  • do both male and female call?

  • are there alot of these guys in PA because i have only ever saw 1

  • The eastern has 48 chromosomes and the copes has 24. They can't hybridize for this reason.

  • Staffxsarge, it is indeed an eastern gray treefrog, Hyla versicolor. Please see my Cope's gray treefrog video for comparison. Thanks for watching!

  • hmm more like the normal gray treefrog but its shorter

  • thats a copes gray tree frog

  • The Eastern and Cope's can interbreed creating a frog that makes a call intermediate to the parents'.

  • That's true, in some parts of their range, eastern and Cope's can hybridize. However, so far, this area only supports eastern gray treefrogs. No Cope's have been found in the area despite call surveys and molecular and cytological analysis.

  • Very cool! If I remember correctly the Eastern Gray has twice the number of chromosomes as the Cope's.
