1. Make us more competitive through eliminating the income tax,let local government come up with it's own environmental restrictions, let local government control education to teach students about factory work, and get prices down on everything,
2. Inspect every factory we trade with to make it so the quality is of our standard.
3. Install tariffs to penalize them. We pay more for labor make it so they paid the same in labor we did through tariffs.

He had to keep talking, and there's not much you can say to that lady's question except "No, I don't think our kids should be poisoned!" Kind of black-and-white, wouldn't you say?
He said plenty without the inclusion of bringing up missiles and arming. And no, it wasn't a very black and white question. She asked what he would do, not if he thinks poison is okay.
Yeah, I think has more to do with paying attention to the quality of, and materials used in imported items. Romney mentioned the difficulties involved with getting rid of toxic waste. Hmmn... doesn't China have that problem too?
Our politicians sell the Chinese precision missile technology (to launch satellites not I.C.B.M.-Right and they don't share?),and they rip off our space shuttle, sell small arms in the Middle East, build up their military, import our jobs, yet sell us poisonous products. It sounds like the only American thing being sold in America is our politicians.

bballtez, do you want cheap? Or do you want quality? You can't have it both ways. Hunter is very correct when he says, if you want to get away from lead induced products, made by a foreign country, that obviously doesn't care about the fact that it's winding up in childrens' hands (and now, pets mouths), then the only other option, which IS going to be more expensive, is to buy things manufactured in America.

not even close to most of Chinese products are dangerous, theres only a tiny tiny percentage, people are still going to take that risk... if i were going to buy say... a microwave for 20$ or one for 50$ what do you think i would go for? both are assembled on an assembly line with the same basic components and such, what big difference will it make? 1 lasts 10 years the other last 20?
That doesn't even work. Sure, American-made toys might not have lead, but they have more problems. Last year, American toys had more recalls than their product share while Chinese toys had less. This means that given an American toy and a Chinese one, the American one is more likely to have a problem with it. China has more recalls because it makes 90% of the toys, but American toys have higher chances for recall.
How can you buy American this Christmas when nothing is made here. What are we going to buy a Boeing airplane, since that is pretty much all that is made here these days.
These toys don't even get sold in China. Those toy companies exist simply because AMERICAN companies buy their stuff, so don't blame China for this, what a DICKHEAD
buy American....um can you tell me where? last time i checked nothing is made in America that you would buy for x-mas. Have you been to a bestbuy, Wallmart, target or any other store?
PATRIOT READING THIS I CHALLENGE YOU! Hunter is a good man, no doubt about it. However, the problem is the CFR, whom Rudy and Mitt subscirbe to (Bush's, Clintons as well) along with their program of NAFTA is what is at the heart of the problems. WTH Lady! Her question is so racist and Americentric. Like America should be perfect because those damn ~Chinese~ people can't come to corrupt enlightened white Americans (and especially ones who have "saved" Chinese orphans from being poisoned and corrupted by their birth country). And GTFO. Nothing is "made in American". Hell, other countries outsource their products too, so it ain't "po' America" being taken advantage by the "yellow peril" or "brown peril". Racist, uninformed and ignorant!!
Where the hell can you find a toy or clothing or anything else for that matter that is made here anymore? I'd buy american and try to but there is more domestic content in a Toyota than there is in a Chevy.
I agree but things could be made here if the Corps were less greedy. I refuse for example to buy anything made by Nike who sell shoes on average 80 dollars and use cheap swearshop labor to the point it only costs about 3 bucks to produce.
LOL "Cheating", look at the total US deficit, china is just a piece in the puzzle, US have a current account deficit on around 800 billion US dollars a year, China is just a smaller part in this. The US consume alot more than it produce, this is why the US tradebalance is in red.
What a dumb question! (my opinion) Do you realy think that these guys give a damn about that? You know there is lead in the paint from China, dont buy it! Buy a do it your self book and make your own toys for you kids.
It's a shame that pretty much theres nothing made in America anymore. What people don't understand it's exploiting people that have to make these items for us. America doesn't care and of course the country that is making those items doesn't either. As long as they get there money and we are the consumers that support these.
Tell that to the taxpayer that can't afford things because all the money is going to federal programs that don't know how to lower costs to keep jobs and increase fair competition.
Vote for the only Hope for America.
Economic Scholar Ron Paul in 2008.

