready for the morning and we went in the bathroom to brush our teeth and I looked up and saw a daddy long leg on the corner of the ceiling

  • @cantbackdown123 and...

  • A spider on a wall : Wtf are you doing here?

A daddy long legs on a wall : HOLY NIGGER SHIT OH MY GOD BURN IT KILL IT JESUS

  • bull shit ive seen a huntsmen own a daddy long legs last night

  • man i see these every where in my house i hate it, where are they comming from?

  • I love daddy long legs!

  • I was never scared of Daddy Long Legs lol

    and killing other spiders FTW!

  • There the Chinese people of the spider world they cant hurt girls cause there fangs are to small.

  • In my house they're in the shower and mostly in the bathroom's and stuff and im not in the uk O_o

  • @Bessie12347 Well the good thing is,they really don't want to hurt you.The bad news is, *Infestation!*

  • @DefenceDon lol yea!

  • i smashed on of this spiders to the wall in the toilet when taking a shit. It was SO huge.. never seen a spider that big before! When i smashed it one of the leg was still hanging on the wall but the rest of the spider fell on the floor. But! the leg that was on the wall moved for like one week after i killed the spider! It was so nasty just hanging there swinging from side to side... i actually filmed it a little bit. How can this be? a spider leg moving a week after i killed the spider? alien?

  • I love how australian voice overs always make everything like an adventure.

*whisper* that venture into their webs! *whisper*

  • how the hell does that thing "dine on huntsman"???

  • spider killer kool :)

  • i dnt like daddy long legs i itch myself yuck :(

  • These to me are the most useful little spiders. They get rid of other spiders and other bugs.

  • there just saying that >_>

  • I always liked these. I used to let them crawl over my hands when I was a kid. :) They naturally eat and keep away other bugs that would ruin plants and crops. They are good little arachnids. :)

  • when i was a kid i used to love taring of their legs and throwing them back into the webs... another daddy long leg would eat it lol

  • @kennithherrick Awwww. :( LOL

  • Those are the most common spiders in the Philippines. Jumping spiders are next

  • I live in HK and when i go school camping, ive found hundreds of these and they said this was much more powerful than the spiders in AFRICA???

  • @Fwanco they dnt bite, theyre everywhere in the Philippines, I encounter them while showering all the time

  • I was bitten by a baby one, smaller than a centimeter. They say fangs are too small but don't believe them! : P it was like a mosqueito bite.

  • Daddy longlegs can is a name that has been given to three creatures.

One is an insect that is known as the crane fly. The other two which are arachnids, but one is an actual spider that is called a cellar spider. The cellar spider to which this video is referring to is sometimes called the daddy longlegs. It just depends on where you are at. In North American the daddy longlegs have given to the harvestman which is an arachnid, but not a true spider. It has no venom or poison.

  • These little things kill those big spiders? Wow.

  • I use to love these little guys until my friend said that there the most poisonous spider.

  • @nogaregag Well your friend is an idiot that talks a lot of shit then.

  • There was spider like this in my basment. I killed it but when I a removed the magazine I killed it with..I couldn't find it..

  • I let a family of them reside in my outback toilet, saves me from getting bit by redback's or other highly dangerous spiders since the daddly long legs family always kills them off.

  • these things look so fragile...

  • @rafaviciado1777 That's because they are. ;)

  • every night there is one of these above me in my room... after i found out they are the most deadly in the world, i kill the little bastards

  • @iBumUrMum96

    Deadly to other spiders.

  • @nicolevins thankfucking god, im still gonna kill 'em

  • @iBumUrMum96 You're likely going to have a lot more of the bad types around if you kill all the good ones, such as the daddy long legs.

  • @AmyLeesPetWookiee i live in england, so there isnt any bads ones here really....

  • @iBumUrMum96 They're not the deadliest in the world, they are not even harmful to humans. Listen to the WHOLE video. LOL

  • @tall32guy i know, i was inormed, i said i was still gonna kill 'em because they ren't exactly great company when ur sleeping......

  • so where is judy abbott?

  • Awwwww why did I squish like 20 of them?

  • Wait, from what I read contridicts this claim that a Daddy Long legs is a spider.

Unless it is referencing to something else that I misplaced.

  • @SamPD2

Well, lessee...it has two appendages and 8 legs so...I would believe it is a spider (arachnid). o.O

What did you read about it?

  • @SamPD2 there are a few differen't things all refered to as "Daddy long legs" The one in this video is a Spider.

The one you're thinking of is a Harvestman, which people confuse with this.

  • @noobrider100 Alright, thanks for the input mate.

