  • why does he sound british at times rofl

  • what are these guitar conventions called?

  • Buy my metal muff off amazon!!!!SHOOT ME A MESSAGE IF YOU WANT TO AND I WILL GIVE YOU A 10% DISCOUNT!!!!! COOL STUFF STORE

  • @MrIplayguitar he.....is average...

  • WORST PEDAL EVER DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I think all of you don't know the REAL BC Rich guitars, I've got old BC Rich from 2000 year, and I've got EMG 81 in the bridge, and I've got old USA amp called "HOLMES", and EH Metal Muff, and it sounds amazing! so, try it before you will write the comments

  • Yea man whoever did this demo blows at guitar. I have this pedal and it sounds a hell of a lot better than this. The only thing is that the knobs make a huge difference in the overall sound and you really have to mess with them to find the "sweet spot" in the sound. Whatever you do though don't push the mids down lmao it will sound like a line 6 ripoff piece of metalcore shit.

  • wts this guitar

  • @joeldification some paul reed smith super cool guitar

  • :D this better be good. I saw hot ladies!

  • 0:00, you can see Synyster Gates' guitar! :)

  • @TheJejan Who cares about that loser?

  • @MrCh33pshot Hahaha, you're the loser. I'mma bitch slap you.

  • @TheJejan omg ur right

  • you'd think the guy would play some metal on a metal muff demo.

  • how many pedals does this guy have 1:15

  • Ah another well played and well thought out demo by gearwire -__-

  • 1:31

    bend fail

  • 1:32

    bend fail

  • waaaaahhh!!!!

    pretty guitar

  • so metal muff or metal zone??

  • haha... muff...

  • Wheres there a video of someone demonstrating a foot pedal designed to be stomped with you FOOT not fingers, and actual fast 170 bpm chunky metal riffs being demonstrated?

  • Great jamming! Some advice dude just shave t your head completely...The hair on the sides looks silly...You will actually look more stylish rather lie Dr. Phill....Your better off peeling it off completely when the top is gone.

  • I just got 1 of these tonight. Brand New, Tried it with the battery at first, then a 1 spot, changed battery and all the cables, When I engage the pedal the volume goes down to nothing. In Bypass mode it sounds fine, But the pedal kills all the volume . Its called a DISTORTION / BOOST pedal. I'm shipping it back in the morning. Google 'metal muff problems', you'll find lots of forums about this $80 paper weight.

  • this thing is great..but i still love my metalzone XD

  • Its cool how they separated the audio from the amp with his audio, that way you dont get the pick sound all over the recording.

  • perfect to play Motorhead

  • If i get this pedal, how much does the kind of amp i have effect the sound? I'm using an old Laney HC50R 50W. Like, I know most sound and tone is based on the amp, but how much will a pedal change that? I'm just a beginner looking for a better metal sound btw. Like, im content with the amp i have now for maiden and slayer, but not as much for newer metal if you know what i mean.

  • Hmmm.... the sound of it is too fuzzy, and sounds too digital to be played in the best metal bands... Slipknot, Inflames, Metallica, Slayer... This thing isn't worthy of being used in Metal.

  • @SlapphePikkur lol isn't worthy? It's just a piece of gear.. lol. and the sound quality is also on youtube. A video isn't going to show the true sound of anything. Even with better equipment, it would simply be unable to project how well this actually fairs in an actual gig/band situation

  • @punkmusicmetal

    I take stuff quite seriously.

And the reason i think this is not worthy of the bands i mentioned, is because i know the quality of Metal Muff. I bought it... DISSAPOINTMENT!

  • @SlapphePikkur uh yeah. Hopefully you don't approach making music with other people in the same way.

  • @punkmusicmetal

I take making music with my bands quite seriously, although we do tell jokes and just fuck around for atleast 54 minutes before the ideas keep flowing.

  • I like this sound 0.39 - 1.00

  • hey im buying myself a new rig with a Peavey 6505+ 112 60 watt combo im saving for. I play a schecter c1 hellraiser with emg 81 an 85 in the neck. Should i get a twin tube meyham, a metal muff, boss metal zone, an mxr fullbore metal, or an mxr Zakk Wylde Overdrive? I play classic rock up to Metallica and Van Halen and am trying to learn more heavey stuff.