I don't know about you but anyone will buy a Sony at half the price vs. a more expensive american one with less features.
Value Talks and Less Taxes/No Federal Reserve & IRS is how.
I agree with renzaura, look at last week's "Black Friday..." We need to fix our education programs, so people wouldn't grow up to become assembly line workers. Get better teachers in schools, youth programs etc. . If you don't feel comfortable w/ "made in China" don't buy it..take your child to Chuckie Cheese.
What a stupid question. We have to send jobs overseas in order to stay competitive. That is why you go to school to get a higher paying job so you don't have your assembly job stolen by people in China.
Don't forget about the lead in chocolate, the lead paint being used on graphite pencils, and several other products that contain LEAD. I have a disabled child who's brain was basically fried from lead poisoning. And I hope that mother WASHED her hands after handling that toy. YIKES.
ok buy american, could some body let me know where to find that? because i look at everytime i buy a product and guess what, IT'S MADE IN CHINAAA ok!!! be a fuckin realistic, it's a little tooo late for that.
I like how I get thumbs down for being right. I have never fully understood what the thumbs are really used for. What do most people give thumbs down, and what do most people give thumbs up?
I give a thumbs-up when a post is coherent, intelligent, and above all, civil. I give a thumbs-down to a post that is stupid, unintelligible, or rude. I'm in the minority, of course; "Fuck Bush!" gets a +5, while "I think affirmative action has gone a bit too far" gets you a -6 and the reply will be "your so fuckin racist, omfg!"

I remember American foods recalled more than anyone before the toy scare. Maybe she should move to Europe and get some mad cow.
liltibet 4 years ago 2
Where the hell can you find a toy or clothing or anything else for that matter that is made here anymore? I'd buy american and try to but there is more domestic content in a Toyota than there is in a Chevy.

Americans don't know how to waste money, which is why they can't stay competitive enough to produce anything themselves.
ShortTube 4 years ago
I agree but things could be made here if the Corps were less greedy. I refuse for example to buy anything made by Nike who sell shoes on average 80 dollars and use cheap swearshop labor to the point it only costs about 3 bucks to produce.

LOL "Cheating", look at the total US deficit, china is just a piece in the puzzle, US have a current account deficit on around 800 billion US dollars a year, China is just a smaller part in this. The US consume alot more than it produce, this is why the US tradebalance is in red.
Zeptocomp 4 years ago 3
US barbi-toycompany Mattel was behind that dangerous toys, not China itself. Stop blaiming China for the errors of domestic producers......
Zeptocomp 4 years ago 2
What a dumb question! (my opinion) Do you realy think that these guys give a damn about that? You know there is lead in the paint from China, dont buy it! Buy a do it your self book and make your own toys for you kids.

It's a shame that pretty much theres nothing made in America anymore. What people don't understand it's exploiting people that have to make these items for us. America doesn't care and of course the country that is making those items doesn't either. As long as they get there money and we are the consumers that support these.

Buy American?
Tell that to the taxpayer that can't afford things because all the money is going to federal programs that don't know how to lower costs to keep jobs and increase fair competition.
Vote for the only Hope for America.

Get better teachers in schools, youth programs etc. . If you don't feel comfortable w/ "made in China" don't buy it..take your child to Chuckie Cheese.
teo829 4 years ago
What a stupid question. We have to send jobs overseas in order to stay competitive. That is why you go to school to get a higher paying job so you don't have your assembly job stolen by people in China.

Don't forget about the lead in chocolate, the lead paint being used on graphite pencils, and several other products that contain LEAD. I have a disabled child who's brain was basically fried from lead poisoning. And I hope that mother WASHED her hands after handling that toy. YIKES.

An even better question: what will the government do about the lead the FDA permits in candy and lipstick?
MadM3rv 4 years ago
Nothing. The FDA is part of the government. It permits certain levels of lead, so the government won't "do" anything about it.

I like how I get thumbs down for being right. I have never fully understood what the thumbs are really used for. What do most people give thumbs down, and what do most people give thumbs up?
kiminokami 4 years ago
I give a thumbs-up when a post is coherent, intelligent, and above all, civil. I give a thumbs-down to a post that is stupid, unintelligible, or rude. I'm in the minority, of course; "Fuck Bush!" gets a +5, while "I think affirmative action has gone a bit too far" gets you a -6 and the reply will be "your so fuckin racist, omfg!"
