One question about your magnets... All I read says magnetic flux of multiple magnets only 'add' if they are in parallel, not in series as your are. Is there something I'm missing here? Would it not make this much stronger to split your stack, and have 2 stacks side-by-side?
Goes to show that you can't believe everything you read.... what multiple magnets in series, as you call it, do is to change the throw of the field. Plus it does add to the strength but two magnets together does not necessarily double the strength.
