Whoa-up boys. Whoa-up. Don't go redneck chasing crap. Go find stainless steel, Hear me Bro.... Stainless Steel... scrubbers.
Highest surface area of all. Marbles, Broken dunny chip, Rashid rings.... they're not a patch on 6 for $2 ss scrubbers. Just make sure they ARE Stainless Steel.
In a copper column they will last indefinitely. For a 50mm (2") column around 3 foot (1.2 mtrs) you will need $6 worth ie., 18 pieces. Fluff 'em out, poke 'em in and forget 'em.
Hey Ironhead. Why dont you use copper wool or copper packing, only steel? I heard copper wool, or other things they call it, work good... Someone other than me used to use it all the time with excellent results. And you can clean it by boiling it when your done. I like the ceramic idea though. Nice work!
@ironhead41 Ah ok.. I can see that if its copper coated or something.. But I have some pure copper packing that had for 2-3 years now (was a bit pricey, being copper -bout 20-25 bucks). comes in like 2-3 foot lengths that you can shove up the column there nicely and hold it with a bent wire - Does the trick nice. one run, i'm done. Make nice pure water ;) Let us know how this ceramic works!
Sorry, I don't understand how the old toilet is going to filer water and get rid of bad things in the water. I need a long term permanent solution to water. This might be it but I don't understand what is going on. Thanks. Your video are short and to the point. Confussed!
@Hobohube it does filter water....sort of.....its the top half of a distiller........which is only illegal if completely assembled.......just showing a cheaper reusable packing........
I did not know it was only illegal if it were Assembled. Interesting, I assume you're using a stainless steel bowl for your collecter that goes on top of your modified boiler (keg)?
I've been trying to do set up's for years, but I can't ever manage to make anything seal worth a toot.
@ironhead41 The packing doesn't filter anything. If there wasn't any packing the whole set-up would be inefficiant. Something has to slow thing's down in there for the fluid to turn back into steam during the reflux process. Great idea with the toilet thing. Way better than the packing. I never thought that would be a good idea being it's not pure copper. If someone want's to use copper mesh (which is the norm) boil it first.
