  • the biggest rave in brtish history

  • Why is one of the scousers on bass?

  • Love Quo, cannot wait to be able to take my little girls to see them. Just like my dad took me and my bro.

  • John Fogerty should have come up and did a line - Its his song, after all!

  • Apparently they have no memory of it whatsoever... as they were all pissed.

  • Yeah they were good then...

But I wish they would just fuck off now.

  • @Kevster1993 u should fuck off u prick

  • @mrswindon3 Touched a nerve? Bless...

  • ehm charming and very young with a lot of energy

  • Wish my kids this

  • ehm I just wanna have fun with you

  • hiya Im your ANYTHINGGIRL. i am new, ask me i give you what you want

  • they can always get the Brits goin, they never toured here in the states, that I know of but I love them I used to get their import albums :)

  • Posted July 13 - nice!:-)

  • that's how music used to be once a time!why god i was born i the wrong generation?!WHYYYYY?????

  • @valaora13 because you're a Twat

  • Status quo is tje best band ever

  • @Joshuaovfitzy your spot on. they have to hide behind these technologies which is incredibly poor show. shows how much technology is ruining the music industry!

  • At a time when British music could be quite tribal Quo were perfect opening act, I remember the day so well, saw start at work on watched all day once off duty.

  • this song is the best metaphor for what live aid was all about

  • There is an asassin at 0:55 abouve them :)

  • Bob Geldof was skint till live aid........... you do the maths

  • @orriblebob stupid comment

  • @couchhugger I suggest you read Midge Ure's book "If I was".

Geldof could not even afford to buy a new set of strings for his Guitar.

When Midge wrote "do they know it's Christmas" on it, it only had 5 strings

All Geldof wrote was the first line of verse 1 and the first line of the chorus.

Midge wrote the rest, and Geldof blagged all the fame.

2 years after live aid Geldof was a multi millionaire.

It wasn't through his musical talent................... You do the maths my friend.

  • @orriblebob One good thing that Geldof did was invite decent bands though, got to give him that. Could have been crap but you can't argue with a line up like The Who, Dire Straits, Queen, U2, Sting, Black Sabbath, Paul McCartney etc. It was like Woodstock for the 80's as far as quality of line up goes. But I agree with your comment about it being unfair on Midge

  • @cammalcolm Absolutely! it was a wonderful day, full of wonderful music. I don't think it could ever happen again because big business now runs the music industry, and they would not see it as being "profitable".

    Thanks for your comment.

  • My bro is in the front of that crowd somewhere. I was out on chianti soz :)

  • two thing came out of this concert

    rock

    and more awesome rock XD!!!

  • @slipknot117100 Don't forget help to the starving people in Africa.

  • @Wolfgangvanhalen1

    that to

  • And Live Aid started.......what an opening act. It got better and better. Only Brian Ferry sucked.

  • @donkeyboy27 And Simon Le Bon too. ;)

  • yeah that´s it, i like it, too ;-}}

  • yeah that´s it, i like it, too ;-}}

  • HÄRLIGT............I LOVE STATUS...........är född 63, har många skivor med dem.....still going strong!! <3<3<3

  • Should never have chopped off the ponytail, same goes for marti pellow

  • HELLO YOU ALRIGHT? YOU ALLRIGHT? What an opener :)

  • Live Aid... The Best Gig Ever... (With Queen, the best Band Ever!)

  • That was the thinest guitar sound Ive ever heard from Quo!

  • The BEST of The BEST...How could you kick off any better than the MIGHTY QUO!!!!!

  • The BEST of The BEST...

  • 25 years on and still rocking the place yet.Must have something,eh?

  • Just another reason to be a John C. Fogerty Fan.

Great Cover by Status Quo :-))

  • Just another reason to be a John C. Fogerty Fan.

Great Cover by Status Quo :-))

  • I would have gone home after that, because there is no way I could have got any better!!!

  • @brownloaf Queen were the best performance though I like Status Quo but even they say it

  • @brownloaf That means ur stupid.

  • Parfitt was great.

  • and if bob geldoff had been a realist none of this would of happened

  • The song and the moment...

