The point is - military production of AK-47 stopped in early 70s (counting the AKM as Ak-47). After that it saw no change. Everything the rifle is was made using 40s/50s technology and manufacturing methods. Keep that in mind. Customization came in the 80s.
Ak-47's accuracy issues come from the big bullet (drops fast) and lack of muzzle brake. However accurate fire is possible up to 300m.
@ElDrHouse2010 It wasnt even that revolutionary imo, but yeah - as far as AK-47 goes - it no longer fits the current demand of combat, which is why it was replaced in the 70s. There are new AK versions though, like the 100 series, some even incorporate unique recoil dampening systems know as BARS (no other AR in the world has anything like that). They can be kitted with all sorts of gadgets as well. So given that AK still is better in overall performance.

@ringelos terminal ballistics: the 5.45 doesn't depend so much on velocity as the 5.56 NATO. It will tumble when it hits the body, which deals a lot of damage to tissue. It tumbles at lower velocities than the NATO, so in conditions the 5.56 would punch trough with almost no energy transfer, the 5.45 would win.
Advantage of NATO rounds? The casing acomodates more power = higher velocity. The purpose of FMJ is to reduce lead deposits on at high speeds AND 5.45x39 is a jacketed round.
@ringelos Just for comparations purpose, the 5.45x39mm (53gr M74FMJ) creates a cavity similar to the 7.62x39mm (124gr M67 FMJ) up to 30cm of penetration. After that the 7.62 turns upwards a bit while the 5.45 does a 90º turn upwards in less than 20cm. Imagine it hitting you under the left armpit and exiting on your right shoulder.

U would e stupid to fire this gun fully auto cause it has the same characteristics as the AK-47 as the design of teh gun is same but shorter in overall length but the bolt is the same as the AK-47 thus u can see the recoil is still the same and it can be chambered with the 5.45 "Poison Bullet" and the 7.62 cartridge and the magazine box is the same! ONLY the AK74U is different as its only made to chamber teh 5.45 cartridge

S standing for "Skladnoy" literally the Russian word for folding, while U stands for "Ukorochenniy", literally meaning shortened.
As far as submachine guns go it's a good all rounder. Quite short range though. I would have an ACOG sight attached to mine and just fire from the hip at close range.

Lets end the Discusson about which caliber is more deadly. A little Maths: Carried Rounds for a normal solider: 5,56/5,45: 240-300 (I argue with unrealistic Numbers) 7,62: 120-150. Needed Hits to Kill a normal guy: 5,56/5,45: 1-3 7,62: 1-2. Hitting targets should be equal. So. 7,62 Needs less rounds than 5,56 to kill but you cant carry as much, and will hit less in Fully-Automatic Fire in CLose quarters. + If the enemy is wearing body armour, both rounds are equally deadly.
i think it's not ak47 it's polish modification ok AK called BERYL ! 5.56 standard nato ammunition ! standard polish army weapon more pawerfull than M4 or M16,

@ringelos terminal ballistics: the 5.45 doesn't depend so much on velocity as the 5.56 NATO. It will tumble when it hits the body, which deals a lot of damage to tissue. It tumbles at lower velocities than the NATO, so in conditions the 5.56 would punch trough with almost no energy transfer, the 5.45 would win.
Advantage of NATO rounds? The casing acomodates more power = higher velocity. The purpose of FMJ is to reduce lead deposits on at high speeds AND 5.45x39 is a jacketed round.

@ringelos Just for comparations purpose, the 5.45x39mm (53gr M74FMJ) creates a cavity similar to the 7.62x39mm (124gr M67 FMJ) up to 30cm of penetration. After that the 7.62 turns upwards a bit while the 5.45 does a 90º turn upwards in less than 20cm. Imagine it hitting you under the left armpit and exiting on your right shoulder.

The 7.62mm and the 5.45mm bullets r in same length so its adaptable for the AK 74 to fire off 47 rounds if the 5.45mm runs out u know that? Recoil kick is different cause the bullet is lighter and projectile is smaller so recoil is lower than 5.45mm check it out dude! Jeez!

@MrLolx2u DUDE, THE "EXPERTS" THAT TOLD YOU THE 7.62 AND 5.45 MAGS ARE INTERCHANGABLE MUST BE LIKE THE GUN SHOP THAT TOLD ME THE 74 MAGS WERE MADE OF BAKELITE - always research, the AK74 was designed so that ONLY 5.45 magazines would fit to prevent someone to try to load the gun with a bigger caliber.

U would e stupid to fire this gun fully auto cause it has the same characteristics as the AK-47 as the design of teh gun is same but shorter in overall length but the bolt is the same as the AK-47 thus u can see the recoil is still the same and it can be chambered with the 5.45 "Poison Bullet" and the 7.62 cartridge and the magazine box is the same! ONLY the AK74U is different as its only made to chamber teh 5.45 cartridge

The AKS-74U is considered a carbine: a short barreled version of a rifle usually issued for short range engagements or to light infantry. S standing for "Skladnoy" literally the Russian word for folding, while U stands for "Ukorochenniy", literally meaning shortened.

As far as submachine guns go it's a good all rounder. Quite short range though. I would have an ACOG sight attached to mine and just fire from the hip at close range.

Lets end the Discusson about which caliber is more deadly. A little Maths: Carried Rounds for a normal solider: 5,56/5,45: 240-300 (I argue with unrealistic Numbers) 7,62: 120-150. Needed Hits to Kill a normal guy: 5,56/5,45: 1-3 7,62: 1-2. Hitting targets should be equal. So. 7,62 Needs less rounds than 5,56 to kill but you cant carry as much, and will hit less in Fully-Automatic Fire in CLose quarters. + If the enemy is wearing body armour, both rounds are equally deadly.