  • @hiian123

    MXR Fullbore.

  • MT-2 is better for me. metal muff and big muff, sound like sinthetic distortion. is like a fuzz pedal but with more gain in the basses. the MT-2 of boss is louder than how I want it

  • I get my tone from my fingers son. And that's how it be done. My fingers smell like fish too. You'll learn. It takes time.

  • guys..really need ur opinion

    mt-2 or the metal muff?

    i play avenged sevenfold(dont diss me),BFMV,trivium,iron maiden,etc.

    thanks for the help

  • because you want to play music with no tone like the idiots I play hair metal with

  • lol okay grandpa :P

  • the metal muff is badass

  • metal mongers @ 0:33 - 0:35

    HAHAHAHA!!!

    nice pedal btw

  • can you guys tell me the best power metal pedal you can think of for $100 and under?

  • i think the boss mt-2 metal zone i bought this pedal 3 years ago...and it stills pumps a good high gaind crusching distorsion

  • this is true bypass so... i'm convinced

  • GOT ENOUGH FUCKING PEDALS!!! JEEZ...rich people,,,pfft..

  • I owned MT-2, played metal muff, and realized that I'll never buy a distortion pedal ever again:D buy if you have questions about those two, just ask.

  • so which sounds better for you? MM or MT-2?

  • Metal muff, but it depends... theyre both very different pedals

  • @reikofact

    ML-2

    metal core

  • metal master rules this pedal even my fab tone sounds better than this garbage tone

  • @weaselpopper

The Metal Master sounds okaaaay but it's so unreliable. Mine broke within a few months of buying it and my friend had two of them where the same thing happened. I'd take a Metal Muff or a Metal Zone over the Metal Master any day.

  • yeah mine broke to i liked the sound however loved the morph knob

  • al though the metal master is great for insane distortion and has the nifty morph knob the metal muff is an amazing pedal im actuall getting a metal muff cause my metal master fucked up hate that style of stompbox!

  • yea my metal master pedal fucked up also the distortion got weaker i almost thought something broke in my guitar but it was my pedal

  • Comment removed

  • I`ve had mine for years with no trouble.Maybe the newer Metal Masters are made cheaper?

  • I cant decide on a pedal to buy. Im thinking either the muff or the boss mt2. I play stuff like bullet for my valentine, all that remains, and metallica. Any suggestions? Thanks.

  • mt2

  • 0.47- 0.54 = footgasm

  • @swankbasher hahah

  • I choose the uber metal for any distortion, right now i have the digitech grunge pedal, sound amazing, those are the only two that i would ever use though.

  • this or the BOSS MT-2??....i play a lot of metallica, megadeth, judas priest, iron maiden stuff..

  • i use the Muff and LOVE it :) besides, if my memory works correctly, you get an EQ with the muff, the MT-2 doesn't :). I nailed or I'm close to the Kill 'Em All tone. It won't work for Iron Maiden though, it's more for thrash metal :)

I'd choose the Muff, but i'll leave the decision to you.

  • the MT-2 has an EQ!...it is a very very versatile pedal!

  • really? man, i didn't know! sorry :) well, i think i'd go for the muff :) but that's just my opinion, and one more thing about the EQ, the muff has a very aggresive EQ :) i love that, i don't know if the MT-2 has it, but... well :)

  • no prbs man...the mt2 has an aggresive EQ as well!...thats y i'm torn b/w both the pedals!

  • @smehtarocks

damn!! now i get you, i think i'll watch a review of both pedals and tell you my opinion :)

  • umm....u're a little late actually!...i bought the MT-2 today!!..AWESOME pedal!...i get an awesome tone using it!...thanks btw!...keep rockin! :)

  • mt-2 sucks... hail to the good ol' hm-2, hell yeah !

  • Comment removed

  • @smehtarocks it depends, i use a metal zone and it gets the job done. But for that kind of music, i'd say either one is just as good as the other

  • @smehtarocks dude, metalzone is complete shit compared to MM

  • @vanpauls no it aint!!

