Hmm...... thats a good question. i think the new version of directx is better i have Direct X 10 on my pc some Rc 2 pre fix but i dont know what it means. I know maybe you can searc on some forums type in in goggle your problem maybe it comes some use full info for you sorry that i can only help so much but by me it alway run fine or you can check the compability.

Iam sure there is some problem whit your compability but i thhink maybe there is a website that tells that you can run the game i was like that soo by portal 2 after i downloade and istalled it dosent work but from i downloaded there was a program that you type in what videocard and manyy infos and he say what is wrong try to find it. on gogle maybe my portal 2 download or something.

Question!!! do i need to put the update to the original hl2ep1 game directory? becuz it says on readme txt that it will fix some graphics in DirectX 6, 7, and 8 users. but i have directx 9c