    Which DEFINED A GENERATION!!!

  • over 90,000 bobin' bodies at once !!!! great opening from this concert

  • I listened to this song on Kiss 108 that fateful morning in 1985! It was a great experience sharing the day with the world!

  • Does the world ever get fed from these charity events? No. We all know that.

  • So....did the world ever get fed?

  • who opened the philadelphia Live Aid concert?

  • @ClaptonBoy99 i believe actualy run dmc was the warm up act but not appered on tv or dvd the fist person 2 play in usa was bryan adams on the dvd

  • The Mighty Quo were the only band on the planet that could have opened such an event, they had the energy to get the crowd going without the egos in wanting to be headliners and were not over awwed with the whole thing. Still great live today

  • @mavy71 plus they turned up at Wembley with a huge bag of cocaine!! No wonder they were buzzing!

  • @mavy71 there is a slight issue in that they are shit

  • rock on quo!!!!

  • Now this is going back a bit, but i think it was the best days viewing Ive ever had on TV!!!!! and thats 25 years on!!

  • I watched the entire thing from start to finish. I was 17 at the time and this brings back precious memories of long ago !

  • THIS was the ideal band to kickstart Live Aid '85. Either the ' Quo - or ELO, when Mr Jeff Lynne was still at the helm. Goodness, the latter had just as much talent !!

  • The best showcase of 70s and 80s talent ever, give a dvd copy to todays generation and they will thank you.

  • Never heard the version quite so slow, but at least they can be there longer :) Nothing can beat Quo!

  • they are the best! :)

  • FANTASTIC!!!!!!

  • nice to see someone agrees with me lol.

  • I remember being there - well if you take the mushrooms into account....

  • The old rock and roll bands were just in a totally different league to the modern bands of today. Status Quo, Queen, the Stones, the Who; they would blow Dizzie rascal and all those tone deaf muppets into the middle of next week. LONG LIVE ROCK AND ROLL! AND REAL MUSIC!

  • @Pugsleyrulz You're not wrong. I was lucky enough to see Quo in Brisbane Australia in 1977. Great live band that blew the audience away!

  • @Pugsleyrulz Oh give up. I have great respect for music of the past, but lets not condemn modern musicians for pursuing new paths and innovating. Im pretty sure youd fine a lot of the artists you named have a great deal of respect for the likes of Dizzee Rascal. He is an artist who has captivated millions of music lovers and has helped bring, what was, a very underground type of music into the mainstream.

  • @binstig thats your opinion. that was mine. so put away your verbal handbag

  • para quem não sabe o porquê do dia do rock ser hoje!

  • hw sad we dont get those days of real ROCK n ROLL now

  • I remember this like it was yesterday :-) can't believe it's 25 years today

  • First time I had ever heard, or seen Status Quo was when I was watching Live Aid on TV...they blew me away!

  • Live AId: I remember when I watched that live. One of rock's first global benefit TV events that unified the world in a simultaneous humanitarian effort. It was and is beautiful. "I like it, I like it!"

  • wish i was there! but i was in my mummy's tummy!

  • i like it i like it like it i like it i lallallaal like it

  • sweat bands, teles and porno tashes. this is rock n roll :D seeing these live in december in sheffield get in my son!

  • good ol days, were do they goooooooooooooooooooooo

  • paul weller too

  • what a band ! ilove them !

  • One of the brightest moments of the human history. I was proud and happy on that hot summer day of 1985.

  • when your seen this group live you appreciate great music

  • FUCKIN PACKED

  • No concert will ever match Live Aid.

  • @grad1990

They can try but NOTHING can emulate the original. They've tried it with the original Band Aid.

  • @grad1990 Queen Live at Wembley '86 comes pretty close doesn't it? :D

  • I was there. Hated them before the concert but they were awesome

  • Great version but it´s far as good as the original by John Fogerty! SQ´s singer can´t reach the voice of John, as this video proves.

  • No agreed but John Fogerty wasnt there in 1985

  • Lol john fogerty made this song but SQ made it famous!

  • HAHAHAHAHA!! All you twats posting deep and meaningful things about the Quo!! lolol do you think for 1 second you mean anything to Francis or Rick?? They found what they were best at and simply kept doing it!!! exactly the same as fuckin Einstein!!

