Sorry Jsanchez- I didn't mean to remove your last post. I was re-arranging mine and now yours is gone. Anyway, these are in response to you saying that if the awd has less tirespin, then it must be faster...
@jsanchez430 Therefore, even though some power is wasted due to traction limitations, there can still be more power utilized overall. To better understand this, imagine how a torque converter works. When people run engines that make a lot of power at higher rpms, they run a higher stall converter to allow them to spend more time in their power band. Spinning the tires has the same effect as long as tirespin is not great enough to allow the engine speed to go beyond the power band.
@jsanchez430 You are missing 2 important components in this equation. 1. If the AWD car is making the same power at the flywheel, it will be making less power at the wheels due to a much greater percentage of drivetrain loss. 2. As I stated earlier, tirespin can actually be an advantage, and likely is in this case. If you look at the dyno charts for this car, it makes a lot more power at 6500 rpm than it does at 4000 rpm.
DAMN. I have your zzp stage 2 kit on my 2.2 cobalt and it's only at 7ish PSI and I still lose traction first through third at WOT. What mods did you run to get you better traction? because that's what I need next :P
@jsanchez430 More like FWD FUN.......spinning the tires at 120 mph must be an experience in it's self . Anyone can do 120 with traction ......but it takes BRASS BALLS to spin right on past 120 to catch at 125.
@rukkee22 how about getting you the point you're trying to get to without wasting time/power/rubber to get there? you're correct, it may be fun, but efficiency is better :)
@jsanchez430 No argument here..... FWD has it's limits and there are better platforms for putting power to the ground . I have a Turbo Cobalt and it's a blast spinning in 2nd from a 40 mph roll ....it's inefficient and tears up tires .....but it's a lot of fun.
@rukkee22 Great way to put it! Thanks for not trying to start a war on here. I like cobalts! My close friend has a 400+hp cobalt and it's pretty quick!
@jsanchez430 NP! No reason to start anything ...... Your point's are valid .... I think most would agree that FWD wasn't designed for motor sports (shhhsh dont tell my cobalt lol) ...... more for MPG and reduced build costs.
That said.... ZZP has really brought the cobalt SS to a very respectable level that can compete (and beat) cars that were designed from the start to be sport cars. I'm sure you'll agree 60 to 125 in 5 seconds in a FWD car would be a fun ride 8)
@DwnNvr maybe you don't realize what my point is. awd would "move the fuck out" in the same way with the same power, but it won't spin tires getting there, hence getting to said point faster. understand? or is this making you think too much?
@jsanchez430 No, your point was its a fail, and in fact it is not a fail. Sure awd could do better, but in these circumstances this car did damn well.
