Pre-order for the brand new GIANT SQUID album, CENOTES, produced by Matt Bayles (ISIS, Mastodon) is up at translationloss . com, now! Special limited shirt package available as well.
Aw, that guitar line coming in around 5:50 ruins the entire atmosphere. Just as I thought they'd avoided any sort of post-rock cliché. Still heart-dropping track though.
@Talonplz I'm wondering if maybe your cd is the original version of this album, called "Metridium Field" (singular, no S)...
That one was released on the band's own label, Tyranosaurus Records, in 2004, and is only 16 minutes long- the 2006 version on The End is a totally different (and I think, superior) recording, but it's still fun to listen to the original to hear a different take of the album...
ah, I meant this last track (not the whole album) is only 16 minutes long on the original version of the album, hehe...
But the 2004 version of this album has a big ska/Citizen Fish vibe to it, and sounds pretty similar to how Giant Squid sounded when they started out in the late 90's, under the name "Koi".
I got this cd for free after ordering an Agalloch hoodie. It came in the box. Awesome. This band is quite good.

@Talonplz I could tell you but it'd take a lot of effect. A friend from a friend etc. Want me to look into it? I could upload if need be,

i love this song of theirs best. It has all the contrast, intensity, hopelessness of Madder Mortem's Hangman.
