Islam thrives because of ignorance, not in spite of it. Excluding Indonesia over 54% of all Muslims are illiterate. Over 67% of Muslim women cannot read. Less than 1% of all scientific papers come from Muslim countries. Harvard University provides more scientific discoveries yearly than all Muslim nations combined. Spain translates more books annually than all Muslim countries combined. Muslim countries have the worst records of equality, civil rights.
Yes it does - the series will educate laymen as to the religion of Islam, in a critical manner; after watching this series, a laymen will have a broad understanding of the religion.
I look forward to this series. Finally, someone who can critically examine Islam without yelling about how they are going to "invade our country and bomb us all" or something
psl ppl stop pronouncing islam that way. everytime you say the a like that i die a little inside lol. the a is pronounced as in armageddon or argue or armory, NOT as in slam, ass, admit. Anglophones are language butcherers :D
@managarm1349 And it doesn't inspire much confidence in his ability to educate on the matter, when he doesn't even pronounce it correctly! You'd think that would be a good place to start!
@Lorientalist إسلام islam. written with the letter alif. alif is spoken as a loooong a, therefore pronounced as mentioned. when the a is short, written as fatha above the consonent, some pronounce it slightly more as in "ram", but not as heavily as you do, and surely not if its an alif. listen to some arabic speakers by searching for إسلام or whatever.
I'm sorry, but after conferring with my Arabic-speaking friends (who grew up in Arabic-speaking countries and have spoken Arabic all of their life), I am going to disregard what you are saying.
Besides, given the mutually unintelligibly Arabic dialects that exist throughout the Greater Middle-East, the point is moot.
I liked the previous version of this series and look forward to the new one. The series gave me a good starting place to learn about Islam. Thanks for making them.
There were adjustments I had to make - this is the final version. When this video reaches 1000 views, I will begin uploading the rest of the series, new and improved.
When we sceptics use the word god, its generally as part of playing out the internal logic of belief systems until the flaws are revealed.
As a sceptic, as see using the word Holy as counter to scepticsm of the texts. I dont see thats its necessary to butter Muslims up in this way, & it can serve to drive away the bigots back to Pat Condell thinking "Nothing to see here" rather than hang about & get an education rubbing e-shoulders with Muslims & us.
@ritchloui - Japan was the first country to permanently ban slavery, China briefly did before Britain - not the 'West' found slavery repugnant and set about forcing other countries including Portugal, Brazil, Oman, Ottoman Empire...; However, I would also like to see a video on slavery and Islam - because I know a bit but I just want to know how Islam explains the equality under God with slavery (seems a little contradictory).
Really looking forward to it! BTW I wonder if you might consider the central role of slavery in Islam. Where the secular West found slavery to be morally repugnant and was the first civilisation to seek to abolish it, Islam consecrates it as an essential part of their doctrine.
This disgusting Religion must be destroyed like all Religion. There is no place for it in a modern world. Barbaric followers.

Man, you are such a juvenile, manipulative, self-agrandising prick. You purport to inform and educate and yet it's all conditional.
Disgraceful and Shameful!
