If youve ever seen the quality of pretty much any Final Fatasy CG then youll relize the japanese animators are superior especilly in terms of budget. look FF 13 the new game blows them all away for quality animation or Crisis Core and if your talking about 2d then look at Gainax or Production I.G. Gainax does the worlds best fluid animation of complex moving objects and only use about an eigth of the amount of money disney uses. Altough the movie Vexille isnt the best CG ever.
@sharkosy, maybe with respect to graphics, but with respect to FLUID animation, anime looses out to Disney/Pixar. Anime employs way too many still frames. Watch any animated Disney/Pixar feature along side any anime film and you'll realize how far ahead in the field of ANIMATION disney/pixar is compared to anime. Totally agree with strawberryshort99. I love anime, and if some people like anime's art design over Disney Pixar, that's great, but as far as the rendering and compositing of images and the quality of animation itself, Disney Pixar are lightyears ahead of all others.

That's the stupidest reply I've read in quite a while. Japanese studios make more projects in the same time disney does, so that makes them superior? lol Yes they do make more in less time,and it shows in the quality too. I'll take quality over quantity.

People! Both companies do superior quality movies. Japanese movies have a different style, it's more on reality-based anime while disney produces animation of imaginations (like toys talking...) peace! but quality-wise? TWO THUMBS UP TO BOTH OF THEM
Well, if you consider that Vexille was made with a budget of 10 million dollars while The Incredibles had a budget of 92 million dollars (not adjusting for inflation) I think the Japanese animators make a hell of a job!
Take a look at Karass for flawless, drop-your-pants-and-start-drooling animation... also made with a significant lower budget
I have to agree, even though I don't like it. Disney doesn't do many good grown- up animations. The vexille soundtrack has a few interesting compositions, that is, if you like Paul Oakenfold. I happen to do, so you'll have to judge for yourself. Overall, it was a good movie, well worth seeing.

well the japanese r crazy perfectionist..
to work there in such industry (doing kick-ass CG for example) is near suicidal if u can't keep up their way of doing things..
but @ the same time it isn't fair to say pixar or disney or any western CG company sucks.. they haf fair share of kick-ass-ness..
different works cater to different audiences