  • @smehtarocks mt-2

I have the metal muff, it's very cool but a little more modern (which will probably draw flames). It's definitely fuzzier, nastier and I think a little hipper. The MT-2 is great though for it's finer clipping and really really useful parametric mid control. but for maiden/priest I'd still say metal zone. Also- I definitely do not get the kind of sustain you might expect from such a high gain pedal. hope this helps.

  • @smehtarocks

    THIS

  • @smehtarocks Go with the muff, i own both and the metal muff sounds a lot less digital.

  • @smehtarocks metal muff is fucking great for maiden, megadeth etc... i recommend it!!!! i own it half a year :)

  • @TheTrooper80 dude does the metal muff sound like shit when you crank your amp or is it a loud ass pedal

    thanks man

  • @dime4life99 It sounds perfect :-) I always have pedal volume on 50% and it sounds great

  • @smehtarocks I dont reccomend this it sounds really thin. And to get it to sound GREAT you will need a really good amp. I would go with the BOSS.

  • @PieceOfMind56 Yeah I agree, I have this pedal and its too thin and fizzy.

It doesn't have any crunch to it..

  • @smehtarocks lol Neither look around for every kind of distortion pedal (Boutique, mom & pop made pedals, Big companys, etc.) Also make sure you play it before you buy it. just to get you started off though, take a look at the "Distorus maximus" (Krank) , & the "Fullbore Metal" (MXR). Seeing as this comment of yours is 10 months old though... i'm probably late...

  • the distortion sounds very artificial.. only decent thing in my eyes is the amount of sustain u get

  • This is how good the Metal Muff is. Even with Gearwire, it sounded good. *LOL

  • LOLOL ... well i guess we were lucky it wasnt a gearwire idiot who demoed this one.

  • I have it

Probably one of the best dist. pedals i have owned

  • this? or krank distortion pedal?

  • This guy reminds me of John Malkovich.

  • guess these wont work on a modelling amp?

  • I have a Line 6 spider 3 and the Metal Muff works very well on the 1st clean channel!! Don't life folks about this combo together it gets anything from Napalm Death, Machinehead to Cannibal Corpse!!

  • serious? i was told you cant use wah's or anything on modelling amps

  • Yes you can-I've been playing since 1979-so I wouldn't BS you on this!! You just have to tweak the amp and listen closely to the tone you want to achieve!! I have very little Bass on the amp, but I'm pumping the bass from the metal muff!! No lie, I can get some Killer death/black metal tones with this setup!!

  • muff? like a blow jod muff?

  • muff =euphemism for a pussy :)

  • i want all of these pedals!!

  • If the pedal is bypassed, can I use the Top Boost for a clean boost?

  • no the top boost will only work when the pedal is on. Its still a baaaad ass pedal though. BUY IT! IT WILL NOT DISOPOINT!

  • PLEASE REPLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am planning on getting this pedal. Could I put this in my effects chain along with my digitech rp100. I am only using the digitech for delay, chorus, phaser etc.

  • yeah it shouldnt interfere with those effects, but if you put it before the digitech pedal it would have problems on the whammy functions.

  • yes it will work. however this pedal can be a very hot distortion so if your digitech doesnt have a noise gate on it i would recomend a boss ns-2 to go along with it.

  • or if your not wanting to spend 100 dollars get the behringer noise reducer from amazon, same quality

  • Wait wait wait wait.... You're talking about Mick Mars from Motley Crue? Because I've seen a buttload of videos of him using all those guitars I said, except for the PRS, I read he used a Custom 24 or something like that.

  • Mick used Ibanez? I thought he only used BC Riches, PRS, Fender, and Gibsons.

  • Hmm, I also have an Ibanez, and never liked any B.C. Rich guitars I've tried (many).

The Les Paul I have gets a great metal tone, I don't know what you're smoking. :P

  • If you're looking for a good metal guitar, go schecter. You can't go wrong with a schecter. They play and sound great right off the shelf.

  • ya but thanks to a7x every body who graduates from skateboarding to playing guitar chooses a schecter. its like the big trend now, schecters are good though

  • Well Avenged Sevenfold gets great metal tone from those that's for sure, but I bet they have the very high end models. ^^

  • ugh I hate when reviewers do metal pedals and don't play metal. How the hell are you supposed to know if it fits what you want. This guys playing fucking blues/rock.

  • sounds way too chunky...