  • @billyconnearly Spot on bonny lad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ tomodude6542 - HAHA!

  • Comment removed

  • Just another one of many, many reasons I'm so proud to be British...

  • @paully1969 I'm not British but lived in England all my life and you bet I love Live Aid.

  • @Knister93

Yes, you've got a proud history there - so many great rock bands....errrrrrrrr

  • @jasminesmithphoto Die Toten Hosen are much better than Status Quo... But I never said that Germany has many great rock Bands dann GB!! I like a few British bands like Queen, LZ, Sex Pistols... but Status Quo not

  • @paully1969 I'm swedish, but I have to agree with you, it's much more nicer to be british, all good music has been made in the UK!!

  • @TheMacciz this isnt a good example of good british music though. this is an embarrasment.

  • @unchie979 perhaps it's not fantastic, but it's still a anthem, in the 70's even the bad songs were good.

  • @unchie979

That's because it was written by a guy from California (John Fogerty)

  • Rossi is so off his face but brilliant at the same time! And what a great crowd!

  • Ego's even here with the Bass Player ?

  • This was a beginning for the history concert of the 80' !The times will never comes ! Thanks of this!

  • Listen to the reality of hand played/made and tuned instruments...rock on fellas and still keeping it real 25 years on.

  • fan - tast- ic --- remember it so well!

  • I wasn't alive in 85 where Quo the opening act, cause this would have beena great opening song if they where.

  • @impentor yes, this was the very first song of the whole festival

  • @impentor , it WAS the opener to Live Aid.

  • saw them live a few days or so ago, and have to admit they were loads better than this, getting better with age methinks.

  • You are right i think they are better from 1990 and up then here :)

  • amazing , i love this ! :)

  • and Queen original band including RIP Freddie would blow Coldplay outta water :)

  • @spowieuk, Cold who?

  • @spowieuk Amen to that!!

  • I remember watching this live on tv great memories a great day of music I remember.

  • I watched this "live" on TV in 1985. After the huge build up to Live Aid it was just incredible to have this finally launch the big day. I just burst into tears that it was actually happening. This was the Woodstock for my generation.

  • The Quo, Chris Martin, all in one sentence. Nope, that don't work. A bit like mentioning idiot Robbie Williams and TRUE legend Freddie Mercury in one breath. Get your priority straight,

BREN70S. Coldplay try to emulate U2, which would piss on Mr Martin.

  • Grafters...QUO rock...nice duders and good guys!!Love em...great post!

  • it sucks that they wernt asked back for live 8 ,at least chris martin had the decency to give them a little tribute , go on the quo !!!!

  • 1:34 is the best bit

  • Awesome :)

  • Too bad these cats never caught on in the states.Record clowns never understood. Look at these bloody limeys in the crowd(no dispespect). They know. I hail them. They're one of the greatest. SNAKE ROCK

  • lol what about us limeys- you just looks at these bloody limeys in the crowd- how can you mean disrespect when you are just looking at us

  • Actually the front of the crowd was largely made up of French, Irish, and Scottish people who had travelled overnight and were at the front of the queue when the gates opened

  • All lovely folks. The Yanks over here in the States, mostly didn't have a fookin' clue.

The folks in Europe know what real rock n' Roll is. The wankers over here simply love, "CABARET"...Ssssssssssssss

  • According to the Quo Autobiography, Francis had gone through half a bottle of Tequila and a gram of coke that day before hitting the stage. Still, not a bad 'ol performance!

  • go on the quo!

  • this is great songs

  • Tarquin FinTim Lim Bim Bus Stop FTarr Ftarr Olay Biscuit Barrel

  • Parfitt also said he was a big fan of Rick Allen from Def Leppard and that maybe I should cut off both my arms and ram them up my arse to achieve a similar sound. I never took him up on that and subsequently left to form Heritage Biscuit Barrel.

  • brunts59 your stewped lier

  • 24th Anniversary of Live Aid today!!

The Quo opened the day with this!

  • When I was drumming with the 'Qou tang gang I used my real name. So you won't find me on Wikipedia or Google.

