Craig Ferguson and Conan O'Brien are clearly the best late night hosts. They are naturally funny and talented and their deilvery is far superior to Leno's. Craig Ferguson could go up one night and have no script and make the audience laugh. His show format is so much fresher and more innovative than the other late night hosts. Conan O'Brien has his own style too and he will do well wherever he chooses to do business.He didn't quit for money, he quit because he loves his craft and his fans.

Look. TV has been this way for a long time. Some of us still like it that way. Conan mostly left because he didn't want to see "The Tonight Show", a staple of television for decades, get moved to a different slot. Regardless of whether or not you think it's outdated, the show itself is important to a lot of people. Myself included. I will be sad to see Conan off of the show, and will not be watching the return of Jay Leno.

I would argue his issue wasn't with 11:35pm itself. It was with the 60 year tradition of "The Tonight Show" starting directly after local late night news, and the prestige attached to the brand that has such a powerful historical context.

While the current trend of Internet producers is to mock or label them obsolete, nothing purely from the net can command that size audience alone, with those level guests that regularly.

That's the challenge.

I like Jay Leno hosting "The Tonight Show". Conan O'Brien's brand of humor simply doesn't work in the earlier timeslot. Tonight Show audiences don't get his weird & caustic humor. Jay Leno is milder for the older crowd of viewers that watch him, then go to bed. Conan is more for the younger crowd that like weird skits like The Masturbating Bear, If They Mated. Same crowd that like SNL skits. Conan was just too arrogant IMO & should've stayed in his 12:35 timeslot where he excelled. Fuck him now!

I think you mean Jay Leno's comedy is more generic and palatable to American audiences. Conan is self-deprecating and somewhat higher brow, hwich American audiences aren't very fond of.

Not that I dislike Leno. Conan is just far more likable (as is evidenced by that one poll showing over 80% of Americans sided with him.)

It's a lame ass feud, though.
