5* again. It's amazing how happy the things that would seem so small to others make us!! i remeber reading about a dad who was like a lottery winner because his kid opened a bag of crisps!! Once when I went into nursery (mainstream :-( )I was like "OMG HE WALKED PAST TWO SETS OF CROSSINGS!!!" cue funny looks "HE DIDN'T NEED TO PUSH THE BUTTONS!!!" cue more funny looks!! Our joy can be quite loston people ;-)

We did PECS since Jr. was an infant, but we didn't know that is what it was until years later. You have such a good and healthy perspective. Research has shown that parents with your approach (how you view your children/acceptance) have children with the best outcomes. There are too many people who think acceptance means doing nothing, which doesn't have anything to do with acceptance. Wish you could be cloned.

Good point on don't put cards in the book you are not prepared to give them. My non-verbal 6 year old is getting a pretty good grasp of asking "I want ..." and he knows where I hide some "yummy" cards;) Yeah! Slow and Steady. a personal mantra :) love it.
