It works just like that for the children. Afterall you cant have that kid forever. It would some day live without you, and you probably you will die before your kid. So it cant have you forever. You see the only thing in the scriptures that is called the word of God is Jesus. In fact in the John verses that is exactly what Jesus is pointing out was their mistake. It works just like that for the children. Afterall you cant have that kid forever. It would some day live without you, and you probably you will die before your kid. So it cant have you forever. God disciplines us because He loves us and want to shows us where we are wrong or other things. So does the parents. What makes you think men in the time the books in the bible was written weren't able to write fiction. Second of all, all old science books have been modified because of new break through and findings. Christ is the one who fills your memory, guides your steps, is wisdom, is the mind of God, is Salvation, is HOLY, and God did all that he did to give us Christ not a book. The bible points to Christ. Once you go to Him the book is just that. You now have relationship with the author!

@nikkithebuckeye God wants us to have a relationship with Him, you are right, and we can only have this through Jesus. But the Bible testifies of Jesus (John 5:31-47). I'd be very sceptical of anyone who would try to separate you from the Bible. Once they do this then it's much easier to lead you astray. (2nd Timothy 3:10 - 4:4)

I'm not saying God doesn't use the bible or that it is worthless but I think much of Christendom allows the bible to be put in place of His Spirit. The apostles did not have the bible and were easily led by the Spirit. The bible is a great record of how God has interacted with man.

The bible is easily taken away in a controlled society but the Word of God can never be taken away from someone who has Him in their heart. There is only one thing that will remain and that is Christ...not the bible.

You see the only thing in the scriptures that is called the word of God is Jesus. In fact in the John verses that is exactly what Jesus is pointing out was their mistake. They thought because they knew the scriptures they had salvation, but they refused to believe into the one that the scriptures testified of and the Word didn't dwell in them.

Claiming an all-powerful being created life is actually a less defendable position because you have no demonstrable evidence for it, whereas there are libraries of observations in natural history that defend evolutionary processes.

The bible actually referred to the earth as a circle, which is a logical assumption given you can travel 360 degrees on a two dimensional plane - which produces a circular frame of reference. People like you often vaguely refer to the "designer" as everywhere, but I fail to see why order indicates design. You cannot infer one from the other, and where exactly is your evidence that the universe originated from chaos?

You don't have testimonies FROM the 'actual witnesses', you have accounts from people who wrote about supposed events decades after they supposedly happened. All three accounts contradict each other! Take a look at the last words of Jesus Christ for example, three sets of final words before death, and none of them match.
The only heart that's closed here is yours.
