  • God Bless Christopher Reeve, he will always and forever be known as Superman, R.I.P.

and Margot Kidder still has that sexy voice

  • I miss him too Stefanofan27, I miss him too

  • say gym thats a bad quality wow

  • Gotta love this classic stuff. So long ago but damn good to see it still.

RIP! Christopher Reeve, The one and only Superman, in my opinion.

  • one person voted down is Lex Luthor's evil son

  • Do you know how good this is? Now go check your cable or DirecTV and think about what you're paying for.

  • @dolphinbuc yeah, no shit!

  • This is the bomb. Almost brings tears to my eyes.

  • @silverzhawk Amen.

  • @silverzhawk YES IT DOES . I MISS THE 80S SO MUCH. TODAY SUCKS.

  • @ming746 true that!

  • @silverzhawk Was this the same time that there was Fox Night at the movies?

  • Superman the 1st Sequal was the best, and Superman II was a close 2nd, the 4th one was OK, but the 3rd Sequal was the worst

God Bless Christopher Reeve on his magnificent performance, he is a REAL Superman, R.I.P. Christopher Reeve and Marlon Brando and it's hard to believe that Margot Kidder was 30 years old when she started playing Lois Lane and she looked beautiful and she still has that same sexy voice, too and Reeve was just 26 @ the time he played Superman.

  • Awesome!!! Brings back some great memories!! Good job!

  • r.i.p christopher reeve.

  • Nobody could intoduce a movie better. Ever time I heard his him as a kid I knew something special was coming on. Probally the greatest voice announcer ever on television. Great memories.

  • He and Danny Dark, tied.

  • Ernie Anderson was maybe the best announcer of his time. His ungrateful son is the director Paul Thomas Anderson ("Boogie Nights," "Magnolia"), who was not in contact with his father in his latter years. Ernie Anderson died at age 73 in 1997.

  • the memories of my childhood.

  • Man, Ernie Anderson really could talk a flick up, couldn't he? *lol* You know, the thing about it, I PROBABLY was watching this broacast!

  • I remember seeing as a kid.

  • The announcer's voice is fantastic. I think this was ABC's best movie introduction. The music, visuals, and announcer were all great. The networks should try introductions like this again.

  • @greenwind777

Big Thumb's up for you sir.

  • Thanks for finally revealing the voice for these great ABC trailers.

  • As I aspire to be an entertainer, I'll always know Ernie Anderson's voice. I've always wanted to have him call my name, because then I would have known that I've made it. Rest in Peace my friend who never knew me Ernie Anderson.

  • thats a wonderful story for inspiration.

  • I remember that it broke in two parts but this showing was from December 1985, not the one that broke in two parts. That one was shown in early 80's, like 1981 or 1982. I used to have this on VHS and watched it all the time.

  • I vividly remember the network TV premier of Superman on ABC as a kid. I was about 14 years old at the time. Everyone talked about it the previous Friday in school, and I couldn't wait until Sunday night. Also, I seem to remember ABC showing this in two parts, the second part concluding the following Monday night. The first part ended with Lois falling from the helicopter and abruptly ending with "To Be Continued."

  • Out of curiosity, I wonder why ABC would do that?

  • Longer movie=More commercials. More commercials=More advertising dollars. And if you can stretch out a premiere over two days, that's even better. Also, as a precursor to the modern practice of "deleted scenes," networks would pad out the movie even more with footage not seen in theatres. Remember, these were the days where very few people had cable TV, and even fewer had VCR's, which were very expensive back then. (I'm so old. Who else here remembers the days when VCR's cost over $1,000?)

  • Does anyone have the THE ABC SUNDAY NIGHT MOVIE opening when SUPERMAN III premired? That should be on here too!!!!

  • Is Ernie Anderson still alive?? and does he still do voicing for ABC?

  • He died in 1997 from I had just found out. Rest in Peace, Ernie Anderson

  • Despite what was said in the opening of this

film..it ws shown complete and uncut..but

only for two showing..then the film was butchered!

  • This promo was from 1983, if anyones curious.

  • MGJR9108 is correct. This is from 1984. I used to have this version on tape. -And my family didn't have a VCR until after my Brother graduated High School... in 84

  • Did it come on the same weekend SUPERMAN III did?

  • those were the good old days of the 1980's.

  • Now that is an intro that chills to the bone.

The memories of a different world then.

  • I actually have this presentation of Superman on tape. It was broadcast on Sunday December 23, 1984.

  • Lucky you.

  • I heard everyone and their dog watched this presentation on ABC

  • My dog I and I watched it and taped it. Guess I'm part of the "in crowd" *laugh* It was a pretty huge deal.

  • how about one classic movie once a week on the networks?

    or would that never happen?

  • Vids like this make me say, "THANK GOD FOR YOUTUBE!" Ernie Anderson's vocals with that Superman theme..untouchable! Thanks for posting.

  • THANK YOU. THANK YOU.THANK YOU!

  • Wow, I had this taped also... I didn't get a VCR until '84 - so it must have been broadcasted in 1984 or 1985

  • OK! Where do you work to be able to get this fantasic TV footage?