Fact - "Sting" is not Sting's real name, his birth name lacked that showbiz pizazz needed for stardom.

Fact - well so did mine.

My stage name is "Cheese Sandwich" (try googlin' that) and my new band Heritage Biscuit Barrell have just released our 10th studio album " Biscuits For Cheese". Check it out.

  • who the fuck are you!?

  • No it really is me!! I toured with them until late '86 then I was sacked for commiting terrible atrocity. ...Labi Siffre's bass player, John, mentioned to me once that in an interview that he said he liked Maltesers and, at his next gig, he was bombarded with Maltesers!! Well, I happen to let slip to the NME that Francis Rossi was a shit and daggers man. That was that for me...

  • Thats one hell of a story. If (big if) it is you, then thats awesome, and possibly one of the coolest things that could happen to you. But, it is hard to believe, y'know that?

  • lol hes pissed at the camera guy at 4:13 :D

  • cant blame him-he was shoving the camera virtually onto his guitar! lol

  • If I ever become a cameraman, I have got to do that just to piss someone off xD

Amazing, like a "Fack off, cant you see im playing mah guitar!?" xD

  • first band on stage at wembley correct?

  • these guys was ace at Glastonbury

  • I was working backstage at Live Aid and just before The 'Quo were due on stage I nipped to thebog for a jimmy and this note come under the door saying "can you play the drums?" There was Rossi calm as a cucumber holding two sticks going "the drummer's had to go home early because he's getting a fridge freezer delivered. Can you play the drums?" and before you know it I'm up there drumming away. Parfitt kept looking round going "do you like my shirt? not too over the top is it?"

  • so your in this video - the drummer?

  • Yeah right ... gig of the lifetime ... and the drummer gets a fridge delivered ... I buy a lot ... :-)

  • Not just any old fridge freezer. It was free standing, frost free and energy efficient! well worth missing Live Aid for!! We all piled round his later on with Brian Ferry and Fish to see his ice box.

  • a lying idiot ,that's what [brunts59]

  • How can I be a liar? were you there? were you backstage with Adam and the Ants after the gig making a chicken and mushroom pot noodle? were you there when Ant asked me if I would be interested in joining his new supergroup "Gentleman's Lavatory" all Guitars like Quo but my drum kit would give way to electronic drum pads and beat machines strapped to my head that Ant would punch in time to the music. I refused but Fergal Sharkey got the job. were you there? no. thought not

  • was this in woodstock?

  • I guess, they played at Wembley

  • you fool, it says wembly stadium at the beginning - 00:06

  • BRILLIANT!

  • My Top 5: Queen, Bryan Adams, Status Quo, U2, Madonna

  • number.1!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • u gotta agree,, england fuckin stole that day, gave a proper show end of..i was only about 5,,,sort of remember me mum tryin 2 tape most of it on vhs,a fuckin feat in those days, lol, how easy have we got it now days 2 record stuff

  • Organised by an Irish man!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i'm seeing them tonight =)

  • die gruppe ist einfach genial

  • Dire Straits, Queen, Status Quo, Erythmics, etc! etc! etc! Philly you only had second rate performers, with the exception of Eric Clapton, Phil Collins and Mick Jagger. When it comes to music Brits rule the world.

  • Thank you

  • aint it strange? a band I dont even like has one of my favourite songs

  • Status Quo- 'The fish & chips of British rock'

  • oh yeah and LEd Zeppelin

  • kenny loggins, simple minds, duran duran, george thoroughgood, Run Dmc, Billy Ocean, Reo speedwagon, Doc Rock, Patti Labelle, and Lionel Ritchie

  • the cars, santana, neil young, bo diddly

  • Bryan adams, Crosby stils and nash, the pretenders, beach boys, etc..

  • the philly line up was so much better with black sabbath, judas priest, clapton, phil collins, tom petty, madonna, the hooters, four tops, temptations, hall and oates, power station, Dylan

  • There were over 72,000 at Wembley that day - and Rossi looks and sounds like he's been sniffing some 'white powder'.

    Still a great performance though.

  • RENT A CROWD