  • i set up my male daddy long legs with my female tode:) in 5 hours i mada new breed!!!!!!!!!

  • i usedto pickthem up by the legs and throw them over my neighbours fence because i used to hate my neighbours

  • Fangs too small my ass, I got bit by these like 5 times when i was little.

  • people use the term "daddy long legs" for 3 insect/arthropods/thingies harvestmen, which have one big fat body and 8 legs

cellar spiders, which are these, note how they have 2 body parts, the front and the big fat ass? also they create webs, and they DON'T live in close swarming groups

    and craneflies/mosquito-hawks

all 3 have long legs, small bodies, wings? cranefly, no wings? 1 body segment? harvestman, no wings, 2 segments (optional is on a web), cellar spider

    they keep me safe :P

  • i used to get these spiders all the time in Georgia haha

i used to pick them up and play arond with them and them go.

  • let me recall that they arent real spiders depening on reasons

  • @SourCum You're confusing these with Harvestman.

  • av just caught 1 of these in my shower. 1st one iv seen. let it go in the garden. Supposed to be common in the uk tho.

  • @scunnym let it go they protect u from EVIL spiders

  • @scunnym THey are common in UK, ive seen 3, 1 in my bathtub, 1 in my mums room that flied around, and 1 in the living room which it flied around...

  • @kieran2735 If it can fly its called a mosquito hawk.

  • @DethAlien funny that ppl call em mosquito hawks( the crane fly that ur referring too)cuz crane flies dont actually eat mosquitos.

  • @scunnym they are common everywhere actually. Lucky the venom is harmless to us!

  • @scunnym We have billions of them in Spain.

  • Oh what do ya know! I see a daddy long legs right now not really doing well... anything but walking around on my desk.

  • That was not even a daddy long legs! Well it is long but seriously that is not a daddy long legs.

  • technically they are the most poisonous spider on earth but their mouths arent big enough to inject enough venom in a single bite

  • @SubjectDelta86 no man i thought it to but mythbusters even proved it they can bite and its like a bee sting at worst

  • @lexisnice1 yah man i know what ya mean ive seen em in webs to :D

  • they are harmless brcause ive seen 1 and my uncle got bit bye 1. and he didnt die or get infected

  • ive seen a long leg, creep up on a black widow. it was weird, it slowly lowered itself ontop the widow. and did something, cuz the widow started to FLIP OUT MAN!!!! and the long legs ate it. the next day the widow was dead on the floor below the long legs web

  • theyre legs scared my the most i like the fatter leged ones not the hair-like onese i heard there really poisonous but they cant bite there mouth is too soft

  • Honestly, that's the only spider I ever liked.

  • @xXKhaoticRinoXx same here but i take his legs of first cuz they are scary fucks

  • @xXKhaoticRinoXx me too, i have some on the corners of my roof, and i leave them there because i live in australia and australia have some freaky spiders, but my daddylong legs make me feel safe.....

  • @horizonshine129 You are very poorly informed. The best proof of that fact is your use of the word "poisonous", which is completely inaccurate.

  • @horizonshine129 Did you even watch the video? The are NOT the most significantly venomous spider. Depending on where you live, that title belongs to the black widow, Sydney funnel web, or Brazilian wandering spider.

  • These fucking things are killing all the spiders in Ireland!!! they were never around years ago.... now there flucking everywhere!!! and guess what??? there are fuck all other spiders around!!

  • @DJJimCowley shit man, that's freaking crazy! though personally I'm glad to have them around because I'd much rather have them around then some of the more venomous spiders

I even have a little one as a friend I call Insy next to me PC and I feed it live flies whenever I can catch em :P

  • Daddy Long Legs (at least in America) do not have webs. I'm also pretty sure that those are not Daddy Long Legs. They look more like "Cellar Dwellers."

  • Ok I have been a bit of a boring sod for the past 30 minutes and just watched a daddy long legs, just sat there and watched.

I have a few observations and one question.

    Observations.

They can't grip too well so they get about by casting lines to climb on

They use thier front two legs in circular motions to locate threads

    They eat other spiders

They apear to lick thier legs every now and then

My question is, Why do they keep licking thier legs, are they sore or is thier saliva sticky.

  • @fredb3 The grooming is to clean the tiny "hair"-like parts of the spider's sensory system. Any dirt or debris stuck to the spider will hinder it's ability to detect movement.

  • @asininegenius

    Thanks xD

  • A daddy long legs is not a spider... -_-

  • @youtabeer how is it NOT a spider?

  • @StreakyTheFurry

    Sigh.

You obviously don't know that looks are not everything.
