This was Katatonia taking their new identity, built up from Discouraged Ones, to the highest level. They had such a great Niche. No one did what they did, and it sucked that all the kids at the time thought Linkin Park and HIM was important music instead.

I really can't figure out why they tried to change their Identity and style after this. They could have developed and progress in so many more interesting ways than downtuning and adopting commercial rhythmic chug riffing and nu-styled stuff

@crosboid I really don't look at it that way, after this, there was Viva Emptiness, which was very different, some experimental, and just all round amazing. Then there was TGCD which was a bit mainstream in certain aspects, but still very much Katatonia, it was still atmospherical and dark, and definitely more technical than LP. NITND is definitely not chuggy at all, and its their most atmospherical and keyboard heavy album.