  • I haven't seen a review of any distortion pedal yet that sounds worth a crap.

I guess I'm spoiled by my Les Paul's stock pickups and a Cube amp?!? Geez they get better sounding distortion (including drop tunings) than any of these things...

  • Haha! If you think you're Les Paul is sounding good with metal you really need to find some better stuff....

  • Like what?

  • Well you do know there are MUCH better guitars out there and amps. Like Ibanez and B.C. Rich.

  • B.C. Rich does not make good guitars...

  • Tell that to Kerry King and Mick Mars.

  • Ok fine if someone wants to go out and get a custom built B.C Rich im sure it will be a wonderful guitar but im telling you if you spent less than $800 on one its going to be a heaping pile of shit.

  • ok i m gonna do it....cuz my warlock got broken after 7 months I ve bought it, due to a fucking neck defect..i was playnig normally, it torned to pieces (750$), tell me what I could do thx

  • You got the right, my warlock got broken after 7 months I ve bought it...

  • @elfboy443 i will 2nd that for sure

  • @elfboy443 Could you tell me why do you think that?

  • Ive played alot of them, they just really have a very cheap feel to them and they sound very toyish (like the guitar version of a boss metal zone)

  • @elfboy443 B.C. Rich is the best for metal music, but yes you MUST know how to use it!

  • A lot of metal players (even today) use Les Pauls. So, they are a good choice.

  • Well then I don't know what bands you're talking about but you won't be getting a true metal tone from a Les Paul.

  • Heres a list of bands i found that have guitarists that use Les Pauls:

Godsmack, Clawfinger, Alice in Chains (Jerry used them for a bit), Rammstein, Disturbed, Metallica, Thin Lizzy, Motley Crue, Zakk Wylde. Thats a few that i could find.

  • Good job you know how to use google. But google didn't tell you that half those guitarists found something better than a Les Paul. Besides most of those weren't METAL....

  • Eh, Dan Donnegon probably switched to Washburn because they probably offered to give him a signature. Bård Torstensen, John Sykes, and Tony Rombola still uses Les Pauls. Scott Gorham also still uses Les Pauls, but also uses Fender Strats, which are ALSO accused of not being good for metal. As for Mick Mars, he uses Strats also, and remember what i said about Strats?

  • Don't care what you say or who uses what. Les Paul's just aren't the scene. Neither are strats I hate those to death. You want real metal go try a Jackson or Ibanez or B.C. Rich (Which is what Mick STARTED on). End of story.

  • But he switched from B.C. Rich, hm? ;D

  • God you're a stubborn ass...

  • And you have no idea what you're talking about, so that makes us pretty much even.

  • Yes mhmm coming from a kid "themodernguitarist" playing shit SOAD and strats have fun cause I'm done here. Also maybe you should quit focusing on having a bunch of guitars and get a actual quality camera.

  • not all strats are weak. do some research on the fender hm strat. 24 frets and a beastly s/s/h config

  • From what I've played.... metal on a strat is definitely for the beginner or low budget player and every strat I've played is weak and only for blues maybe light rock. That's me though, I've never been able to play aggressively on a strat at all.

  • Oh, forgot, Kirk Hammet and James Hetfield still uses Les Pauls, and Paul Landers SWITCHED to Les Pauls in 2004. Jerry Cantrell also used Les pPauls for awhile like i said, but is probably going to get a signature from Dean which is a LES PAUL copy.

  • None of those are relevant in the music world anymore. With the exception of Zakk. Although Thin Lizzy is one of my favs. But, they're not metal.

  • I know, but I was just saying you can get an agressive sound out of a Les Paul.

  • High On Fire, and Mastodon thats enough proof right there. Those bands write some really heavy songs. Tones don't get any heavier than Mastodon's or High On Fire's.

  • @unconditionalmalice

That slipknot song "Gematria, The Killing Name" has the heaviest gain i have ever heard.

  • Slipknot? Don't ever mention their name in my presence ever again.

  • @unconditionalmalice

    You're jealous, right?

That's why i'm not gonna say the name of the best metal band?

    I respect your wish.

  • LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL. Slipknot is like the Green Day of metal.

  • @unconditionalmalice

If you are going to argue on what i said, please bring some real arguments.

