I'm Canadian and found it to be absolutely hilarious. If he was serious about it I'd understand being pissed off, but he's a comedian! You said it best when you stated "if you cant laugh at yourself what can you laugh at?"

I didn't mind Colbert because I know he's just kidding. he's a comedian. He makes fun of America every day.

The thing I hate about his show is his American audience. They scare the hell out of me, because they actually believe what Colbert says and will DO whatever he says. They seem to forget it's SATIRE. If he told them to jump off a cliff, they WOULD, holding big, "WE LOVE COLBERT! USA! USA!" posters in their hands.
