I understand what he is saying, the domino effect, it all makes sense. But, didn't we also join because our merchant vessels were getting sunk by German U-boats? If I remember correctly, that was happening, and the president warned them not to sink another of our ships. The Lusitania was sunk by u-boats, and that's when we entered. Am I wrong on these facts? I think that is what I remember reading.

3) American passengers were aboard the ship.

What!? Wilson wasn't the best diplomat ever, but the Treaty of Versailles wasn't his fault. He wanted to treat the Germans less harshly, but France and the UK overruled him.

Besides, some historians (such as Gerhard L. Weinberg) argue that the treaty wasn't all that harsh in the first place. If Germany had won it would've been just as harsh, if not more so.

The Treaty of Sevres formed the boundaries of Iraq, not the Treaty of Versailles.

But that would've happened even if Wilson wasn't involved in the talks. France and the UK were dead set on no German involvement in the Paris Peace Talks and no diplomat alive could've convinced them to let them in.

Germany would have had a stronger position had they not been facing the US. As Paul said, the war was at a stalemate and then the US came and pushed the "allies" over the top which led to Germany's humiliation.

Germany was bankrupt because of the WWI and the Versailles Treaty. I imagine the humiliation would have something to do with being pushed from a world power to the brink of povery in a few decades. But I'm not a historian, I'm just speculating.

World War I really was a disaster on all fronts if you think about it. It begot the League of Nations (the precedent for the United Nations), forced Germany to the brink whereby the Nazis were permitted to take over, and was the primary cause for the overthrow of the Russian government (which though not great was certainly better than the Soviet Union). Did you know the emperor of Austria actually tried to negotiate a peace via America but Wilson refused to cooperate?

Dec. 7. 1941. Hitler didn't even enter Russia until June of 1941. He was not "bogged" down in Russian at that time. It was the United States' industrial power that turned the tide in Europe. Paul would not have gotten evolved. Buzz (V-1) Bombs and v-2 were still dropping on England as late as 1945. Please know your history before you make stupid statements!

@jesushatesyoutoo Wrong, by 1942 the Germans were only pushing forward in the South because they lacked the troops to carry out offensives along the entire front thus they were already weakened and were increasingly relying on non-German troops such as Romanians and Hungarians which is ultimately how the Soviets were able to break through and surround the German troops at Stalingrad. The Germans never got close to Moscow again after 1941.

V1 and V2 bombs are irrelevant because that's not an actual troop invasion of England. The V1 and V2's didn't even kill that many people, you don't get it, the actual physical threat of a German invasion of England was OVER before Pearl Harbor, those are the facts! You try learning the history buddy because you clearly don't.

The Soviets started pushing the Germans back from Moscow on that date which is one day prior to Pearl Harbor. Zhukov was able to launch this counterattack with fresh Siberian troops who had been moved from Asia because the Soviets had learned that the Japanese were not going to attack them that year.