If Green Day is the king of Punk, And Slipknot is the King of metal, i regret my first sentence, then there would be a connection. As Slipknot truly is the king of metal.

  • Green Day is watered down pop punk. And Slipknot is watered down pop metal. You can't be the king of anything if all you do is water it down, pussify it, and make it more accessible.

  • @unconditionalmalice

The reason slipknot are the kings of metal is exactly because that they aren't watered down pop metal douche bags. They are pure, raw industrial/alternative Death Metal. I don't even think you know who slipknot is. Check out "New Abortion".

Seriously, search "New Abortion Live" on YouTube.

  • I know exactly who they are. They take everything that's been done before in metal simplify it, make it weaker, and add poppy choruses so that teeny boppers can sing along.

  • @unconditionalmalice

Well, if your band is how you just said they were, they sound completely awful to me. Now back to Slipknot. No comeback? Does that mean we agree on that they are the best metal band???

  • Don't even call Slipknot metal you mallcore faggot, it's a total insult to the genre.

  • @unconditionalmalice

You can impossibly be talking to me, as i sit here, and making a comment against you, which is a mallcore faggot as you call it.

I see you have a "System of a down" vid on your favorites, and system of a down defines the genre "Nu Metal" which is the example of fake metal.

Slipknot is NOT nu, but Alternative/Industrial Death, so i think this case is open and shut, you who tend to listen to SOD.

And Metallica is the most mainstream metal band that exist. I checked your chan

  • Yeah SOD aka STORM TROOPERS OF DEATH not System of A Down(LMAO @ the confusion).Yeah and in case you didn't notice BLACK SABBATH the very first and most important band in metal is well liked in the mainstream so that argument is irrelevant. And if you think Slipknot is anything but Nu-Metal you are definitely a mallcore ignoramus.

  • @unconditionalmalice

Sorry about the S.O.D mistake. Really am.

Black Sabbath may be the old times best selling ones, and in my opinion they are better than Metallica, but every 12/year old starter guitarist loves Metallica.

Well, i KNOW that slipknot is not Nu, but Alternative/Industrial Death, and i don|t quite see how you can think that thinking they are something else than Nu makes me a mallcore ignoramus. Everyone i meet that think they are, are mallcore faggots, including you.

  • Comment removed

  • What the fuck are you on about? I don't have anything in common with mallcore fags. I fucking hate shitty watered down mainstream music, and don't I follow any trends. You fucking fail.

  • @unconditionalmalice

    No, YOU fail. at lying.

You're not fooling me, you know.

  • Lying about what teeny bopper?

  • He who listens to mainstream is a mallcore fag.

You listen to metallica. I don't. They are the most mainstream metal band i know

    You are a mainstream/mallcore fag.

I never really asked for this discussion. Slipknot is the best metal band. It really doesn't matter what you think, you're worthless, and i see no reason to waste time on you anymore, you've in total costed me two minutes. I won.

It was a waste. So long. I've blocked you, so i won't be able to read your bullshit comeback anyway.

  • Mainstream doesn't equal mallcore dipshit. If mainstream = mallcore. Anthrax, Ramones, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Alice In Chains, Dead Kennedys, Misfits, Pink Floyd, Soundgarden, Iron Maiden, and Judas Priest all = mallcore. Yeah your logic is fucking retarded.

  • @unconditionalmalice And i bet you're gonna check my account now to find some bad excuse or comeback.

The "Top 10 pig squeals" Vid is because that i laugh when i see it.

It is just for the humor, deathcore is awful.

The "Arctic Metal" thing is a friend that asked me to put as a favorite.

It is just propaganda for his awful band.

  • @SlapphePikkur The king of metal? I very much disagree...they arn't even in the top 10...they're a nu metal band that sold out when they got popular.

  • @SlapphePikkur wow...then you would be really easy to impress...

    youtube.com/watch?v=AZkx91iOUzc

  • i'm in same situation as you haha

    roland cubes as sick

  • so if i want an old school like metallica, megadeth, iron maiden, or more new stuff lik all that reamins, bullet for my valentine should i get this or a mt2?

  • I have the same dilemma...I tired both and I find the Metal Muff to be warmer

  • so u would say metal muff?

  • I would say yes to the Metal Muff...more versatile
